My house is a freaking disaster zone at the moment. The tear off of the siding started today. So far the project has brought me bat guano on the side of the house. Apparently at one point I had bats living between the two layers of siding. I found more rat damage up in the attic. It has been discovered that there is no underlayment, which apparently not doing that was against code when the house was built and to not have it now is really, really against code. Another $2100 cha ching thank you very much.
Because of no underlayment they had to move the installation of the windows up because they have to put the windows in before they do the underlayment. They can't take the second layer of siding off and leave it off for a few days because the house might twist without the structural support and then I'll really be in trouble. I know we talked about the underlayment when the guy was out hear doing the quote. He swears he has no recollection of it.
The phone line from the box into the house is in really bad shape, like missing pieces of the sheathing etc. Century Link won't come out and fix it unless I upgrade to the latest plan because the phone is working. The only way they will do the repair with out an upgrade is if the phone doesn't work.
They've tried to get the electrician to come out tomorrow to just do the phone line and then do the rest of his regularly scheduled work on Monday and Tuesday. They were supposed to call me but didn't.
Because the windows got moved up all window coverings and anything in front of a window had to be removed. Thank goodness for DD and DSIL. They came up after work and we got it all done. I fixed dinner but that was pretty cheap payment for the help.
I'm exhausted and my bed isn't made because we had to take the mattress off to move it from in front of the window. The only good thing today was 25 more items out the door.

This is going to be a very, very long day. I couldn't sleep because of stressing out over this project and I haven't heard back from the contractor who was going to do the front door. Finally at 3am I gave up and got up. I've showered, had breakfast, done the dishes, cleaned the litter box. Now a half hour from when I need to sign on for work I just want to go back to bed. Maybe I will do like DGD did last night, just pull the afghan off the couch, put a couch pillow on the floor, lay down, cover up and close my eyes.

Aw carp! Sorry Sharon. We had a number of "surprises" when we were getting Mom's house fixed up & ready to sell. Just curious: when was your house built? (Mom's was constructed in the 1950's...) Good Morning Kids! Got up extra early to try & buy things like TP. I kid you not, I went to 5 stores before I found any, and they were limiting customers to 1 package, so of course I bought the biggest one they had. What a complete waste of time, when I've got other things I need to get done. Oh well, it isn't just me going through all of this.

Hello peeps. Good to know you are all doing well so far. No TP or paper towels anywhere, but everything else seems to be around, even though in short supply at times. Everyone except me is working from home, which is fine. I like an empty office, frankly. It is so quiet.

Today should be quiet which is good. The amount of racket those guys made yesterday with the saws, nail guns, and crow bars was unreal. By the end of the day I had a massive headache and was exhausted. The house was also really cold since there was a period of time when I didn't have patio doors and windows. It wasn't the most pleasant work from home experience. ners hasn't checked in for a while. I hope all is well with her and her DF.

Good Morning Kids! I had to cancel my dentist appointment next week, because I have a cough (most likely it's allergies, and the oak is really bad right now), as the dentist's office isn't taking any chances right now. Which is fine, but it means I won't get any more dental work done until after the move.
Things are kinda busy here, as I have to go back & forth between making phone calls, packing a few boxes, and then taking DS out for some exercise so he doesn't get stir crazy (it's kind of the opposite of cabin fever). We'll get through it all, it'll just be hectic for awhile. At least I got some sleep last night.

Happy Friday Muffins!!!
I am working from home today because of the sNOwstorm we had yesterday.
I will probably start working from home 3 days a week starting next week. We are not on shelter in place or lock down orders here but our corporate is advising us to work from home as much as possible.
I hope you are all safe and have plenty of TP. LOL
Have A Wonderful Weekend!!!

ners best wishes for a good surgeon visit. Corporate leadership gave permission to allow us to use things like monitors, keyboard etc at home. We are allowed to check it out today between 8 to 5. I drove down today and picked up one of my monitors, my keyboard, and my docking station. Now just trying to get it hooked up and working correctly. They are saying that after today there will only be a skeleton crew in the building, mailroom and a couple IS people I think. They want all of us working at home and preferably sheltering at home. While I don't work directly for a hospital the umbrella organization over us has multiple hospitals and clinics.
ETA: busymom I hear you on the cough. Umm yeah people I'm coughing because my house is a construction zone with dust, sawdust and who knows what else flying. Plus to get ready for all this I have been in major decluttering mode. I have been going through boxes that have been sitting in the garage and attic for over 20 years, now talk about some dust.

