Tomorrow I will go and sign papers and pay a down payment on a major home renovation. I am going to get new siding and new windows. My house was built in 1974 during the era of the bad fiberboard siding that was recalled. Whomever owned the house at that time took the settlement money, left the siding on the house and sided over the top with T1-11. I have been kicking this can down the road for years but with my age and all the pest issues I have had lately it is time to get rid of the rotten siding. It will be cheaper (labor wise) to replace the windows while they are already out here for the siding. My current windows are the old mid-70's aluminum sliders. In order for them to rip off the siding etc I need to have the outdoor lights disconnected. I have also decided since I am spending so much money I'm getting some things I want. The outdoor light for the driveway that is currently mounted on the peak of the garage roof, where it can only be accessed by an extension ladder, will become two lights on either side of the garage door. There will also be an outdoor light added near each patio door and a couple of outdoor plugs. Currently if I want power outside I have to plug an extension cord in the garage or in the living room. I also have a window AC unit that is stuck in the wall. That will be removed and sided over. That will also require a drywall person to come and patch the drywall in the dining room. The AC works good and does a pretty good job of cooling the house but the last time it went out it was hard to find a replacement to fit the size of the hole. Since they will be out siding this seems like a good time to change tactics as far as cooling goes.

Good morning everyone. Sharon sounds like a good project, getting it all done at once. I'm sure you will enjoy it. Cold spell is here. 21* this morning. Daffodils have started blooming, but it's too soon.

Good Morning Kids! It's going to be cloudy & cool today. I always have to smile when they talk about "wind chill" here. Sharon, that sounds like a huge project, but it'll look great when they're done. I assume you've decided to keep this house for awhile. We want pictures when the work is completed!

Happy Friday Muffins!!!
So smileys aren't working here either.
I am so ready for Spring. After what I believe was the driest, mildest January on record here we have been getting sNOw every other or 3rd day here all this month and I am sick of it!
Have a Fabulous Weekend!!!

Greetings my good peeps! A busy weekend ahead as it is a non-compete weekend. The next two after this have races. I have to upload my state retirement docs, pay some bills, do some freelance, clean the master shower stall, wash my car and mow the lawn. DH will be out of the house a lot of tomorrow, so that will help. I am making stuffed shells for dinner tomorrow, with roasted Brussels sprouts. Have not had either one in ages.

Good Morning Kids! I got to bed around 1 am, but it's so cool here (it got close to freezing overnight), that I slept very well, for 8 hours.
I had a pie crust left in the freezer, so I made a pumpkin pie last night to use it.

Mom and Dad's health isn't really going to get better over the long haul and the house is about 6 years from being paid off, it makes financial sense to stay put. Do I want to, no, but it is the responsible adult thing to do. Right now it is sunny and cold outside. The sunshine is nice and gives me hope that Spring may actually arrive. Tomorrow is supposed to be rainy and breezy again. Time to make hay while the sun shines. There is lots on my to-do list today.

G'day my peeps. Nice day out there after a cold, rainy start. I really got the master shower all tidy and clean, and laundry done. Rugs vacuumed, too. Also weeded all of the front yard. I will fix dinner and put it in the fridge, then go wash the car shortly.

Went out to Home Depot to find some hardware to hang my medals (I ran out of space everywhere else...OK, I am bragging a bit ). Doing laundry and will mow the lawn later, after it has time to dry out a bit more. Did take a turn around the garden center. I will need dirt and raised edging for my slightly expanded garden this year. Not fully sure of what I am planting aside from tomatoes yet.

Good Afternoon Kids! Thanks for serving up brunch, NancysSummerSip ! I'm going to raid both the fruit and vegetable platters, and of course have a bit of bacon. It's sunny & cool again today, but the thermometer is moving upward. I got a kick out of Pastor at church this morning. He is honest, sometimes to a fault, but I like people who speak the truth, and don't sugarcoat everything.

The problem is, when you get close to retirement, you don't have "time" if you lose your butt in the market. DH & I have weathered 2 big drops in the market, but it takes years for your investments to regain value. (Fortunately, only DH is in the market right now...)

Good Morning Kids! It's raining, humid, and in the mid-60's here.
I had to make a trip to the post office this morning to mail off another batch of paperwork. At least the line wasn't long.

Hey, good news! I FINALLY got back my refund on a surgery I had last Summer. (Down here, you have to pay ahead on EVERYTHING, the dentist, and even my surgeon.) It ONLY took 7 months to get my overpayment back... It's not that the surgeon didn't do a good job, he did. It's just that, I hope he enjoyed the interest he was earning on MY money.

Getting ready to head out, everyone have a good day. I'm hoping today is better than yesterday. I left my laptop at home yesterday and had to use a loaner, which of course didn't have anything I really needed.
