The great cooks can make something delicious with "those parts that should be thrown away." Maybe, but just think about what they could make with the parts that are actually good. Instead they waste their time trying to make beef cheek taste non revolting... go figure.

Those dried Kidney beans are more than "crunchy". They contain a chemical that can destroy blood cells and actually kill. Never eat undercooked Kidney beans. That is like feeding your dog a blowfish, not something to do. Oh Jesus Christ, where is my slapping forehead emoticon? If you read your link, all it describes is food poisoning and states that symptoms subside within a few hours. Whoop-de-do. Most people know to soak their dried beans or quick boil them anyway. No matter how many times you say it, the sky is still not falling!

there is a site called 365 days of crockpotting...there is the absolutely best (better than store bought) rotissierre (sp?) recipe. i have made many many times and altered it...soooo goooddddd.....
greek shredded beef - roast of your choice and one jar of pepperocini along w/ the juice, some sliced onion and garlic cloves. cook on low all day. shred and serve on hoagie rolls..very good.
i do use my small CP for dried white or black beans...gasp....i soak them overnight. drain. add to CP w/ wtaer to cover. add 2 bay leaves and some pepper and some garlic cloves. and cook for a few hrs. for the white beans, i sautee up a red onion and some garlic. add beans to warm and some spinach. very good side dish. for the black beans...sautee red onion and garlic. add beans to warm. sprinkle w/ fresh lime juice. great side for grilled chix.
crockpots are fabulous for cheaper cuts of beef!
