I got it in four guesses and I don't know what the word is either--it took two guesses to figure out the last letter!

5 guesses today. I had 4 of the letters on the second row (and in the right spots!), but took me three more tries to figure out the fifth letter I was missing. And I had to go look up the word!
Forget a word of the day calendar. Just play this game!

I just looked up the word too. Now that I know what it is I can almost guarantee my 13 year old son could have told me--he loves that stuff and has an incredible memory! I might show him this game, he's great with words (an avid reader and has gone to the state spelling bee twice--the only two years his school participated)

No, Chiver, there's a method to be learned, here. Much to my delight I'm one step closer today to figuring it out. 4 guesses (down from an average of 6).
I've figured out the Secret Number game. I allow myself only one guess each day to get it right. Just to add more of a challenge...

well, I will admit that I use the old "Wheel of Fortune" rule of using the popular letters first. when that gleans nothing from the secret word, I end up at 6 or 7 tries. I hope I didn't give away too much information there....  |

daphne--it's the same word for everyone, that's why we can't post it. Today took me five tries--off to do the number, I've got my string of "first times" still going on that one.
