Hope everyone is feeling better. Our annual holiday party is over. 30 adults plus 7 children (5 under the age of 5). House is put back (close enough) and we are exhausted.
Not funny at the time story - but - we usually order a few part trays from Whole Foods. Last year they royally sc**wed up and had nothing ready. So this year I just ordered shrimp tray. Was it ready when we got there? Nope! Two years a row they messed up! Drives me insane. I grabbed some shrimp rings and explained to the manager how they just lost a ton of business - but I doubt that they care.
Really - what are the odds of that?!
Back to NY end of the week for a couple days of work and I just need a couple of small gifts and we are done.
The secret santa package goes out tomorrow.

Update: 8NSD and 2 CSD as of Friday
Spent yesterday at home so a NS day but today was grocery as well as other errands. Cards were done yesterday and dropped in the mail this morning. Secret Santa is ready to be mailed but probabaly won't be until later this week.
SES -- hope you are feeling better. I am still coughing at times but do feel better.
This is exam week so it will be an easy one as we have half days when exams are given. Looking forward to that as it will give me time to get the last minute shopping done. Need to get to both Walmart and Sams this week and to the mall prior to the big day.
Hope all are doing well. Will check in later.

Hello all, hope you've had a nice weekend. We got to visit with my brother's wife, who was in the area for training for work and crashed with us. I think I enjoy her company more when she's not around my brother, and I enjoy my brother better when he's not around her. Weird. We went to the Cheesecake Factory just to get the peppermint cheesecake and it was AMAZING. I want to go back for another piece.
Saturday we visited with blue's sister and BIL and our niece and nephew. I could just eat them up. A book I'd gotten L (niece) is apparently her favorite, as evidenced by the fact that she had me read it to her three times and only stopped when I distracted her and hid the book. And E (nephew) is just adorable and well behaved and was fascinated by blue_wagon (his godfather). He just stared at him the entire time, so cute. Can't wait to see blue as a dad.
Then last night we had a wedding to go to, which we were definitely the D-list guests but were treated very well (blue used to work with the groom). The couple is super sweet, and other coworkers were fun, and the cake was delicious. So much for following WW on the weekends. lol.
And today was errands. I have been on the prowl for a nice pair of brown boots to wear with leggings and due to my "wide" calves I have been having a hard time. Found a pair today, finally, at Kohls, and they were 50% off so only $50, half what I planned on spending. Yay! And it was birthday money so they didn't really "cost" me anything. Also picked up a few gifts for blue's cousin's kids and for a Nasty Elf party (Yankee Swap) we have on Saturday. And I couldn't resist a few small Christmas things for our house. Still, it was all about 50% off. Love Kohls!
mitten - I can't wrap gifts until right before Christmas because otherwise the cats will helpfully unwrap them. And there isn't a room we can close off from them, since we are rather limited in space. Kind of annoying. I'll probably do it on the 23rd, while making blue watch White Christmas and It's A Wonderful Life hehe. And don't give up on the weight loss challenge! It keeps you thinking about it, aware, and you'll make better choices even if not the BEST choices. My WW leader likes to say, if you come in to weigh in expecting to have gained three pounds, and you only gain one, it's like a two-pound weight loss of sorts. Something is obviously kicking for you to have maintained when you expected a big gain, so keep it up. My goal for the month really is just to maintain, to make the best choices possible, and to get a bit more active.
miz - sorry thing have been difficult with the move. I hope everything goes more smoothly!

