Official: Spokane MLK Day Bomb 'Worst Device I've Ever Seen' A bomb found along the route of a Martin Luther King Day parade in Spokane, Wash., on Monday was a sophisticated device with the potential to devastate, an official on the case tells the AP. "They haven't seen anything like this in this country," the official said. "This was the worst device, and most intentional device, I've ever seen." The official also said the device was rigged to a remote detonator. Officially, the FBI has not released many details about the bomb, other than that it was viable and could have caused multiple casualties. An FBI official yesterday told TPM the bomb was an act of "domestic terrorism." It was found Monday morning in a parking lot along the parade route, just half an hour before the parade was to begin. Three city workers who found the backpack it was stuffed in called the police, who sealed off several blocks and rerouted the parade. The FBI dismantled the bomb and is handling the investigation. The FBI also says it's gotten "a number of important, fruitful leads," but has not released any details about a possible suspect or motive. tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/01/official_spokane_mlk_day_bomb_worst_device_ive_eve.php?ref=fpb

I've been following this one for 2 days, Lak, wondering how you missed it. It's been all over FOX news. It looks like you may have finally found a real, live racist!!!!!!
No, all joking with Lak aside, this is very scary, armed to explode right in to the crowd at the time chosen to do the most harm. Of course it could be a planned hit on someone disguised as an MLK Day attack with t shirts planted as distractions. Fact is we just don't know yet. I'm just glad someone with a sharp eye saw that backpack.

I have a feeling that prison time for the person or persons involved might be a bit unconfortable in this case. Kinda but not quite like this:

I didn't miss it. I've been following it since it broke. I just kept waiting for ANYONE to post ANYTHING about MLK Day. I don't recall seeing anything to celebrate his birthday.

....attack little schoolchildren walking into classrooms?.... It was a church, Sunday school. One of them was a friend of Condoleezza Rice. "My father joined our party because the Democrats in Jim Crow Alabama of 1952 would not register him to vote. The Republicans did."[15] en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Condoleezza_Rice

Who Passed the Civil Rights Act of 1964?www.alternet.org/rights/77507/?page=entire Civil Rights Bill Passed, 73-27; Johnson Urges All To ComplyWashington, June 19--The Senate passed the civil rights bill today by a vote of 73 - 27. The final roll-call came at 7:40 P.M. on the 83d day of debate, nine days after closure was invoked. Voting for the bill were 46 Democrats and 27 Republicans. Voting against it were 21 Democrats and six Republicans. Except for Senator Robert C. Byrd of West Virginia, all the Democratic votes against the bill came from Southerners. Senator Barry Goldwater of Arizona voted against the bill, as he said yesterday he would. The five other Republicans opposing it all support Mr. Goldwater's candidacy for the Republican Presidential nomination. They were Bourke B. Hickenlooper of Iowa, chairman of the Senate Republican Policy Committee; Norris Cotton of New Hampshire, Edwin L. Mechem of New Mexico, Milward L. Simpson of Wyoming and a John G. Tower of Texas. www.nytimes.com/learning/general/onthisday/big/0619.html
NOTE: In 1964, Democrats controlled both houses of Congress, 258-177 in the House, and 67-33 in the Senate - and the White House.

"Oh those southern Dixiecrats who are now today's republicans." Ya think? Then who are today's Democrats......former Republicans? [FYI; There's a whole new generation in most places since 1952.]

Oh, so you wish to reduce this great man to a plagiarist? LOL. That was not done by me. I thought wikipedia was the holy grail of truth. BTW his civil rights goals were admirable, I guess you missed that?

I don't think that plagiarism justifies setting a bomb to explode during a parade. Maybe I just don't get it.

BTW, how could Wikipedia be the "holy grail of truth" when anyone can edit it?

I don't think that plagiarism justifies setting a bomb to explode during a parade. Maybe I just don't get it. Yes, it would be difficult indeed to make that leap. So how did you? Lakhota was dismayed that there was a lack of information disseminated about the good doctor. I obliged.

I see. LOL And who says you don't have a sense of humor? BTW Spokane is generally a filthy city and is in close proximity to the former location of the Aryan Nations compound. No shortage of punks there to rain on anybody's parade.

Well, since you're on a roll, would you also like to smear Alex Haley? Are you serious? Because it sounds as though you are merely being facetious............it's so hard to read you sometimes.

Weathermen?? Isn't that Obama's buddy Ayer's homegrown group?? Wasn't MLK a Republican?? And Lincoln? I thought I heard that. Lakhota, I imagine MLK Day was shadowed somewhat by the Giffords shootings. At least for me. Beck spoke quite highly of MLK this week. Lots of conservatives did on that FOX news place. If you wanted an MLK thread why didn't you start one?? You sure aren't thread shy. I bet they are being quiet about it as far as info because they have an idea who did it. I hope so. Sophisticated device like that-- geez... wouldn't be surprised if we hear this is a group rather than a lone nut.

I'm too tired to post articles right now, Lak, but according to the BING search I just did, he was a Republican. That may upset his son, but it is what it is-- and his niece Alveda is quite proud of that. I'm sure you can post dozens of links saying he was not, but I am going to bed now. He was registered Pub, voted Pub, he was a Pub. And so was Lincoln.

I hope they catch who ever planted the device. Had it gone off the damage and repercussions would have been nation wide. It could have touched off a race war in this nation and undone all that MLK fought and died for. If and when they catch the perp or perps they need to be given life in a tin box in the desert.

That's pretty close to Alaska. Palin better start working on her alibi now before libs jump all over her for this too.
Besides editing, anyone can also question any info they find objectionable as well.
lmao...have you seen some of the posts around here?
