Roaming mods??? How does a guy get banned for describing what another poster admits to.

In the last week certain posters have declared open season on the Impaler. I can't beleive ..nor can they..not get a ban!

I've never been one to covet and envy another's success. I know what kind of risk it takes to do that. Obviously a very small percentage of people are willing to risk that much. Usually the ones that do "win" are very generous in nature and are gratefully to give back. I don't understand the mind set.

The explanation for the ban is still up higher in this thread. You personally attacked someone.

No explanation for why others have not been banned though. I'd expect that is for multiple reasons. Were the posts where someone allegedly misbehaved reported to the mods? If so, was a response received for the report? If the response was not acceptable, was the conversation forwarded to Moon for her review?

Agreed that there should have been an explanation from whoever removed the ban though. If you're a 'favorite' of one of the mods and have your ban removed, the board should see the reasons behind it.

Virgil has bent over backwards trying to clean this board up. There are two freaking threads you can simply ignore if it's too much trouble to click on the ignore button next to Decoys name. I'm really getting sick and tired of seeing you go after him (Virgil) on these boards.

If they were who would you hold responsible for allowing that kind of behavior to exist, permitted and continue?

If I were reading it, I would report it to the mods as an attack via the report to mod tool. If I did not get an acceptable response from the mod who replied to me, I would escalate it to Moon. If I didn't like the response I received from her I would make a choice to stay and accept that the board isn't going to be fair to me or leave. Heck, if I thought I had a huge following, I might even set up my own board so that I could ban whoever I didn't like.

Do you think it is fair game to do anything and say anything to get someone someone to respond?...isn't that baiting?...isn't that against the rules?

I think anyone responding to someone intentionally trying to bait them is as big an idiot as the person doing the baiting. But that's just me. If you're incapable of simply ignoring the people who you claim have nothing to add to the discussion, and you think you're being baited report the freaking post and don't fall for the baiting.

But hey, that's just my opinion and what I think I'd do.

I don't know if decoy or Maui are attacking my children or wife because I rarely read what they write.

But others do, so they start forming opinions, biases, etc. based on non-factual information that down the road may cause problems to the one being flamed, but is unaware due to the "IGNORE" button.

Once started, misinformation, defamation, libelous statements etc. spread outside this board and are very hard to stop.

The mechanism is there as you say for "reporting" these indiscretions. But does it work? Is it fair and just? Has it really made things better?

He is on ignore...and has been for months

He doesnt matter in the big scheme of things.....but too many on this board ALLOW him to have influence by continuing to address his posts

He is a conspiracy expert.....he trolls the internet for items to post to further his agenda....he believes that everything is FIXED (crooked) and that the system must be reset by any means possible

He WILL NOT change....or abide by the rules....he has learned to sidestep them

Well, used to be long hair, full beard then shorter hair and mustache for many, many years now hair's about gone and clean shaven.

I wanted to see who was hiding behind that mustache and what he looked like. Now I'm thinking clean shaven, shaved head and maybe some gold ear rings! Kinda like Mr. Clean ya know?

I don't think we have that large a member base that we need to be concerned about this. Now that Decoy has been contained in his own two threads, if we can all just agree to let those two threads rot, any new member to the boards will quickly see them for what they are.

Good questions. Only those who feel they have been slighted would be able to comment. I'd be interested in hearing some stats from Moon or Virgil on how many posts here at MT get reported to mods.

I feel somewhat responsible for things getting to this point because I haven't followed the kind of advice wxyz and others have provided. I can't seem to leave well enough alone.

My apologies to Frank, Moon and Kman for blowing on the hot coals and igniting the last two flare-ups.