I cheated- I only had 3 gifts to wrap this year. One for BFF N, one for each of my secret santas- work and WIR. I so suck at wrapping. I got ZBear and TBear gift cards! Each one to SBs (they love the hot chocolates) and a $25 one for their favorite Chinese place so they can go out to dinner.
I had a spend today- but I needed what I bought- AND it's a sort of Christmas present from MizBear to MizBear- I got a $16 Hamilton Beach hand mixer for $10. I don't have a hand mixer and it would make cookie making much faster. My sugar cookies and snickerdoodles turn out very well in the stand mixer, but chocolate chips don't like my $99 stand mixer (it's low speed is medium or high on others and it makes a mess). It has 6 speeds, beaters and whisk, case to go over top. Only 250 watts, but I will upgrade later. After I get my professional stand mixer with all of the attachments. ;D
My uncle is coming next week to help finish getting stuff moved. I am so glad. It will make things much better. I really want to have DM in here for Christmas- or at least New Year's.
Everyone get well- try to stay safe and sane.

Stayed somewhat busy this weekend but didn't go crazy spending wise. Knocked out some more Christmas shopping and wrapping. Have to pay off DS' layaway by next Friday (been making regular weekly payments so right on schedule with that) and assemble the Family Tree for my folks and then I should be done. My secret santa will go in the mail tomorrow (Mondays are crazy at my post office). Fighting an annoying head cold that better make it's way out of my system asap. BFF is schedule to give birth to my new nephew on the 19th- ONE MORE WEEK I am so freaking excited. I love being an Auntie. This will be Miss Pants' little brother (for those that have been around a while). Got all my cards out in the mail (some on Friday and some today). Everything purchased is wrapped, my nieces American Girl Doll bed is stained and poly'ed. Still have to sew the bedding this week (or upcoming weekend). Spending wise- Came in under budget for groceries and Xmas presents so far even though Sat and Sun were Spending days.

Update: 2 NS + 6 CS = 8 Already know I won't meet the goals I set at the beginning of the month, but that's okay because I'm being stricter with my definitions this month.
Nothing has gone out yet. Normally I buy Christmas cards around New Years, but I didn't last year. However, I still have plenty left over. It just means that you may get the same card as you got last year. Hope no one minds. I think I know what I want to do for Secret Santa, but I have to get it put together and get it shipped. I also need to ship my father's birthday gift. (His birthday was end of Oct.)
ses: hope you're feeling better
Hope everyone is able to keep the craziness to a managable level.

sheila- wow didn't realize pant's mom was pregnant! yay for more great kids! cards- I'm sending scarce few this year and still way behind. I am also looking at sending out another 50 letters in January so I should have plenty of post office financial support in my future. Christmas- I'm actually pretty torn about this year. I'm not buying (hardly) anyone gifts, I barely have time to shop and there's so much work to do in my business I probably won't travel until New Years. But I've got the house decorated (pics on my blog!) and although the tree will have no presents it's still pretty calming. Except at 2am when my jingle bell wreath committed suicide and crashed into the sink, scaring the wits out of me. Clients- had a really good week last week! I'm signed up to speak at a teleconference next month and have also added a new coaching client! 3 mornings a week I'm up and coaching at 8am Love it!

startsmart - what is this "coaching"? Just curious. You use a lot of lingo but still not entirely sure what you do lol. Just glad you're happy doing it!!
I did a small editing project for a friend's mom, and she's going to mention me to her colleagues. It'd be cool to do small papers on the side (on the side of my side job... interesting idea). We'll see if anyone bites.
For some reason I decided to send cards to everyone under the sun. If I do this person I feel obligated to do that person in case that person gets upset if I don't send a card. Ugh. Why did I start cards in the first place? Jk, kind of. I think they're nice and I love getting them, and it's easy enough to do when there's time, which is the key component here. Swiftly running out of time to finish everything. Still no idea what to get SIL and BIL. Asked my in-laws for suggestions, otherwise it's just a restaurant gift card. Which I know they'd like, but not terribly original.
Hang in there guys! Almost to the new year!

startsmart: Due to family drama with her husband's side of the family she hasn't said anything on FB about her pregnancy so I haven't said anything either. Long story short- her in laws told her DH that he had to chose between his wife/daughter and his parents. They said they were only interested in having a relationship with him and didn't care to get to know their DIL and only grandchild. So they haven't seen Pants since her first b-day (she is 5 and in kindergarten now). So she didn't want it out there that they were having another until after he was here. Sad for her that she chose not to share this news with more people but it wasn't my decision to make.
So freaking excited for him to get here. She won't tell us his name until he is born so we have been calling him "Voldemort" hee hee

