For the electric, lie on your back with the guitar raised about your head. Scoot yourself along the floor on your back while playing wildly. Extra credit for lighting the guitar on fire while you do it.

I used to play a little, but haven't in a long time. Have a little arthritis in my left hand (particularly) and that makes it difficult. I still love guitar music, though. I've got an old Martin parlor guitar from the 1800s, still in its "coffin case". I take it out every now and then just to strum it and listen to that beautiful tone.

Yes, I thought it could do with the kiss of life
A Black Beauty, a Strat and a Marshall 800 and I'm happy.

I really am a much better player in theory. I understand how to play, what strings to play, how to do bar chords, change keys and all of that but i just can't get my fingers to do what my brain is telling them too!

Where did the original poster and thread go? I didn't start this thread. As has happened before, the OP probably left the boards and asked that their posts be deleted.

That is a good tech vid Fret.. As far as your stuff, sounds great. What are you recording with? Ugh. Lets start with the basics. E-A-D-G-B-E The biggest thing, JMO, is to get your rhythm down. I find a good way to work on this is strumming along with your favorite tunes.

I find a good way to work on this is strumming along with your favorite tunes. Music in the western (and most sophisticated) tradition rests on three pillars. Melody, Harmony and Rythmn. I found this languishing on an old tape in a box long unopened. Unfortunately, I haven't yet been able to lay my hands on a copy with the vocal track, so it's backing tracks only. I wrote this when I was 17 or 18. The video reflects the anti-war sentiment of the piece. Thanks ahamburger What are you recording with?I have a '74 Strat - with a '72 neck. When I bought it... in 1974... the first thing I did was to put a Di Marzio fat strat on it; in the treble position, of course! I also have a Les Paul Black Beauty, which is what you have heard thus far on the recordings I acquired that in 1980. It does weigh a ton though! I have always used Marshall amplification. Currently I have a JCM 800 - it's a great head, for some reason Marshall went a bit funny, the 900 and 1000 were absolutely awful. You can't beat a purely valve amp.

I know i am supposed to keep time basically with the strum hand and that can be difficult. And, i would like some interesing variations of the down, down up, down, down up, etc. I have some books but i would really just like to nail the strumming so it sounds good.

Nice Fret, the Jimmy Page... ;D Both of the heavier ones sound good.. You're singing as well? So what are you recording on then? Or are you in a good studio?

It's the hardest thing to learn as a beginner for sure shooby. Down, up, or up down over and over until you can pick along with the rhythm guitar something like this...

No worries Mr. Fret.. It's easy to sound good in the shower eh? ;D It's crazy how good the results from protools, a good engineer, and a small space are. My buddy here... www.reverbnation.com/play_now/song_12245711 records with a guy that did some work on the new Rush album.
