Good Morning Kids! We like tired & cranky here, toomuchreality. It's the new normal! I never owned a car until after I got married, so I'm too familiar with public transportation. And, I can't say this about every city, but in the one I grew up in, the worse the weather, the less likely the bus is to show up on time. If it shows up at all. I'll never forget visiting a major city near the East Coast with DD, and she apologized because we were going to have to wait 5 minutes for the bus. I told her, honey, that's nothing, as I'm used to waiting half an hour for a bus.

It doesn't drive around, picking people up, as much as the bus, although it does make lots of stops. It travels faster than the bus and without the smell of a bus. But there's more walking.

TMR so very nice to see you posting here! Thanks! It's nice to be able to post again. Laying flat on my back and not moving my arms wasn't working well for me, long term. I haven't gotten over to the other thread(s) yet, but I will. I hope.

When I took the express bus from Boulder to Denver daily, the bus was on time. I had to drive from my house to the parking garage. There is now a fee to park in the garage. Since it was the starting point for the bus, it did always leave full but it didn't stop until we were downtown Denver. It had a bit of a different route in the morning once it hit downtown than it did in the even. Where I got off in the morning was at the alley behind our building. That was good except for the morning there was a dead homeless man in the snow. He had been murdered by another homeless man with a knife.
Going home, I had to take the mall shuttle to the downtown Denver station. I'm told that has been torn down. Again, it was where the bus originated. During rush hour the buses ran every 15 to 20 minutes. I did have the 9 hour bus ride from hell on a very icy night but the driver did get us back to Boulder.
I took the bus when I worked in downtown Boulder. Since I worked downtown, I got a free bus pass as one of my perks. From where I lived, the buses only went once an hour. If the roads were bad, you never had any idea of when the next bus was going to arrive or if it would arrive.
When I lived in Louisville, the bus company was doing a test for a local bus when I worked at a particular tax office for 2 years. That office had the other full time person and me working 3 days of 8-4 once week and 2 days of noon to 8. The next week was reversed. I couldn't take the bus when I had to work until 8 because it stopped running earlier than that.
I knew that route was not going to last because often I was the only passenger.

I have always been a little anxious, riding the bus. You never know who else is going to get on with you, or if the driver would stay in control.
A few times, I had a large, smelly person sit next to me, on my stuff. That was awful. Their coats of many colors, always reeked.
Sometimes people got into arguments, that scared the Bejesus outta me.

Sometimes people got into arguments, that scared the Bejesus outta me. Sorry. It's generally a bit better for me although not always. The runs I am on usually are not full, so you don't have to sit with someone, but at times i do as some drivers are extremely impatient. So if one of the people in the front are by the window I sit there until I can move. Convention on this run is to sit in the front or towards the front if you are getting change back. Since I don't want them to cause soft tissue damage to my knee again, I sit in the first few rows. So, I can depart the bus quickly once its fully stopped. Sometimes that stop is hard and can throw you if you made the mistake to stand in the aisle because your stop is next. For me its mostly the weed smokers that work at the hospital that get on and reek of it. Or unfortunately if someone has a wheelchair it seems to take about 25 to 30 minutes to secure them. That's the entire time of one scheduled half of the bus run, or is supposed to be. But yes, busses get canceled more often the worse the weather is. And for this run if the tourists are going to NYC too much. Lately this one home gets delayed. them undelayed. It was nice yesterday to leave early and actually be able to see where I was walking. The sidewalks weren't much better than the morning, but the high was 22 I think with feels temps like 13 or so. I think these long johns must be light not even medium. I miss my heavyweight ones that I'd have to lose major weight to fit in. Or maybe if there was less wind my legs would not be so cold.

