I remember as a little girl I found a 78 record. We got the record player out and played it for my Mom. It was "Let Us Break Bread". My Mom sat and cried because she was very moved by the song and said it was one of the first church songs she learned.
What songs most touch your soul? It certainly doesn't have to be from a hymnal but it does lift your spirit.
I've always loved my first church song "Praise To The Lord" along with "You've Got a Friend" and "Bridge Over Troubled Waters"

That Sarah McLauglin song - I loved it - but now they use it to guilt you into giving money the to ASPCA and show all those mangy dogs. I now hate that song.
Just goes to show that even if you sell-out for a good cause, it can still work against you.

SL, I love Sarah McLaughlin
I get really emotionally attached to music. In general, Van Morrison as an artist touches my soul. He's very spiritual and romantic. But a specific song of his that I love is "These are the Days."
As far as a whole album, Mary Chapin Carpenter's "Stones in the Road." That is my go to album when I'm feeling down, frustrated, emotional. I love it.

'Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings. In a tree by the brook, there's a songbird who sings, Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven. Ooh, it makes me wonder,

The video is usually backed by the crucifixion scene from "Passion of the Christ" but I can't stand watching that.
