Good Afternoon Kids! I'm drinking lots of water today, but I just don't feel good. Heat index is going to be flirting with 110, so DS & I did our errands very early this morning, and we plan to spend the rest of the day indoors. I'm not liking how the vegetable garden looks right now. We are watering & babying it, but as I've mentioned, it's very early here for this kind of heat. Time will tell if our garden will produce this year, or not. It's hard to much more than a shriveled veggie, when it's so hot out. Is there any way to shade them?

I hope to get my oil changed in the morning. I saw a coupon online for $59.95. If it costs much more than that, it will have to wait. I wish they were open, so I could call and verify. I'm not a morning person, AT ALL. So getting it done before I watch DGDs is going to be tough. To me, 3pm is early! 😖 I got my oil changed, so the freaking notification that kept coming on when I started my car, has been reset. Hooray! And on my way home tonight, I stopped at the auto parts store and bought a new cap,to cover where the windshield washer fluid goes. The old cap was broken and only 2 small pieces were left of it. I've never seen that happen before! Next I need to get my rotors replaced. $700 is what I was told to expect it to cost. Not sure when I'll be able to get that done. Then tires. It's never ending. But at least my oil is taken care of. 🙂

Only half of my vegetable garden gets any shade, and it's only in the early part of the day. We've got the sprinkler running right now. I just got home from a short trip to the grocery store, and even this late in the day, the temps are in the mid-90's. Welcome to August weather in June.

busymom It's hot enough and humid enough here that my sister has her hubby, son and grandson who are out working on the farm set an alarm on their phones and come in the house to hydrate and cool off. She also won't let them work on what they are doing right now in the afternoon because it's too hot. They are tearing down an old grain bin so it's physical labor.

Setting an alarm on your phone is a good idea, when it's so hot.

It's easy to not realize how hot you are when you are working outdoors. If you have overdone it before you realize it, it's miserable and can lead to heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
My nephew works in a bank so he is not used to the heat. He did look worse for the wear yesterday. Much worse than his dad or 17 year old nephew.

Good Morning Kids! Welcome to the longest day of the year! Today is a day that I miss Sugi, as this was also one of her favorite days of the year. I just can't seem to sleep these days when there is so much daylight. Oh well, wouldn't want to miss it. The sun is up before I roll out of bed, and we STILL have daylight until between 9 & 9:30 pm, which is why I love this time of the year. It is still hot, but not as hot as yesterday. We got some rain overnight, which helped the temperature to drop, but as you may have guessed, amped up the humidity. Slow & easy is the rule for today. I've already gotten the dogs outside.

The weather Guru's lied to us (again). Only got to 99 instead of the predicted 100+. Heat index was 106, but that's beside the point.

Good Morning Kids! How are you feeling these days, snapdragon? The temps aren't bad this morning, mid-70's. But, you can feel the humidity ramping up, so we'll probably be melting again this afternoon.

I don't do well in high humidity. I feel like I'm drowning. Take care!

Sharon I finally decided that old cat litter with some kind of fragrance in it had to go. So all of it went in yesterday's trash. Now when I open the door from the garage to the house, I am not immediately hit with the smell of that fragrance or any other kind of cat smell. Not buying that kind again. I don't care if it's cheaper if it's going to make my house smell. snapdragon I hope you heal completely and smoothly.

Good Evening Kids! I'm the first one at the coffee shop today?!? I gues it IS a busy time of the year... I just LOVE the fact that it's 9 pm, and there is still plenty of daylight. I could get used to this. Like, year-round.

I just plain like working on the yard in the evening. Watering the garden, etc., it's just so peaceful at that time of day. It sure beats the heck out of a 5 pm sunset.

I'm so glad I spent the money to get the pool up and running. I've always enjoyed swimming, swam on swim team from about age 10 through high school. So far I've been in the pool every day. Some days not for long but it is so relaxing at the end of day to get in and even just walk back and forth. The kids have been over a couple of times to practice what they are learning in swim lessons. DGS1 is being a total butthead at swim lessons and about half the time refuses to even get in the pool. Then he comes over to my house and blows bubbles and kicks and his legs. Part of it is he is 3 and part of it is he is really shy like his Dad. He is plenty smart and can watch and figure out what they are doing but he doesn't want anyone to watch him do it. DSIL had to repeat first grade because every time the teacher would call on him he would hide under the desk. I will have them all day tomorrow while DD and DSIL go sign papers to sell their house. They will be taking DGS2 with them so I will just have the two older ones and the dog. It is supposed to be close to 90 tomorrow and if the dog is over here she doesn't have to be tied up all day.

Good Afternoon Kids! Humidity & heat is back, and there may be tornadoes North & West of us tonight. Trying to focus on the positive today. I ordered a box from Bealls, the one store I miss from living "down South", and it arrived today, including a sea turtle rug for our bathroom.

Peeps, it has been a day, hasn't it? Like a he!! in a handbasket kind of day. The news on TV is so awful I went out and mowed the backyard and weeded the garden before dinner. Dinner was good, though. Roasted pork loin and black beans and rice.

I misread this as “tomatoes” and thought that @pinkcshmere is really branching out. LOL! We actually DO have tomato plants in the garden, but they haven't grown much, as our weather has been extreme, going back & forth from too hot to too cool, and back again. Speaking of which, it's still 86 degrees right now, and barely an hour to sunset.

I'm glad you got stuff done and enjoyed your dinner! I actually had a pretty good day, today. I enjoyed spending it with my granddaughters. ♡♡♡ First thing the youngest said to me this morning was, "Go Away!". While holding her hand up, in a STOP mode. This concerned me about how the rest of the day was going to go. But after I made scrambled eggs for breakfast and they ate, we were all friends. I love them to pieces! ♡♡♡

Morning peeps! Did the swim and the Walmart stop. Fixed a protein shake and green tea for breakfast, vacuumed the rugs and started laundry.

Watched sister wake the Toddler about 9 AM. Have no idea if his aunts and uncles and cousins were out last night.
In his defense, it's dark and rainy and I slept in, too. Don't know how he does during storms, but I had two cats crawling on me during the scary lightning.

I slept in this morning. DD and DSIL didn't get back until later than expected yesterday. DGD can be challenging at times and yesterday was one of those days. She was pushing every button and we butted heads multiple times during the day. At one point she told me Grandma I need to go home to my Mommy because I'm not making good choices. DGS1 is also potty training, in Grandma's opinion that should have been done long ago but I keep my opinions to myself. He did pretty good but had one major poopy accident.
I need to get busy and get out into the yard before it gets too hot this afternoon.

Good Morning Kids! We got rain overnight, which we really needed, but of course now we're dealing with humidity once again. I too slept in, after waking up a few times during the night.
No big plans today other than cleaning, and maybe a bit of baking.
