This is kind of a spin off from my previous thread; Debt. I wanted to lighten the mood so I decided to start a post about what everybody's thing is? Something that you adore so much, you will buy it again once you are debt free, always maintain it, and continue loving? (kids and pets dont count ) My thing is designer handbag, glasses, and shoes (I dont have any shoes) my Dh thing is anything golf or Raider related. What's yours? PS -- that picture is my purse ;D

Michael Kors - Just about anything, but two of my favorites are the Brookville Bag & a cute Pea Coat But what I will actually buy will be a new fridge for my DD, some carpet for my house & more practical stuff :-)

My next "thing" will be a new to me . Mine died a few months ago and I've been driving a very "special" auto to make due until I have $$ to buy something else. It won't be brand new so we will see what I find when the time is right. I'm hoping the special makes it at least another year. I splurged on a purse for my birthday so other than that there is very little I need and my wants are limited. Good thread though!

Looked around the house last night for "my thing", and apparently it is crockpots. I have a total of 8. And I have used each of them at least 6 times each this year. ;D

I must admit - it seems I have a "thing" for shoes and boots. I didn't even realize just how much so until my daughters last year pulled them all out of my closets and counted them. I almost passed out. Once I am employed in a new job and feel settled in there I am thinking of splurging on a new pair. These are great .....Or these ..................Or maybe something in red ...........

i like bags and shoes and clothes and accessories like any other lady. but i'm not obsessed with any brand nor label. in fact the items i've had people go out of their way in order to provide a compliment weren't designer at all... they were completely cheap and no name. (i just pick awesome stuff! lol)
my "thing" is travel. i spent my 20s skipping around the globe. i hate doing the "tourist" thing and have made a point to get right into the culture, go to the "hole in the wall" places with the locals. i have had amazing life changing experiences and have made life long friends in doing so. I haven't traveled abroad in about 5 years (unless you count a cruise, which i most certainly don't) and i can't wait to get back to it... and bring my new hubby along!

I wish I could have dozens of shoes and boots. I walk by shoe stores and drool hopelessly. One might say I have extreme shoe envy. But my size in any cute shoe is impossible to find even at Zappo's. I've tried. I have three pairs of shoes I can actually wear and they all come from SAS. I hate putting a nice outfit together with everything looking good then my feet show up. . .orthopedic clodhoppers again. Kind of ruins it for me. The "thing" I can and do indulge in is books. Fiction, non-fiction, poetry, et. al. I'm looking at five six-foot bookshelves full from where I sit and there are four more (slightly smaller) in the house. "Good morning, my name is Agatha and I am a book addict." I'd save more money if I would just go to the library but look closely at my collection. 95% are bedraggled. There isn't a book here I haven't read at least three times; others have been read more. Yeah, I'm one of those.

Ummmm..... I don't have a thing anymore. So sad. I had a life changing moment a little more than a year ago. After the divorce, and foreclosing on my house things really changed for me. I had to get rid of so many things when I downsized to a smaller apartment and then I realized that material things don't matter.
So now I don't have a thing. I have always loved notebooks and pens. But I only love them when they are new, so I buy them and then don't want to use them. lol.

I used to collect firemen- but they all ran off and got married....
Bears, firefighting collectibles, cooking stuff, shoes and accessories (particularly scarves, strappy heels and tall boots), books, music everything, sports of many types- dance to hunting to softball to hockey...
There's probably more stuff

I don't have a "thing". I just really don't like to shop. DH likes his guitars (an Ovation acoustic, a Fender strat electric, and a Gibson Les Paul blond beauty electric), but I don't know if you'd call it "a thing" since he's purchased only those three in over 30 years. We enjoy our home and we like to get together with friends and have a few drinks and a good meal. We like to take in a concert or a sporting event every now and then; but other than that..... Nope, I guess we really don't have "a thing". ETA: I like those purple boots, but I don't think they'd be very comfortable. I might be able to pull them off even at my age, but I'm sure I'd want to rip them off my feet after about a half an hour.