Thanks Sharon! As I'm digging through boxes once again, and cleaning up dust, I'm sure that isn't doing me any good either. Plus, a few boxes here have gotten a "musty" smell to them. One of the many "joys" of living in the South. I mentioned earlier that my relative's nursing home isn't allowing any visitors at this time. The blessing is, in spite of the fact that it's a huge complex (nursing home, assisted-living, AND senior apartments), no one has gotten the virus. At least not yet. Their best guess right now is that visitors will be banned until at least the end of April, although famillies of the dying are allowed inside.

Good evening peeps; it has been a quiet week in the office. Frankly, I want nothing more than for everyone to stay home. I can work alone just fine. Doing laundry and swept floors tonight. My project this weekend is to get a grout cleaning kit and get to work on the front hallway tiles. I figure with no competitions, it will be a good workout for the arms.

I took Mom to the grocery store. It was against my better judgement but I knew she hadn't really done a stock up grocery run in some time and that she had a long list. She has maybe been to the store once since got out of the care center, but not sure about that. I knew it would be a tiring ordeal for both of us, so what is the first thing she does, stands there and picks out cards for 15-20 minutes. She was running low on birthday cards for people. I bet my brothers best friend from high school won't notice if you don't send him a birthday card this year. Also I guess my sister is sick. My Dad with dementia, who gets everything mixed up thought it was a stomach virus, but he also couldn't remember the words Kaiser Permanente or Corona Virus today. My sister was hell bent on having a birthday party for my niece last weekend. She is 36 she will survive without a party. Sis's hubs didn't feel good at the party, then why did you come. If I or Mom get sick from them I'm going to be really ticked, or if I have to do a 14 day quarantine because of them. My sister has always lived in an alternate reality and I could tell that she didn't think the Corona Virus is any big deal. Another little side note that is sad but I still had to laugh. Mom's neighbor lady was out spraying her driveway with bleach when we got home from the store. She is an older lady but no incapacitated in anyway. I actually don't know why she was doing that, but you could smell the bleach clear across the street.

Well Sis says she has the flu. She did an online survey thru Kaiser Permanente and a doctor supposedly reviewed it and they determined that she has the flu and prescribed her something, guessing it is Tamiflu. Knowing her she probably didn't get a flu shot, didn't ask. If she and her family makes it thru this without a serious hospital stay or death it will be amazing. Sis is a seriously out of control diabetic, her husband is a paraplegic, Niece has congestive heart failure, again poorly controlled diet etc. I believe she is also diabetic. Nieces husband has cerebral palsy. Sis is the only one in that group that drives. Not sure what I can do other than pray. Sis has always had a different take on things then everyone else. Today is do stuff around the house day. First up is to get my bedroom back in order. I'm tired of wiping out on the rocking chair in the middle of the night because I'm still half asleep and don't remember that the bed is pushed way forward and you have to walk around the head of the bed and not the foot of the bed to reach the bathroom. Once it warms up I want to head on outside and do some yardwork and enjoy the sunshine.

You Sis' family sounds like my brother and his brood. He and DW (Dumb Wife) were hellbent and determined to go on a cruise this week. Fortunately, they were all cancelled, saving his stupid ass from himself. He and the wife both diabetics and both smoke, neither under a doctor's care. Two of the three kids probably diabetic as well.
You cannot fix people, Sharon. Pray for them, yes. But there is no fix for people who won't do what's necessary.

