Well at least Hank Williams Jr did NOT compare Obama to Ahmadinejad which would have been a real cheap shot.. Are you still boo hooing over this? Pull up your big boy pants for goodness sake.

You really think she enjoys football? Which of her songs do you think would replace all my rowdy friends?

I don't think he should have been let go, I think it he just made a very bad example of opposites.
This is why entertainers shouldn't answer any political questions, no matter how benign the question may appear.

Well when I ask a question and I get a response I reply to it, I thought that was how conversation goes, exactly what in your post indicates that you are making a "joke"?

Maybe Bluerobin will be willing to now come back and show how what ESPN did was unconstitutional.

Ahh so I am to infer from your post that you are joshing because of another thread, I am sorry that I can't do that, logic dictates that if one is is using something to make a joke then one needs to clarify that a joke is being made. I honestly thought you were being serious.

The First Amendment (Amendment I) to the United States Constitution is part of the Bill of Rights. The amendment prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion, impeding the free exercise of religion, abridging the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press, interfering with the right to peaceably assemble or prohibiting the petitioning for a governmental redress of grievances. Originally, the First Amendment applied only to laws enacted by the Congress. However, starting with Gitlow v. New York, 268 U.S. 652 (1925), the Supreme Court has held that the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment applies the First Amendment to each state, including any local government.

But Hank made those comments about Obama and Boehner while he was a guest on Fox News and not while working or appearing on ESPN... It appears that Hank Williams Jr feels he has a constitutional right to say whatever he wants about the President according to the first amendment ..freedom of speech..

I can't seem to find any story stating that he is considering sueing ESPN. As to your question No he doesn't have a right to sue for a violation of the first admendment, though he could have a case (if he has a contract) for breach of contract.

And he does have that right just as ESPN has the right to fire people with or without cause. The only possible suit would be breach of contract "if" he has a contract.

Politics Williams has been politically involved with the Republican Party. For the 2000 election, he redid his song “We Are Young Country” to “This is Bush–Cheney Country.” On October 15, 2008, at a rally in Virginia Beach for Republican presidential nominee John McCain, he performed “McCain–Palin Tradition,” a song in support of McCain and his vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin.[9] He has made many contributions to federal election campaigns, mostly to Republicans, including Michele Bachmann's 2012 presidential campaign.[10] Several news outlets reported in November 2008 that Williams was exploring a run for the 2012 Republican nomination as a Senator from Tennessee. [11] [12] [13] [14] On Monday, October 3, 2011, in a morning interview with Fox News Channel's Fox and Friends, Williams in reference to a June golf game where President Obama and House Speaker John Boehner had teamed against Vice President Joe Biden and Ohio Gov. John Kasich, offered the opinion that match was "one of the biggest political mistakes ever." Asked about why that golf game disturbed him, Williams said, "Come on. That'd be like Hitler playing golf with Netanyahu. " ... In the country this shape is in... I mean, in the shape this country is in?" He also stated that the President and Vice President are "the enemy" and compared them to "the Three Stooges". When anchor Gretchen Carlson later said to him, "You used the name of one of the most hated people in all of the world to describe, I think, the president." Williams replied, "Well, that is true. But I'm telling you like it is." As a result of his statements ESPN dropped Williams' opening musical number from its Monday Night Football broadcast of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers versus the Indianapolis Colts and replaced with the national anthem. Later Williams, stated his analogy was "extreme – but it was to make a point." "Some of us have strong opinions and are often misunderstood," the country singer said. "... I was simply trying to explain how stupid it seemed to me – how ludicrous that pairing was. They're polar opposites, and it made no sense. They don't see eye-to-eye and never will." Williams went on to say he has "always respected the office of the president." and in context continued with, "Every time the media brings up the tea party, it's painted as racist and extremists – but there's never a backlash, no outrage to those comparisons ... Working-class people are hurting – and it doesn't seem like anybody cares. When both sides are high-fiving it on the ninth hole when everybody else is without a job – it makes a whole lot of us angry. Something has to change. The policies have to change." ESPN response The day Williams made his comments, ESPN announced that they were "extremely disappointed" in Williams' comments, and pulled his opening from that night's broadcast.[15] Three days later, ESPN released a statement announcing Williams and his song would not return to Monday Night Football, ending the use of the song that had been part of the broadcast since 1991.[16] Williams has further expressed defiance and indifference on his website, and said he was the one who made the decision. "After reading hundreds of e-mails, I have made MY decision," he wrote. "By pulling my opening Oct 3rd, You (ESPN) stepped on the Toes of The First Amendment Freedom of Speech, so therefore Me, My Song, and All My Rowdy Friends are OUT OF HERE. It's been a great run." I think a good strong conservative like Hank should go to the government (in the case a court) and get them to use their power to force a corporation to give him money.
