Who is making the towers and antennas? That's where the money will be - short term - The cell companies - long term !

Anyone know of good companies that will supply the towers and antennas? Telus, Verison, Bell, ect will all benefit from this it would seem. just a matter of good management there.

I remember somebody asking me about NOK. At my age , it's hard to remember if I gave him the right take or not.

LOL, hey, they are still the second biggest phone maker in the world, with a windows 8 phone hitting the markets in the next year. If they hit that 23% market share that most think they will hit when the phone is a home-run, this cowboy won't have taken a yet. Best part is if it turns out to be a mistake, at least I can learn from it.

It's a double edged sword, that's for sure.

How did I miss this? I did a stint of contract work for AT&T awhile back. I would hook up 2 cell phones, one digital the other analog, to a laptop. Also added to this laptop were 2 GPS units. So what I would do is set everything up in my car, turn on the phones for continuous calling, then drive around my scheduled route. The whole time I'm driving, the GPS' are linked up to each cell phone, monitoring the latency as I cruise down the road. Accasionally a call would drop and fail to call again, or the GPS wouldnt be synched up, so I'd pull over and set it up again. This was quite tedious work, not to mention kind of dangerous, because I got in the habit of trying to do alot of things while I was driving. lol, a few times I almost went off the road! Anyway, I would record all of this info and then consult with engineers at AT&T how to best tweak their antennas for maximum bandwidth utilization. If any of you has a problem getting service bars on your phone, the best thing you can do is find the biggest road in the area, thats where most of the signals are converged on, the roads and streets. The more untraveled the road, the more likely you'll get poor service. From what I gather, alot of times building more antennas can be quite the pain in the ass. Next time you're rolling down the Jersey Turnpike or anywhere in Jersey for that matter, pay close attention to their trees. You'll spot a few that don't look right here and there. They're cell phone towers, built to look like trees. Done out of a compromise with the enviromentalists. gpdgroup-px.rtrk.com/markets/telecommunicationsThis company here may be worth checking out, and of course like I preach around here long term...Verizon, Verizon, Verizon!

It's great news! Keeps a guy like me in demand in a tough job market, and it encourages the major players to seek new technological advances and return for investors. I'm telling ya, Verizon has better engineers, and they've got a lock on future government contracts, just about every branch as far as I can tell. It'll be interesting to see how that battle plays out, but my money is already on the next winner

Not to mention FrankQ owns T & I own VZ. You can tell right there where the 'dumb' and 'smart' money is.

Good to hear that it's just another step in the battle, an it's going to keep crazy drivers on the road.

This is, IMO, a pretty big thing to pay attention to. MSFT is pulling out of the biggest consumer elctronics show there is. Any thoughts on what this signals in theri business. They say they are going to host their own trade shows just like Apples. Could we see a rebranidng of MSFT here?? Microsoft says 2012 CES tech show will be its last www.thereporter.com/business/ci_19599331?source=rss

Considering that the Xbox is the only consumer electronic product that MSFT has every really has any success with, and it has been a total flop as far as profits go. Cloud they be dropping the xbox to go back to focusing on software. While selling the technology for the kinect to people that are using the technology already for things aside from gaming?