Sheila - congrats to BFF! Love that you're calling the kiddo Voldemort. That's just really sad about her in-laws. I really don't understand people like that.

sheila: How much fun, although sad people would make their own son choose between them and HIS child(ren) People are nuts.
I am fighting with Chase right now. somehow 6 charges from Nintendo appeared on my card. I only got this card 6 months ago and have NOT been impressed with how they have dealt with this. Now they are saying Nintendo says I purchased the products through the DS or the Wii so they are returning the charges to my card. AHH NO I DID NOT. I don't purchase things through those systems but go to Gamestop to purchase games or maybe Amazon. I much preferr Discover who never gave me hassles like this.

Does anyone have a good seasoning recipe for a snack mix? I have pretzel stix, oyster crackers, honey nut cheerios (generic), and seasoned almonds. Need a seasoning mix to toss it with and I can't find my recipe!

Sheila - wow drama! Hope he who must not be named arrives soon!
Red- same thing I've been doing (creating systems for clients) only the new model of work has me working with each client for an hour a week instead of 5 hours/week. Which meant I could take on more clients and have 3 new clients in the last month. I just finished writing copy for my sales page actually and I'm really excited!
Today will be a NSD, I went out to visit my chiropractor (to introduce him to a colleague) but avoided the thrift stores and coffee shops on my way home!

Can anyone provide some insight on pinterest? I requested an invite on the website, and apparently there is a waiting list. It has been a week already and there is no estimated time for when I will actually be able to use it. Any way to speed it up?

financialpeace- they used to be much faster at approving people. If you're a member you're allowed to send invites and they typically go through right away. If you want to speed it up PM me here with your email address and I'll hook you up

12 NSD, 12 NEO. Doing good. I have been in an angry mood for the past 2-3 months and don't know why. I seem to hate every one and hate doing anything. All I want is to be left alone and sleep. I have a feeling I may be headed into a very deep depression. I want to cry and hit things and throw any thing I get my hands on. I slammed the door hard last night and the cats went and hid. They are okay right now but I don't like the way I am feeling and I don't have any insurance so I can't afford to go to the Dr. I make too much to go to free clinic. I just need to get over this feeling and soon.

3cats: Please call around and talk to some therapists about possibly making an appointment. Many have a sliding fee scale based on your income. There are also some on line support groups and organizations set up to help people deal with their depression. I really hope I am not overstepping my bounds but you have had a very rough year and it's completely understandable for you to be feeling depressed. Try to head it off and get some help please especially if you have a feeling it's going to get worse. Hugs to you my dear

3cats--i echo was sheila said. also, does your work maybe provide an employee assistance program that you can utilize? mk--while nothing is 100% decided, my husband and i are in counseling and trying to work through the issue. at this point, he's pretty much the only support system i have left (as sad as that is).
so, i'm going to be in a book. i completed an ask the experts interview and the guy who interviewed me asked me to write a section/chapter/essay/whatever you want to call it for his new book. i am both excited and freaked out. i have no idea what i want to say and i'm terrifed whatever i do write is going to be completely craptastic and poorly received. but at the same time, i am going to be in a book! i cannot believe that i am thisclose to having one of my dreams come true.

3cats - hugs. I third what Sheila said. We're here for you, too.
mrslynch - congrats! That's so very exciting! He has confidence in you, and you should have confidence in you!! Let us know the details when it's done!
We still haven't put out our Christmas lights. We've been super busy on weekends and it's dark when I get home at night. It makes me sad. I hope we get them out this weekend. Better late than never, right? At least our inside is nicely decorated. And blue even set the tree timer so it'd be on the half hour in the morning when I get up to go to work. My mom always had it on in the morning and I find it so soothing before heading out into the cold. So sweet of blue to think of doing that.