I miss my heavyweight ones that I'd have to lose major weight to fit in. Or maybe if there was less wind my legs would not be so cold. [/quot The wind has been the hardest part for me. It cuts right to your bones. And I don't like having cold, wet feet. That's just miserable to me. I'm glad your walk was safe, for you. When they allow you to leave early, do they allow everyone in your dept to leave? Do they close early? (Just curious.) It's about 5pm where I am. Yesterday, after taking DGD1 to her swimming lessons, we stopped by Walmart and I picked up some pjs, socks, bras and a few Reebok sweats, so I have more than 2 outfits to wear during the day and sleep in at night. DD2 picked me up some underwear, the first night I was here. So this evening, I am trying everything on and washing it, so I can wear it. I prefer new clothes be washed before I wear them. I'll need to wash my current clothes, after I shower and change, later. They suggested I stay at DD'S for about 3-14 days, before I try to live independently again. To be sure I'm stable and to not exert myself too much. Recovery will actually take 6 months, if everything goes well. Feb 1st, my lease is up. We've been trying to find me a new place, that is on the ground floor. That's been hard. But my kids have been amazing. I hope everyone is still friends, when all is said and done. I'm also avoiding my mgmt co right now, until we figure out what we're doing, to avoid signing a new lease. There's still so much going on. Lots of stress for everyone, unfortunately. Have a good night!

I was hoping you were not at your apartment because of it being on the 3rd floor.
I hope you can find a different apartment so you no longer have to walk those stairs. Don't want you having another heart attack.

toomuchreality sending good thoughts that you are able to find a ground level place to live that is quiet and safe. In addition doesn't have kooky neighbors who want to borrow a plunger in the middle of the night. We actually reached a high of 19 degrees today. There was about an inch of new snow over night and then just a small amount of freezing rain today. Tomorrow looks to be more snow.

I can't believe how emotional I have been since everything happened. Esp right after surgery. Does something they use t put you out/under, impact a person's emotions this way? Even after surgery I had, back in the early 70's, I cried immediately after, because my older brother came to the hospital to see me, with my mom and younger brother and sister. The memory still makes me cry. After one of the other surgeries I had last week, I cried for my ferret, right after. But immediately after one of the surgeries, last week (hadn't left the operating room yet), I pulled a blanket over my head and demanded a McDonald's cheeseburger! After one of the procedures, I sobbed when they told me the surgery wasn't a success. Maybe that's just how I am? IDK.

At 7:30pm it's supposed to be 35° outside (feels like 30). I think it feels like 35° inside ! I'll be glad to get my sweatshirt on.

Wow. It is almost 10PM and they're saying it's 37° but still feels like it's 30°. The next several days are supposed to be 40 or above, but not feel any warmer.
I must say, being told it's 40° "feels" a whole lot warmer to my brain than being told it's 30°.
Stay warm kids! Don't let that ice rain(?) poke you in the eye!

It's not unusual for patients to cry, have depression, etc. It's not you--it's your body's response to the drugs. And, it can actually mess with your emotions for days, so just try & roll with it, if you can. Ask your doctor for help if you think you need it. So sorry you're dealing with all of this, on top of the surgery. Hope you're feeling like your regular self soon!

That alone is causing lack of sleep in some and you had several surgeries om top of that too. Hydrate enough, its part of what is is keeping me from sleeping enough.

