For me, the cheapest is at 1) samples from the peditricans office, 2) BJ's Wholesale Club. Unfortuantely, my DD can't use generic, but generic tends to be cheaper than name brand. FWIW, my DD is on Similac Soy.

No bother, taxi!
I, personally, found little variation in prices between the different stores. We used Enfamil AR (We had to have the AR because of her acid reflux.) Occasionally our local grocery store would have it on sale, and I would try to stock up, but the price was basically the same everywhere we went. If brand doesn't matter, you might want to check some of the price clubs (like Sam's Club or Costco).
Sorry, I know that's not much help.

Taxi you really should post this on the Grocery Game thread. My baby is 8 so I haven't a clue. But there are a few people on that thread that have babies and do look for baby formula and diaper deals. Just go to the the last page and post introducing yourself and your question about formula. They are very friendly.

for DD we used a lot of Costco's brand, it was 2 - 25 oz containers for ~$20 - the best deal ever!
for DS1, costco stopped offering that, so we switched to Wal-mart's which was ~$18 for about 36 oz.
for DS2 - i'm still deciding. the grocery store's brand on sale is 25 oz for $12.
Target has some decent prices too it looks like. DS1 also had some Target brand.
I don't buy into the myth that kids should stick with one formula :-)

I think it entirely depends on the kid. In our case with the acid reflux issues, we couldn't jump around. Kids with allergies can't change it up. But I guess if you have a healthy kid who isn't sensitive it wouldn't hurt.
BTW, I got a lot of coupons for the Enfamil when we were using it, so if I could couple the coupon with the grocery store sales, I did pretty good. I think we'll use Enfamil when #2 arrives, but hopefully he's not sensitive and can just use the regular Enfamil.

Luckily, we switched him to Soy and he did fine, and you can get generic Soy :-) He must have outgrown the allergy b/c now he drinks milk by the gallon!!

We used Target Brand for both our kids. But we didn't have any allergies/food issues.
We found this was cheaper than going to Costco or Sam's Club or anything like that.
We did the walmart brand for #1 and it was BAD. Lots of extra gas, and crying from being uncomfortable.

When we were determining which formula worked for DD, then found out it Soy that worked best. She had done well with Simalic Soy so I decided to switch her to Gerber Soy. It did not work well for her at all. DD is not a screamer but she SCREAMED when she pooped while on that formula. Once we discovered that it was the formula, she got switched immediately back to Simalic Soy and I've been gun-shy about attempting either Enfamil Soy or generic soy based on her reaction with Gerber Soy.

We used the Target brand for both our kids. I was reluctant at first to use a generic, but my pediatrician assued me that baby formula is one of the tightest regulated things on the market and unless there are some issues with allergies or sensitivity, they are all good.

We use Similac Advance because that's what DS was given when he was in the NICU. It's like $24 a pop.

The Enfamil AR was $26 for the large can. But if it was on sale and I used the coupon, I could get it for $18.

Another vote for Target. They have a super big can now for babies which is even less expensive per ounce than what we used to have to buy. My son never had anything else! We used the Target Diapers too which worked great. They didn't have an overnight though so we used Huggies for that when my son got a little older.

For anyone with an ACME and generic is okay Acme has their store brand Reg powder formula on clearance for $5.00 a can. the tag says it is regularly $19.99 a can and marked down 75%. That price sounds outragous but it was a decent size can.
HTH someone. ;D