Good Morning Kids! Well, it's been a week, that's for sure. Earlier in the week, one of my neighbors who has some serious health problems was taken to the hospital by ambulance, so of course the rumor in the neighborhood was she had "the" virus. She didn't have it, but as a precaution they wouldn't even let her husband into the hospital with her. (Poor thing! Having to be in the ER without any family.) At least she's doing better, and recovering at home.
Then, this morning there was a large spider, a variety I've never seen until now, in the middle of the bathroom floor. I "let" DH kill it, and he though it might have been a brown recluse, but I've seen pictures of them, and I don't think so. If it was a recluse, we've certainly been ducking problems lately.
Well, the sun is shining, and it's supposed to get hot. I need more tape to put moving boxes together, but I'm going to wait until there are fewer people at the stores.

And even without swimming it's been busy. I got a run in, then out the door to the grocery store and the hardware store. Got the ice cream DH likes (it's been out for ages) the mil brand I like (also missing for ages), bread and the grout cleaner. Also picked up my script.
I will start the grout project and do freelance today. Also work outside. Gotta get the fresh air.

Just put the meatloaf in the oven and the potatoes on the stove for dinner. A pretty classic comfort dinner with peas and gravy tonight. Also started cleaning the hall tile and grout. Lawd, much harder than I thought.

I got a very pleasant surprise today. The siding guys showed up today and wrapped the house. It is supposed to start raining on Monday. There is also a chance that the governor is going to shut everything down. Hopefully if restrictions do go into place that they will be considered an essential business and can finish up the house. DD works in pest control and she said they are considered essential and my neighbor who works at a plumbing company said they are essential.
We shall see it should be an interesting week. I worked so hard around the house today that I am sore and tired tonight.

Sharon, I feel your pain. The tile and grout work is still (literally) kicking my butt. But I plan to get on the bike and ride anyway shortly. But breakfast first, for all you DIY'ers out there getting it done around the house (because let's face it; we can't get it done too many other places at this point). Lots of grab and go, but the patio is open, the tables are up and I added umbrellas out there.

Good morning everyone. Just when I think we don't need to go grocery shopping for a few days my MIL gives us another list a day after shopping for her. She loves to bake and is baking alot. Well 97 yo and able to bake all day is a blessing. Not going to stop her. But her freezer is full and so is ours. I know NancysSummerSip will tell me to post the bake goods here but a virtual display won't reduce the inventory.

Good Morning Kids! We've been watching church online, so I've already baked a batch of cinnamon rolls. They've already disappeared... It's sunny out, but the beaches here are now closed by the authorities, so I plan to spend the day organizing & packing boxes.

The garage is almost cleaned out for the electrician. When he was here going over the project he showed me the areas that he needed cleaned out for access. He was also very tactful but it basically came down to if I have to move all this crap it will be at the rate $110 hour. I have gone above and beyond what he asked to have done so he will have plenty of room. It is funny how you can become so focused on something that your thinking becomes skewed, at least for me anyway. My hoses were hung up in the garage for the winter, they needed to be moved. My first thought was were could I put them so they wouldn't get wet when it rains next week. Duh, they're hoses they get wet all summer. The hoses and tomato cages are now all dumped in the garden.

I can't believe your bookstores are still open. It's mostly because they supply educational materials. But we have no independent bookstores here anymore. So the stand-alone Barnes and Noble stores can stay open. Those located in malls cannot.

I went down and babysat the Grands for a few hours. It was pretty tough duty. I saw DGS for about 15 minutes, then Mommy put him down for nap. That was the end of that, didn't see him again. DGD was fighting the nap she cried for a little bit then I could hear her just talking to herself and her stuffed sheep. She talked quietly for over an hour then it was quiet. About an hour later all off a sudden she started crying, want down, get down, ucks coming. She is daytime, awake, potty trained. I got her out of the crib and she hustled off to the potty and went uck. She came up with the word uck all on her own, whatever. We each had a granola bar as a snack, read a couple of stories, and played with EIEIO (the farm set).
