I don't have the netipot but have something similar. I actually had surgery on my sinus' a year ago in January because I was a train wreck of constant sinus infections. Knock on wood, I haven't had one since. Of course, I also have the this high powered contraption I can use when I think a sinus problem is coming on. Let's just put it this way, I had to by a water pik you use for your teeth and they gave me something to attach to the end that is for your nose. Let's just say that if I would bend over hours later, water would still come running out...embarrassing.

Miz - Slow right now. She has somethings on her end to deal with before we go foward. Plus, I still have things to clean out of the dresser drawers and closet before she can move in. I also talked to my parents and if they do come and visit, I'll just bunk them in my room and I will take on the air mattress or possibly look at getting a day bed/futon for the office.

Clean- Slow sometimes is better with roommates. Some of the girls e-bay or Craig's list things that they no longer need, want or are attached to so that they can get extra cash if that wold help you any. And I would really recommend a self inflating air mattress with built in pillow that raises to bed height or a day bed. A cheap futon will kill your back.

Well it has been awhile and I thought I would post a follow up. At this point, I have stayed away from bankruptcy and have been turtling along. So far, I have reduced my debt by 4% in 3 months. So, it is progress in the right direction.
Even more so is that I managed to deal with the expenses of a crown and emergency medical bills for a sick dog all with cash / emergency fund and not putting a cent on a card.
I have also taken some of the advise given on the pages and have been successful with the Walgreen's version of Zyrtec. While at the height of my misery this spring, I don't think it was as effective, I was able to muddle through.
In addition, I did cancel my cable subscription today (savings of $70/month) and also made a change in my phone plan which saves another $11 a month.
While I might not of been willing to go cold turkey all at once as some had suggested, I am still making steps in the right direction.

How is it working out with the roommate thus far? No change on the roommate status as of right now. Honestly while having the extra income would be nice, I don't know if I want the extra drama it might bring. She is still working through the divorce and won't move in until it is final. Of course, it could be final if she would just meet him half way and she isn't budging. She went as far as getting a new attorney because she felt hers was helping her ex more.

cleanslate- KArma for what you have gotten accomplished so far. May I make a suggestion on the generic Zyrtec? If you have an old Zyrtec bottle- mark the new exp date on it and put the gneric pills in it. My grandmother used to get a reverse placebo effect if you will, if she knew she was getting generics until I switched te bottles for few months- out of sight, out of mind. If not, there are usually good sales on Zyrtec and coupons out right now.

Cleanslate - I have got to say I was just reading about your troubles and I am in the same boat with Target. I took out the card in college when I wasn't working and my parents were paying the bills. I used it for everything from things for school to food to clothing - you name it, it went on this card. When I graduated in 2007 my parents handed all of my credit card bills to me and said here these are yours now. I had a $5,000 balance on the Target card making a $150 minimum payment every month and watching $100 of that go to interest. Since joining the red racers my minimum payment has gone down to $135 and I have paid $800 off but its still at that high interest rate watching $90 go to interest. My credit score isnt in the toilet - its right around 700 but I am a single 25 year old living on my own - Half of my monthly income goes to debt which many times puts me behind in paying rent which is really causing problems with my landlord. I feel as hopeless as you do with that card - other things I can manage but it makes me sick to my stomach every month paying that bill and realizing that I am getting no where with it. If you could - what exactly did you say to them to get them to drop down your interest rate? As someone else who is dealing with them I think it could be very helpful to me to work out some kind of deal with them.

cleanslate- KArma for what you have gotten accomplished so far. May I make a suggestion on the generic Zyrtec? Actually Mizbear I have been using the generic for a few months now. I think that it works although with grass pollen in full swing, I am noticing that it doesn't work quiet as well. I think that I might try doing both Zyrtec and the generic and rotate them every day so I always have a little of the original in my system to see if that helps. As someone else who is dealing with them I think it could be very helpful to me to work out some kind of deal with them. When you call in, just tell them that you cannot afford the payments and ask to speak with someone that can assist you in regards to that. The plan that I have my card is closed and I am okay with that because I don't use it nor do I have any future with it. They are going to try and keep you on as a customer and offer you a six month plan with lower interest and payments. If you are firm with them on what you can do and six months will not help, they should come up with the Card liquidation plan for you. Honestly, I have used this plan for almost all of my cards and while my credit took a ding because all of the cards are now closed, I am okay with it because I don't want the cards and would of never been able to afford them otherwise. My understanding is that Target is a little more difficult to work with because they did not take any money during the credit card bail out.

I wish liquidation had been available when I had my credit card problems when I got sick/divorced so I might have avoided my bankruptcy.
Remember- it will get better!

Cleanslate - just wanted to say that I think you're doing a great job. You got so much advice thrown at you right away, it's not easy to digest all that. I don't think anyone expected you to go all cold-turkey at once, but you've made some cuts, made progress with some creditors....keep it up and before you know it the debt will keep getting more and more manageable. Nice work!

Clean -- I've read this entire thread today. Congrats on your progress thus far!!!! I am contemplating getting rid of pay tv and I don't have any debt, other than the mortgage. Everyone that I hear/see says after a while they don't miss the cable. I wish you continued success. I've been taking Generic Zyrtec this spring and it has worked wonders for me. I believe my Generic version is the pharmacy version.

Thank you cleanslate! I am going to make a phone call to them tonight and hope that it helps me out. I was planning on closing that card as soon as it was paid off anyway because it just makes me sick that they have one of the highest interest rates around there. Mine is 25% with them and I have 3 other major cards that are not even at 20%. Fortunately I recently found out that my Aunt is going to lend me some money interest free to make a dent on the card and I would just pay her back monthly so 6 months at a much lower interest rate might actually be able to help me out. Did you try doing that and it just didnt work out which is why you went to liquidation or was the liquidation your first move? I guess I am asking say I did take the 6 months at the lower interest rate but was not able to make as much of a dent as I wanted - Could I then have the option of the liquidation or is it one way or the other?

Kristin11 - My understanding is that the most anyone credit card can offer for debt liquidation is 5 years. I do believe that the interest rate I was initially offered for my 6 month period was 6.9%. I was able to run that offer twice and I just wasn't able to make a big enough dent. Plus, once it went off the promotion, it jumped back up to 29.99%. Which, at that point, I was locked in for 9.9% for 4 years. The good news is that the way Target has it set, you can log in at any time and make extra payments. However, for the 6 month periods, they automatically deducted the funds from my account and wouldn't let me manually pay it. Plus, you need to keep track of your six months because they still send statments show you owe what they are already withdrawing and never send a letter that the six months is up.

I just wanted to give you a heads up on a good deal I saw today about the Walgreen's brand Zyrtec- it is on sale for $9.00 for a 30-ct. box, and if you buy 3 boxes in one transaction, you'll get a form for a mail-in rebate for $10.00, which would make the Wal-Zyr just $5.66/box. HTH

mizbear -- Zyrtec D has a decongestant. If I get ahead of my symptoms regular Zyrtec works wonders. Thanks for the Karma, but I don't think it hit me. I'm still stuck at 3.

cleanslate - as a fellow "allergic to everything" and taker of zyrtec, I wanted to let you know about another option. Costco has their generic of zyrtec for less than $20 a bottle. The best part? A bottle has 365 pills!! Seriously, if you don't have a Costco nearby PM me and we'll work something out, I'll pick it up and ship it to you.
