Good Morning Kids! Ok, whoever has been praying for rain can stop now. It's coming down HARD. The good news on my relative is, the feeding tube has been removed, and he might get to go back to his nursing home today. That's great news! I hope he's able to go back to his nursing home today. What a relief!

busymom that is great news about your relative. Today is supposed to be another cooler day before we climb back into the 100's. Right now I'm doing some housework but hope to get the lawn mowed for the week and possibly pull some weeds.

Hiya peeps! It's hot out there. I did the usual swim/Walmart run this morning and then errands. On my way back from the bank, treated myself to another pair of running shoes.

I hate clothes/shoe shopping in general. But running shoes? Workout gear? I am so there!

Aargh! Well, the good news is my relative is back at the nursing home. The bad news is, it took about 1/2 hour & 3 phone calls to find him. Apparently the nursing home hadn't entered him back into their computer system yet when he was returned. Doggone weekend help.

I hope you can relax a bit now. I have a bold black stripe in the middle of my screen (phone), so if my post reads weird, or wrong, I'm sorry. It seems to be the web page, not my phone that has an issue.

My power has gone out twice in the last hour. It's a harsh reminder of how dependent we/I've become on electricity and other modern technology.
It's SO dark! And I no longer live near family, or friends. It's not a good feeling.

We had big time thunderstorms last night. Since midnight, we have had over 1.5 inches of rain.

Hello peeps. Tried out a new trail for a run this morning. Meh. Did not love or hate it, but hey, a training run is what it is, right? Trying to stick to the lighter side -- too hot out there!

I've been working on making homemade English muffins. One batch is done and the second is on its second rising. I've also got soup bones and all kinds of good stuff simmering away in the crockpot making beef broth. It will simmer until tomorrow afternoon. Today I also got the gutters along the back of the house cleaned out. I could tell it had been sometime since they had been done. I don't think the previous owner had any clue about routine home maintenance. I still need to do the ones in front but it was too hot.

Good Evening Kids! It's been a very full day, but a good one. We brought treats to church, and ordered food for pick-up at a nearby restaurant to eat at home to celebrate our anniversary. DH & I are officially old married folks now, even though he plans to keep working for a number of years yet. toomuchreality, do you have dogs to keep the trouble-makers away when the power goes out? That's one thing I'm thankful for in owning dogs.

Well sh*t. I'm glad I had one day that was peaceful. Gotta run down to the nursing home. Relative has a very high fever & has told the doctor he doesn't want to go back to the hospital.

Once mom made that decision, she never did go back to a hospital. She had had enough.

At least it's his decision and not yours. I'm glad you're not making that choice for him. But it's sad that he's not wanting to fight any more.

I'm back home for a bit, then I'm going back to the nursing home. I did speak to him, and he seemed very lucid, and made clear that he does not want to go back to the hospital. Part of me is very sad, but part of me understands, as the last time he was at the hospital, he was all sorts of hooked up, including a ventilator & a tube in his neck, so I'm trying to respect that he is tired & just had enough of it all. I'm setting up a CD player for him. If he's not strong enough to read, which is one of his favorite things, he can listen to music or books, which he also enjoys very much. Trying my best to make his transition as peaceful as possible, if it is indeed his time to go.

Trying my best to make his transition as peaceful as possible, if it is indeed his time to go. That was mom's thought process and she was at home. She was tired of ambulances and hospitals and not getting better. She decided enough was enough. It's hard but she knew exactly what she was doing. When the hospital social worker talked to her, we were told no POA needed to get involved, that she was capable of making her own decision. The hospice social worker said the same thing and mom signed all of the paperwork herself. She did ask us if we were mad. How could we be mad? It was her life and only she knew how much she had suffered. She was tired of being poked everywhere and nothing was going to change to make her feel better. She was tired of oxygen and still being short of breath. I'm sorry he is in so much pain, but I understand his decision.

My neighbor showed up today with two more cantaloupe and 14 ears of corn. That makes 6 cantaloupes he has brought me since end of last week. As much as I love cantaloupe I can't eat that much. DD took one this morning and she said she would take another one tomorrow when she comes by. I already had 6 ears of corn that DD had brought me, but it needed to be getting used up. I blanched those plus about 5 of the ones the neighbor brought me, cut it off the cob and popped it into the freezer.
