When I worked in the office at casinos in Colorado, I can't tell you how many elderly people pulling oxygen tanks with a cigarette dangling from their mouth I would see every day.

I got my first long walk in this morning... a little sore but not bad.

Good Afternoon Kids! We did make it to church this morning. DD is still figuring out what to do about the furnace. The gas to it is shut off, but she can run the air conditioner without it, but obviously she must make a decision before Fall. Thanks for brunch, NancysSummerSip! Glad you're getting back to normal. I put on some fitness clothing before taking a walk this afternoon, and frankly am pleased with how I'm looking after losing 20 pounds. Of course, losing more weight would be even better...

Today would have been my Dad's 81st Birthday. I took Mom out to the cemetery this morning, she likes to place flowers on peoples birthdays. Now I'm still trying to get the house in order while simultaneously emptying the garage for the garage/estate sale this coming weekend.

I seriously doubt if many of them should have been gambling either since most were playing penny machines. Most likely living on SS.

Good grief. Nobody ever blew themselves up? Oxygen and cigarettes. What a combo!

Is DD's furnace repairable busymom ? It's a mess. At first, we were told that a gas valve needed to be replaced, which fortunately was covered under the repair plan that DD had gotten thru the local utility company. But, now that's been done, & it's looking like the heat exchanger may be cracking. If that's the problem, the furnace will need to be replaced. Which creates a mess, because whoever set up the water heater did it wrong, so replacing the furnace will result in replacing the water heater. Then, the AC unit is older than dirt, and I expect that'll need replacing soon, too. Overall, the guy who inspected the house shouldn't be in the business of inspections, because he missed some major problems. It's going to be expensive work.

Sorry your DD's first experience in buying/owning her first home has turned into a money pit nightmare

Hi Kids! Today went by very quickly. I had to run a bunch of errands, including buying dog food for Speedy. Also, I picked up a few groceries.
My contractor came back today, but now I'm sure this will be his last project for awhile. Need to get a bit more painting done, along with some little odds & ends.

busymom How's your DD's house coming along? Has she got her stuff sorted and arranged yet? I hope the furnace thing doesn't turn into a major financial stumbling block. It's a shame that the home inspector can be held liable for missing something as major as that. And for you...watch out for those "little odds and ends." Those are the kinds of things that almost always turn into "Oh, look! Shiny!" things for me The balloon flowers. The ones I bought this year are growing straight up and are about 12-15" high. The ones that were already there? They're hugging the ground like they always have. Go figure. Maybe they're different varieties?

Good Afternoon Kids! Thanks for the update on your balloon flowers, @missrigby, as I was wondering how your plants were doing. Well, I got my living room furniture delivered today. I mostly love it, but I'm debating whether or not to exchange one of the end tables, as the finish on it is a bit strange on one side.

Today is garage sale day 1, it is supposed to be over 100 degrees. We aren't ready because my brother did a and run of two pickup loads of stuff last night after 6pm. Stuff that of course had to be sorted etc. We haven't had time to price yet. I'm exhausted, the kids are exhausted. We need more tables. Last night I told DD we should just leave the garage doors open all night and just sell what's left.

Good Afternoon Kids! I did call & leave a message for my salesperson. Actually, BOTH end tables will need to be exchanged, because there's something wrong with the drawer on the other piece. DH got an electric recliner out of the deal, and although he won't admit it, I think he likes it. The smoke is awful here from the wildfires (Canada). I can't go outside to exercise. On the news they were saying if you breathe deeply when the air is this bad, it'll take 2 weeks to clear your lungs. Boo!

Smoke is really bad here also. It's so dark and dreary. The sun can't get through it.

Hello peeps! Very hot here but that is our normal. Stayed at the pool for 90 minutes this morning; foot seems to be OK with it, though I cannot kick well as yet. Ran some errands, including the bike shop (needed new swim goggles, since my favorite pair broke) and of course, cannot resist other little things. Went to Walmart this afternoon to use a gift card DH has. It was pre-hurricane nuts there, but it is a school tax-free shopping weekend. And yes, I did wear a mask. Cannot imagine why I ever went into that place without one. Came home and ran the vacuum over the rugs. Enjoying a fresh pitcher of iced tea now.

Hot as stink out there, kids. I tried to keep brunch cool. I even got umbrellas for the drinks, it's so hot.

Thanks NancysSummerSip. Weather cooled off and we got a little (.22") of much needed rain this morning.

DD and kids left last night. The garage sale was somewhat successful. I think it was too hot for people to be out and I guess another neighborhood in another part of town was having a big neighborhood sale. Now I'm just trying to get everything cleaned up. My brother is supposed to come and pick up the tables, possibly this afternoon. It will be interesting to see what he takes of Dad's stuff that is left. I suspect it is now my problem. I threw away the 4" stack of old newspapers that Grandma had saved of notable times. Yes someone may want them but I don't have the time to deal with them.
DD did return the picnic table, benches and ladder that we borrowed from my Mom. She also took back what was left of her stuff. I have been catching up on laundry and sorting things out that could possibly be sold elsewhere and stuff that is just going to be donated. My brother did say they have a missionary closet at there church and thought that they would take some of my Grandma's kitchen stuff. It is boxed up and waiting for him. My brother did stop by yesterday and I was able to guilt him into hanging my curtain rod and moving my desk back into place. Now I can finish putting the office together.

Good Afternoon Kids! I just didn't feel good just before going to bed last night, so I opted to stay home from church today. One member just had a new baby (and sure enough brought that baby to church), plus I know of at least one senior citizen who hasn't gotten a Covid shot yet, so just on the chance that I had it, I watched church online instead. I do feel a bit better today, so maybe it's just all of the smoke in our air that's making me sick...

The smoke has been bothering me. I'm going outside as little as possible. That's actually the advice for the elderly. I guess at 69, that means me.

I think we are one of the few states the smoke has missed. But it is really hazy awful hot here. I think we have a critter or two tunneling under the west side of the house. Judging from the raised dirt, it appears to be moles. Not big enough for raccoons. Trapper is coming out tomorrow, as is the gas company to refill our propane. No storms out there, but we are below the 60% level.

It was very hot and humid again today. We are expecting a cool down by the end of the week and even a slight chance of a shower. I'm still trying to get the garage back in order from the garage sale, hopefully in a couple of day the car can start spending the night in the garage again.
