Good Afternoon Kids! It's been such a busy day, that I forgot to check in this morning. I FINALLY got a roof rack installed on my SUV. I've also been talking with a guy about cutting some plywood to fit on my house. It's hot & sunny right now. Keeping an eye on the forecast, but taking it day by day.

Thanks for checking in NancysSummerSip ! I was a bit surprised to see the water section at Target completely sold out tonight. I've been checking with my neighbors who have hurricane experience, and they're really not worried, at least not yet. They seem to believe that some are a bit skittish after Hurricane Michael last year, but I've been putting food in our pantry that we wouldn't need to cook if we lost power. Might not be the most nutritious, but we'd get by. We're still keeping an eye on things here, & still plan to leave if we must. We have a built in generator (which is in the off position during the storm), plenty to eat and drink for us and the cats and I bagged ice and froze large bottles of water. I will do the buckets in the bathtub thing Saturday. We went to Publix tonight and it was still quite civilized. They just put out fresh bread when we got there; a blessing because the shelves in the bread aisle were so empty they echoed. I got a loaf for sandwiches, plus some pita. Water was gone, but I had a case from a sale a few weeks back. I am leaving the office tomorrow at 1 p.m. I plan to come home for an afternoon run, start laundry, then finish mowing the back lawn, powering up all the batteries for tools we will need post-storm and checking the yard for anything else to remove. DH put down the smaller shutters already. I've notified family as to our whereabouts. Most of my immediates are in the path of this storm, so we are all in for a ride together.

Good Morning Kids! I'm still busy with prep here. And, I'm baking a lot of cookies today, because they should last if we lose power, AND I have a lot of eggs in the fridge that I want to use up. We added ourselves to the county emergency notification list, so hopefully we'll be the first to know if they do order an evacuation.

Hiya my peeps! Left work early and came home to mow the lawn and finish the yard. Started the patio and will spend the weekend making sandwiches, hard-cooking eggs, frying bacon (not the best thing reheated, but when you really want some for a sandwich, it works), and brownies. I have some white and sweet potatoes, which we will eat with fish and chicken over the next two nights.
I plan to head out for a run in about an hour or so. We are swimming tomorrow. Planning to run or ride Sunday, weather depending. Monday is a total unknown at this point, as is Tuesday.

Good Morning Kids! We have most of what we'd need now, (except a generator) if things would get ugly. Unfortunately, the guy that was going to cut some plywood for me won't have time to do it before this hurricane, as he's packing up & leaving, but promised he'd do it before the next hurricane. (He lives on an island, so it makes sense for him to leave, even though no evacuation orders have gone out here yet.) Forecast is looking better, except for possible flooding, so we're cautiously optimistic today.

Hiya peeps! Last swim practice, and the pool sure looked bare, with all the fencing and chairs moved indoors.
Oh, and we could still be in trouble, because -- Yeah, he's in town. We are soooooooooo doomed. We finished the yard, and we have just the patio furniture to lay down (it's all heavy and won't go anywhere in the wind) and the plants to stash in the bathtub next to the water buckets. We will put down the last shutters tomorrow.

Also, Total Wines sent a flyer with a 15% coupon off wine....totally tempted, but don't want to waste the gas.

I guess I'm lucky, since I've got a liquor store a mile from my house. But, I didn't get any. I only bought water. Jim is in town, NancysSummerSip? I don't know whether to laugh or cry for you. (At least you'll have some entertainment...)

Morning, peeps! The rain bands are moving in, but very few at this point. Mostly sunshowers. I ran early, then got the patio furniture done. Fixed breakfast. I still plan to run one more load of laundry later and run the dishwasher on a short wash later, after dinner.

Good Morning Kids! Thanks for brunch NancysSummerSip! DS & I took a drive to look at the ocean this morning (probably won't do that again until after the storm passes). Waves are definitely up, a lot of idiot surfers were out, in spite of warnings that there's no one available to rescue you, if you get into trouble, and I was VERY annoyed with a mom who was allowing her young daughters to play in the high waves. I don't wanna see on the news someone crying because the waves swept off with one of their kids. ">

The county just issued evacuation orders for all of Zone A --that is barrier islands and everything east of US 1, and Zone B along the inlet. I am a zone B, but close to the inlet. Not prone to flooding, though. Our house is on built up land. Nowhere to go, anyway, that does not involve hundreds of miles of driving. Only one pet-friendly shelter in the county. We're staying.

Well, we're done. Shutters up, last batch of dishes and laundry done. We may eat hot food for tomorrow -- or not, but we are ready for anything now.

Holy green beans batman. I am supposed to go down and help DD can green beans tomorrow. She just called asking if I wanted some beans, they had 50lbs but if I wanted some they would get another small box. DGD thinks green beans are the best things ever and I know they eat them frequently, but 50+ lbs to snap and process.

Took a walk this morning -- lots of unprepared folks out there, with no shutters up! Our neighbors (with the four boys) went to grandma's house AND LEFT THEIR BLOW UP POOL AND ALL THEIR PLAYGROUND TOYS IN THE YARD!!!!!!! Well, gee thanks. I know the property is fenced, but seriously? That stuff can still fly in hurricane-force winds. I know you think God is going to protect you, but how about the rest of us?

We just had a small rain squall come through. It's breezy out, but not what I would call windy at this point. Most of the rain is west of us and much heavier, in areas not supposed to flood at all. Go figure.
We had a light lunch, and likely an early dinner. We're doing the hot dogs and beans thing, but cooking indoors. County pools are now closed tomorrow and Wednesday, per announcement I just got via text. No word on work yet.

Sheesh NancysSummerSip, another family who thinks the hurricane rules apply to everyone but them? (Maybe you should go hide all of that stuff, & tell them the storm took it...) We've stopped in Tennessee for the night. What a difference in the weather!

I am officially stir crazy at this point. Actually went outside and did yard work between the rain bands. And I am off tomorrow. Nice to be able to spend time with my peeps, at least. I will try to get a run in, weather permitting. I have a 5K next Sunday, so a little more practice would be a good thing. I will wait for daylight, to avoid falling debris, however. I do have more freelance I can do (I did six articles today) and some housework I can do ahead.