HELLO! Just taking a break from reality (you can read the crazy on my blog) for awhile to stop by and say hello...
Mrs. Lynch: I am so VERY PROUD of you. You are going to do an amazing job. I can't wait to purchase said book and tell everyone, i "KNOW" her! This is just a step in the direction of amazing things waiting to be achieved by YOU!
SES: I hope you feel better soon
3Cats: I agree with the others...try to get some help sooner than later. I struggle just like you (I have my bouts with many angry moods and wanting to just curl up and sleep ALL day) my only saving grace is knowing I have an army of a family depending on me. {{{HUGS}}}
mizbear: I hope you get to feeling better soon too.
Sheila: So happy for Miss Pants and family. They are blessed to have a friend like you. That is so sad about the family situation but unfortunately that is more common than not.
Spruby: That is crazy..I would contact Whole Foods Corp. That is unacceptable!
SS: Congrats on all your hard work paying off. You are inspiring. Love the Christmas decorations!
Sorry if I missed anyone...I'll try to catch up more later. I need to go and finish up some house work before the kids get home from school. We are making Monster Cookies today!

startsmart - Thanks for the pinterest hookup. I did not realize you had to sign up through Facebook or twitter. I do not do either. Facebook makes me crazy and I only halfway know what twitter really is. I had to reactive my old Facebook account in order to sign up (hopefully that doesn't bring back any drama). I'm trying to figure it all out, but I think it's going well so far. Seems like a pretty cool thing. ;D

I got the best seasoning recipe from ZBear of all people! She stopped by with Ex-SILs little sister after her doctor's appt so A (ex-SILs sis) could have me stash ex-SILs gift here. She goes in my spice/seasoning supply and says- "ranch or taco". So we tossed the stuff with ranch dressing mix! How awesome! I love my nieces.

wow, what a busy, hectic day so far! I've been pretty productively lately so I guess today was my "down" day. I was even expecting to pay $15 for lunch at a networking group I attended but as a guest it was free. Woot!
Still not much under the ole Christmas tree but I've got time still, right?
Pretty exhausted though, I might go to bed really early. Don't want to get sick this time of year.

I don't think I had to sign up for pinterest through facebook or twitter, but I signed up a while ago and they may have changed how they do it. I know Spotify now requires that too, and I had signed up just in time to avoid that. So annoying they make you do that!

Update: 8NSD and 4 CSD
Last few days have been control spend days and I can foresee several additional ones this month.
Pinterest -- has me on th wait list for the last month. I emailed them about it but have not received a reply as of yet. I refuse to join FB or Twitter to use the service so if I don't get it I'm not going to worry about it.

I am not real observant when it comes to pintrest. I like looking at the pics and pinning things but I refuse to let them "post whenever they want to my facebook" so I can't see which on my fb friends have pintrest accounts and follow them. I just wait until they follow me and then I follow them back When it comes to fb- I find it much more enjoyable since I stopped being "friends" with my brother. Plus I am lucky now in that most of the people I am friends with are positive and mellow people so there is very little drama on fb as far as I am concerned. Last night was a spend. Picked up the fabric so I could finish making the bedding for the American Girl doll bed that I made for my niece for Christmas. I am normally more on the ball than this but for some reason my shopping, baking, making portions of Christmas are really dragging out. Still waiting for packages to be delivered, still have things to finish making, things to finish wrapping and don't even get me started on the baking side of things. Gee louise I am slacking this year!

money - yeah I wouldn't want to HAVE to have FB to sign up. And I don't connect the two. I'll post something when I want to but that's it.
sheila - I think I found you. Your profile pic is DS right? glad you're enjoying FB more! I "hid" the updates from a few negative people so I don't see them anymore, but I'm still friends with them.
Blue is traveling the rest of the week so it's just me and my kitties. Going to try to work on one of my many projects: wedding album, honeymoon album, making new iPod playlists since my old ones died with my hard drive... or I'll just watch tv haha.