Just walked into my collection of boxes and crap which is recyclables, both paper and plastic (separate bags) and the collection of boxes and plastic shipping crap to be reused for shipping whatever back or recycled hopefully at a grocery store plastic bag bin. It was a bad trip because of my lack of sleep, so I moved the box for the boots that have to go back to the top of my bed for now, The recycling crap area sticks out less now so hopefully I won't trip on it anymore today.
Too cold right now to risk emptying the bag with plastic bottles and aluminum cans etc. Won't be above freezing I think until around 2PM or so. Bummed and lacking motivation. On Tuesday I got a letter on official letterhead allegedly from my boss's boss. I think my boss wrote it and he OK'd it but no one seemed to actually check as here is the last sentence -
Your desire to grow within the Bank is recognize and appreciate.
I see three errors in that last sentence, missing d's for recognize and appreciate. I would not capitalize the word Bank as the formal name of our merged bank is not spelled out. I would have written as bank which I think is grammatically correct. This is not from HR which is more usual (in other companies but that might not be the case here) and feels more like my boss trying to insure I don't quit than any appreciation at all from her or her boss. So it makes me sadder than any other emotion.
I am also sad since dad moved to the hospice residence as the nursing coverage is one person who rarely answers the phone in my experience. Phone support is done by volunteers M-F only during the hours I work. I think I probably have talked to him for the last time regardless of when he finally passes. If the assistant manager is not in today, been out sick since Tuesday, I will have to give up close to all of my remaining lunch time to leave for an earlier bus so I can get my first tooth extraction consult done. If she is in I might be allowed to take a half day. I would really like to have the extraction done and healed before I fly. I am concerned flying might bring about enormous pain there and it already is sensitive now.
Need to shift to get to work crap like making some sort of lunch, Feed Moonshadow and clean the cage a bit, and spray Crestie's cage enough as humidity is too low and could endanger his life if I don't. it will be roughly as slick and cold as last nights walk and I was frozen in my legs everywhere not covered by my jacket way b4 I was home. Not looking forward to it and the day at work today.

It's approximately 5:45AM and I haven't gone back to sleep. I wish I could get up, without bothering anyone and get my clean laundry/put it away. Since I can't sleep, I would at least be using this time better. Note: Kids beds/ mattresses are not made well, for adults. Very lumpy! ❤

I was hoping you were not at your apartment because of it being on the 3rd floor. I hope you can find a different apartment so you no longer have to walk those stairs. Don't want you having another heart attack. Thanks. I don't want to have another one either, although they made it sound as if I'll need to get the last procedure done again, in a few months. Not sure if that means another heart attack, or if they'll be able to detect an issue with my beats being out of whack. This was my 3rd heart attack. Each one being more intense than the one before. They're definitely not fun. I've been wondering, asking my PCP, if it would be good to move from the 3rd floor, or if the stairs were good exercise for my heart? I was under the impression that they were good. But I think now, my heart is becoming worn out. The cardiologists have suggested it would be better if I don't. Maybe so my different body parts wear out about the same time? I D K. Thank you.

Good Morning Kids! It's the glamorous life, I tell you! I'm off to an expensive part of town to go shopping. It's to get a bra to wear for my MOB dress, as I can't get the alterations done until I have "the" bra.

Good to see you back, toomuchreality. We missed you, and we were worried. Please take care of yourself. And when you have a chance, please pop over to the "What are you doing...?" thread and let everyone know you're back.

FYI- Pop is something I no longer do, along with fast and real quick (my GDs will verify this. LOL). I've been meaning to post on that thread, but haven't been awake long enough to do it. I normally try to at least scan the missed posts, to get an idea what I've missed. But maybe I should forgo that for now and just say hi. I'm not currently at home, or at DD2s. We're running some errands and looking at an apt right now. It's so exciting!

I D K. Thank you. What was your last procedure, if you are willing to share? Sometimes you have to work within the limitations of the heart, kidneys, or whatever is healing. If you can get somewhere with a first floor or an elevator, that might improve your health. You can always PM PMD and ask some advice too.

Get some rest this afternoon!

I need a nap. I'd forgotten how exhausting bra shopping can be. Haven't found anything strapless that fits, but the store's "fitter" found me 2 bras with straps that fit well, so I bought 'em. (I spent too much---shhhhh!)

Ditto, busymom. I went to a specialty bra shop after years of just feeling like my bras did not really fit. I walked out with two Wacoal bras (different styles), very pricey. It was around $140 for two bras. But I managed to snag a few more of the same styles from the Wacoal website when they're discontinuing a particular color. I always open the texts from Wacoal about their latest sale.
