Sorry about your funk, Sharon. It takes time to get used to losing a loved one. You don't "get over" it, but it does get easier to bear. When I get really down, working in the garden helps me.

Like Miss R says, it takes time Sharon. I knew I was feeling better about the loss of each parent when I could start smiling over an old memory. Hang in there! Good Morning Kids! It looks like it'll be a nice day out. The sun is shining, and my tulips and bleeding heart plants are blooming at the same time, which is unusual, but pretty.

The bat shit crazy stink bus is on the move! According to Bat Shit Crazy Aunt P's fb yesterday, she is on her way to freak out crazy Aunt S in Virginia. My cousin, bless his dumbass heart, is posting how excited he is to see his "favorite aunt". OH sweetie, it's been years since she was that nice, fun & loving. She was everyone's favorite aunt back then. If she stays there for more than a few days reality is going to smack him in the ass hard. His bitchy wife & crazy mother (crazy Aunt S) hate each other. That's fertile ground for shit stirring bat shit crazy Aunt P. His only saving grace may be that his bitchy wife is well known for not taking any family shit. I mean, she's the only one to ever actually BAN crazy Aunt S from her house...forever...and stuck to it! If she can avoid getting sucked into "playing nice nice" bat shit crazy, it might not be an epic shit show. But it's gonna be an epic shit show. LOL The Stink bus is taking the "scenic" route. Went from Tampa Bay to Jacksonville. Went to a "school bus meet up" with other weird people who live & travel around in school buses. Then up to Savannah. Beebopped over to Hilton Head Island in South Carolina & we all went thank gawd she's in another state now. But spoke too soon, she doubled back to come see not my Uncle John. He must be somewhere in Athens, because that was her next check in. Then she hooked it north back into South Carolina. Now she's near the North Carolina/Virginia border. We're taking guesses on where she will summer this year. Back to Colorado? Further up north? It will be somewhere it doesn't get ball blazing hot. She should be in Richmond Virginia by tomorrow. Good luck to my cousin, his bitchy wife & crazy Aunt S! They're gonna need it! lol

Good Morning Kids! It's already time for DS for his check-up at the dentist. Last year, it didn't seem like the calendar was moving at all, and this year time is flying by. Better tell your relatives to duck & cover, steff!

steff Thanks for the update. I'm far enough away from Athens that I don't worry about Aunt P heading this way. Curious, though, if you were ever able to figure out where in Athens she might have stashed Not Your Uncle.

Good Evening Kids! Once again, my contractor didn't show. Nothing unusual, but it gets old, especially when he calls early in the day to tell me he has to pick up a few things, then he'll be right over. At least I've got things to work on at home, but I hate feeling "trapped" while I wait...

busymom I think I would be looking for a new contractor. I get that things happen now and again but he seems to place you at the very bottom of his list. I got through my Aunts funeral service today, it was hard. It was still too close to Dad's service and then she is buried next to Dad. It is a family plot that my Grandparents purchased and there will be room for my Mom and my Uncle when they pass but the way things line up...... It was hard I wasn't ready to go and see Dad's headstone yet. My hope had been to go and see the kids this weekend and get some playtime with the grands, that always makes me feel better. DD messaged me and said that DGD woke up from her nap with a fever and that DGS1 woke up with a green snotty nose. No floffles for me this weekend.

I'm sorry you won't see the grandkids this weekend.
I've been to town to pick up a prescription and make an Amazon return.

Good Afternoon Kids! Well, I knew he wouldn't show up today. It is Friday, after all... He's got a lot of personal drama at home right now, so when he finally finishes this project, I'm going to take a break from home improvements for awhile... Cloudy here today. But, the temps are mild, and the blooming flowers are just perfect!

And, even before we moved originally, and Covid hit, there was already a shortage of contractors. So many folks here are dissatisfied with their houses, after being stuck at home with Covid, that finding anyone to do work now is VERY difficult. Long wait lists. (Yes, he was more punctual in previous years.) I may need to ask a Facebook group, or something, to see if there is anyone "young & hungry" who would welcome the work.

