It was a real honor to have known such a wonderful person. He really will be missed, but I'm glad I got to know him.

Wow Nancy that is amazing that you saved those. It really would be a great tribute to him. They were incredibly well-written; a very good look at a culture and people I did not know. The grammar and syntax needed work, though. There was no way it could ever be published in the form he wrote it. I realize he wrote as he spoke, but no publisher would accept it. He knew I was doing an editing job, by the way. It's been a slog to go through, because I am trying to keep the tone of his words and correct only a minimum. It's fantastic that you kept doodles stories, Nancy. I only wish I had kept some of them from the MSN boards before they closed. Perhaps you could post them on here and we could copy them for our selves in memory of w great and good man.

I know there is a way to find the link that he was using to post them here, even if it is an old link...unless he deleted everything(?) in which case a link will be useless. The only way I know how is to do a copy/paste from my Word doc. I don't want to upload the document, in order to keep my location and identity at least somewhat hidden.

Yes, that's the link I used. Thanks Archie!
I'm not sure if what's in it matches what I have on the Word document. As was mentioned, Doodles did some deleting along the way. But I think I got pretty much everything.

I was going to resurrect the thread so that those that hadn't had a chance to read the stories would be able to but it is locked.

I think back a year or so ago Nancy and I were both trying to encourage him to get published, but he was very modest - and I think he just enjoyed relating the stories of his people to us.
The way he wrote (his style of writing) was like he was speaking as he told the story. It was a part of who he was. I don't know that I'd change/alter that too much - it reflected his heritage.

Clicking the link takes you directly to the thread. It doesn't need bumping.

I'm really sorry to hear that Doodlebug passed away. He was such a sweetheart and he was so funny! RIP Who has his Peo? Does anybody know? Every time I see a Chessy now I think of Doodlebug and that term for a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. We used to have one when I was a kid and I never heard that term until he posted here. Poor Peo. He lost his daddy.

They did everything together and Peo will really miss him.

Doodles was a story-teller, not a writer. I remember him telling me once he loved to talk but hated to write. Yet, he wrote for us. He was an endearing soul with a unique slant on life and an appreciation for all things living. I recall when he found out he was going to need a cardiac pacer/defibrillator and the weeks it took to convince him that was the right thing to do. That was quite a few years ago and that "newfangled gadget" gave him those years to share with us. For that, I'm grateful.

Peace Of Mind and all who have asked, Peo is with Judy, doodlebug's neighbor and dear friend. He visited with her all the time, so he'll get plenty of love and care. That's really good news!

Thanks mm I wasn't completely sure who Judy was when I posted it yesterday. Peo is in good hands and still gets to enjoy all the wonderful surroundings that he loves.

Here is a FB post by Judy the lady that is taking care of Peo from yesterday:
I took Peo for a run up Skate Creek today, he loved getting out and stretching his legs. I know that Gary was smiling down on him, he loved that dog dearly. The day was cool and damp, which is Peo's favorite weather. An awesome master, raised an awesome dog!