dancinmummy -- no computers, electronincs, camera, cell phone, ipad...etc?? twinmama: I have a laptop, but it's not "my thing". I don't care about having the latest and greatest or anything fancy. I just want one that works, so that I can access the internet. I have a plain-Jane Nokia cell phone - no text, no data. I don't have anything that starts with an "i" - no ipods, ipads, iphones, or anything else that's an "i". Truly, I can't think of anything that's "my thing". I like to have nice things for our home: stoneware, decor, furniture; but when I need to buy, I search for items that I REALLY, REALLY like, that are HIGHER THAN AVERAGE quality, at a REALLY GOOD price. I buy and hope that I won't have to buy again/replace for a REALLY LONG time. I think it stems from living in a po-dunk town with no shopping to speak of for several years. We had to drive 40-50 miles to shop, so shopping became an excursion and a chore. Now, we've moved and I have an abundance of shopping options available to me, but I think my previous years of shopping frustration resulted in shopper's burnout. I just don't like it.

I don't think I have anything either. I don't even buy any books nowadays other than a few that I get from the Friends of the Library store for a quarter each when I go on vacation.
I like to shop for others, but not for myself - I buy small things for my nieces and nephews and my son. I bought a Nine West wallet 11 years ago and it still looks like new. Once a year or once in 2 years I buy a bag, but nothing really special. I don't like too many electronics either and I am happy with my work issued laptop and blackberry.

I must not have a 'thing' either, because even after I got debt-free, I haven't gone out and bought stuff. I'm still too far behind on saving for an EF, retirement, and a replacement car. But I would like to eventually upgrade my home entertainment system to something less antique -- I'm a movie and DVD geek! Oh, and travel, I suppose. I love to travel, but I'm realizing the need to curtail it for the foreseeable future. I'd go back to that in a heartbeat if I could!

Honeylioness: LOVE the purple boots!! ;D
I can control my spending, but in the winter I love having one good pair of fashionable boots. Then in the summer, one great pair of sandals!

Oh my I love those purple boots. I actually have a similar pair, but I think the heels on mine are a bit higher and mine don't have the zipper. I will admit a shoe addiction, although I actually only have a few pairs. Once I have a real job and pay off my student loans....the closet wil be mine. ;D

RELATED: Do you ever find it difficult to spend on something that is needed (replacing worn out clothing for instance)- particularly if yo uare the main party who will benefit?
I need to put out money for new clothes because they have fallen apart, I am losing inches, starting my business- but I feel odd doing it. I know part of it is an old habit from growing up with my father- my grandparents and aunt (along with handme downs I got from various sources) provided all of my church and "girly" clothes. My "uniform" was jeans, t-shirts, and sneakers.

I don't have a thing myself. My family and I really like to watch movies and our tv shows. So we do pay for our DirectTV and go to probably 3 or more movies a month at the theater. But that's really our only vice or area we splurge. We go out to eat from time to time but never anywhere fancier than like Perkins. We lead pretty boring lives.
I HATE shopping. I don't like to be in places where I can't see the exit so I don't go shopping in malls ever. We go clothes shopping twice a year. I buy one pair of shoes a year and wear that pair until it falls apart. I buy a purse on clearance if I need one and use it until it falls apart and then buy another one. I lead a pretty boring life.

Fear is part of the shopping problem- with my illnesses- I can't stand being at the mall when it is crowded, nor do I particularly care for the place in general to begin with. Too expansive. Right after one of the malls opened when I was 18, there was a shooting and then a few weeks later a part of the ceiling collapsed due to a leak in the brand new roof. I told my at the time fiance that I was getting a divorce (we weren't even married yet) if he made me go back in there. OH hindsight.... And then there is the issue of the dressing rooms- which I don't trust that the cameras can't see in- but if I bring home something and I havne't tried it on I have to hear about it because it is an hour drive back to the mall. The stores here in town don't carry much if any when they do in plus size tops.

I'm boring, I guess. Shoes and shopping and clothes aren't my thing (in fact, I hate clothes. I only wear them because I'm COLD). I spend my money on my friends.

Hi, I'm new here. I've lurked for a long time and really do enjoy reading everyone's posts. This is a fun one. I guess my thing would be clothing/accessories/shoes. With over a hundred pairs, I guess it's more of a problem than a thing.

I seriously considered moving to a nudist colony when I had to shop for new pants. That's the worst shopping experience in the history of shopping.