Sharon, I'm sorry to hear your grandbabies are sick. I remember when DD started preschool, that she'd bring all kinds of illness home to share with the family. Urgent care got a lot of business from us, up until she was in about first grade...

OMG steff glad you warned me. My brother lives in MD but travels to VA on business. I will warn him to BOLO for the bananas bus with the defiantly whacko driver. Folks, it has been a week. We've had lines at gas stations and people hoarding gas in Publix shopping bags -- OK, the batnuts lady who did this did at least double-bag them. But grocery bags? Makes you want to walk up to her with a flame thrower screaming, "DARWIN AWARD FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Things are getting back to normal -- we are not even on the damned pipe line here -- and I have a full tank for my swim meet this weekend. Should be able to top off by Sunday if needed. I will be leaving home early both days, but there are no relays and the number of swimmers attending is limited due to COVID restrictions, which were tougher when the meet was announced (they will now open up the locker rooms for real showers - yay!).

I am so full that I am in danger of exploding, but what I good meal I had. Where I work was doing an employee appreciation week and one of the items we received was $12 off from a local BBQ place. Well at least somewhat local to where our employer is located. Our team decided to do a meet up and have lunch together. Most of us hadn't seen each other in over a year and the one guy we had never met in person. He started after we were all sent home. It was so good to see the team again. I got the brisket meal with my sides being corn and cole slaw. It was a little over the $12 limit but who cares. It was great food and good company. My mental so needed to get out and see and interact with people who aren't my family.

BTW, how is "Speedy" doing? He's growing like a weed. I've got him signed up for a one-on-one puppy training class later this month. He's got a bit of attitude, so I want to deal with it now, & not later. Beware of herding dogs as pets, as they will try & herd their humans...

Serious question as I've never had or been around a "herding dog". Do they circle you and try to make you go a different direction?

Do they circle you and try to make you go a different direction? They nip at you to get you to move wherever they want you. The funny part is, we gave him a can of tennis balls, and he "herds" those 3 balls. It's really funny to watch when he does that, keeping them all together.

We had sheltie collies the whole time I was growing up. They would run in circles and bark trying to herd us up and sometimes even nip the back of our legs. They especially hated if we were walking on the beach right along the surf. We needed to get away from that water. My Dad or my brother would sometimes run off in another direction just to watch the dog try and herd them back.

Ours can count, I swear. She lays were she can see the all of us and cries if someone is on another level of the house. And yes, she will herd us. She 'wanders' in circles around us and bumps us lightly (9 people live in our house now). After a little bit, we will realize that she's managed to get the people to all stand in one small area. Then she lays down and watches us.

She's a border collie and mini aussie mix. Wicked smart and super energetic! It's a good thing my big dog is so laid back and easy going.

Good Evening Kids! Whew, it's been a long day. DD's college friends stopped by, but only stayed here for about an hour before heading out to a regional park to do some BBQing. I've been going through my closet & trying to figure out what to wear at church tomorrow, since we haven't been to a service in person since Covid started getting ugly. House is cleaner than average. And, I washed my car. So, I feel like it's been a fairly productive day.

Wow, everyone must be having a fab Sunday. I got back about 2 hours ago and had to eat and unload the car. Started laundry and did some bathroom cleaning. I have two appointments this week, and an open water swim next Sunday, so it will be a tight week.
Quick snack, anyone?

I worked in my yard this morning until both yard debris bins were full. Then I went over to Mom's and worked two more hours. Unfortunately for Mom that will be the last time I try and help her with yard work. I was working among her roses and the weeds were very tall and the roses haven't been pruned in over two years if not three. My thought was if I got some of the weeds out of the way she could walk along and prune roses and not need to be getting up and down. The first words out of her mouth were "You know there is columbine planted in there." Yes I know about the columbine and weeded around it. I could still tell she was mad and she thinks I pulled up some of her columbine. A Thank you would have been nice. I have been considering moving closer to DD and after today that decision will be a whole lot easier to make.

Good Afternoon Kids! It's been a long day, and I need to think about starting dinner (pasta & sauce, I think...). Since our local license bureau won't currently allow us to buy our license tabs in person, I figured out how to do it online. Maybe you can teach a middle-aged dog a few new tricks.
