NancysSummerSip Yes ice cream is a necessity. I think you can purchase ice cream at grocery stores. I know it is not as good as the stuff you find at ice cream shoppes. I have been very good at refraining from eating ice cream. Do not want to gain weight.

I have been very good at refraining from eating ice cream. Do not want to gain weight. I've stuck to frozen yogurt pops; I look at it as a single controllable serving, rather than the temptation of a whole pint or half-gallon. And some of the stores do have some really excellent craft brands. What I miss is our local ice cream makers; it would be nice to continue to support the locals who make a living at it. We have a gelato shop nearby rated the best in the state.
Some coffee shops are open (the ones selling full service food); maybe they should pair up with the ice cream makers? Or how about we bring back ice cream trucks? I grew up with Good Humor; I miss that.

That's o.k. Just wanted to be sure you were doing well. Frankly, there's not a whole lot going on here. Trying to stay at home most of the time, and packing. How exciting, huh? Has anyone else noticed weird businesses in your community that are still open, when they probably should be closed? There's no place open here if you need a haircut, but I was shocked to see not one, but TWO nail salons open for business. I don't consider that a necessity. No nail salons open here; I thought the governor's closure order included those. I am surprised. Now my salon also offers waxing services. That, I do miss. Talk about getting hairy and ugly out there for some of us. Personally, I am debating with myself about why liquor stores are open but ice cream shops aren't. I consider good ice cream a necessity...doesn't everyone? Nope. The liquor stores and pot shops are open here. Those are necessities.

Liquor and gun stores are open. Ice cream stores are closed. This could get ugly.

I think everyone got carried away with closing everything. Either you will get sick or you won't.

Well, letting the kids come down for Spring Break is biting Florida in the a$$ right now. Especially in the Miami area. Today, the beaches in St. John's County are FINALLY closed (think St. Augustine). Took 'em long enough to figure out that being the ONLY beach open in the area is NOT a good idea...

A sort-of rest day for me -- got another third of the hallway grout and tile cleaned. Disinfected the shower stall and I am doing laundry.
A crazy thing happened yesterday. Turns out my next door neighbor, mother of four boys, is sick. Nature of illness unknown. She was sent away to treatment in Wisconsin (!) which makes no sense, given that we have world-class hospitals here, including one less than 10 minutes away where DH went after his stroke. The coronavirus has definitely meant an uptick in patients, but the place is by no means overrun; they just opened a new wing, two new buildings (cancer and pediatrics) and have two outpatient centers empty and ready to use if needed. So it's not overcrowding or lack of supplies here, even with the snowbirds still hanging around. Several other neighbors have tried to reach her DH, but no response. Her kids are with her parents nearby, so at least they are safe. I happened to see a stranger walking into their house yesterday and I approached asking if I could help. Turned out to be the mom's 84-year-old grandmother there to clean the house and do six loads of laundry. I offered to do a load of towels for her. She was grateful for the help. Four kids make a lot of dirty clothes, it seems. Grandma is a very sweet lady with a lot of energy and an Irish brogue that could cut potatoes. I like her. Wish I still had my grandma. I hope all will be well in this situation. Thank you for helping this sweet Grandma with the towels. I'm sure it was much appreciated.

Anyone suffering from the pain for which medical marijuana is deemed useful, I'm OK with that kind of access. I'd hate to see more pain on top of what's already happening. The liquor store thing is something else, though. I'm not objecting to it, though I don't drink. I just wonder who drew the line on this and why. Maybe the ice cream stores and the liquor stores could become partners, sell their products together with recipe cards? I can see a whole new line of "mother's little helper" drinks coming out of this. We could name them appropriately: Substitute Teacher On The Rocks, Gimme Shelter Gimlet, Bloody Tired Of This House, I Scream, You Scream For Booze And Ben And Jerry's..... I could keep going, but I need to finish folding laundry and go to bed.

I had to get gas for the car today, and I had to go inside the building for a minute. The owner of this place managed to rig up a big chunk of plexiglass from the ceiling, to protect the employees from getting coughed on by the customers. Sort of like the sneeze guard you see at a salad bar, but this thing was hanging from the ceiling, and stopped about 10 inches from the countertop at the register. If anything good comes from this virus, it's that people are showing creativity in dealing with it.

I'm wondering if the siding crew will show up today. It's blowing and raining like crazy out there. If they do show up I'm going to tell them that I don't mind them setting up their saws and stuff in the garage. What's a little mess if it gives them a chance to get out of the rain for a few moments.

Good Morning Kids! It's sunny here, and you can just feel the humidity ramping up.
I had to go out to buy more moving supplies. Target is sanitizing their keypads at the registers between each customer, but Wally World, not so much...

So, how many deaths are you OK with? A million? Two million? Five million? Twenty million? The less you do, the more people will die.

Perhaps you should just stick to stuffing your face with bacon.

Good Morning Kids! We actually had a tornado south of us last evening. The one good thing about the storm is that the temps have cooled down quite a bit.
I need to run 2 errands, then we'll be spending the rest of the day packing & organizing.

The number doesn't matter as long as certain folks are included. What happens, happens. It is beyond our control and would not even be an issue if they press wasn't looking for a crisis story.

Almost a million infections and 40,000 dead, but it's not an issue. It's just something cooked up by the mainstream media.

I don't care if your think this was spread by an alien that Putin keeps in his basement. JUST STAY HOME, and don't endanger the rest of us.

Today was nice and quiet, no one showed up to work on my house. They finished the siding yesterday but there are still a few things to finish up.
