hugs for you too, WW RIP, Ann. She died yesterday. No more pain, except for those she leaves behind her DH called to make sure we knew today (it's a small town, word gets around pretty fast). He couldn't say more than a few words without crying. He's been so stoic thru everything. I cannot imagine what he's going thru. Their son is out of state, in his sophomore year in college. He was home to see his mom this past weekend for what everybody felt would be the last time. That may have been what she was waiting on...one more visit with her son.

I am so sorry for what everyone and their family members are going through. My mom's parents both died of cancer. My mom's mom of melanoma (when my mom was only 3) and her dad of brain cancer - well they said it was a weak heart but he had cancer (when my mom was 17). My dad's dad died of bladder cancer in his 70s and my dad's mom had breast cancer, though she survived and died decades later of Alzheimer's.
I myself had a skin cancer scare earlier this year. Large, flat, dark mole that just appeared out of nowhere on my butt. It is funny that I even noticed it because I noticed it when I was applying sunless tanner, which I had never done before. It was my lucky day. The dermatologist punched it out, called and said the results were severely abnormal (right before turning to melanoma). I had to have larger margins taken by a general surgeon under anesthesia. I had internal stitches and external glue. Now I have a nice scar, but noone but DH sees my butt anyway, and I kind of like the scar (I am weird like that). With my bad family history, they didn't want to take any chances of bad cells being left behind.

hang in there Iggy. That's all you can do. Steph - glad you caught that early. I have a friend who is dealing with stage 3 melanoma. Makes me even more greatful that mine was taken care of and nothing was found in the lymph nodes.

went to the visitation tonight for Ann. Her DH looks worn out; her son looked like he's still in shock.

FIL passed away @ 5:30AM central time today. Iggy From our house to yours our deepest sympathy. When I am gone release me and let me go. I have many things to see and do. You must not tie yourself to me with tears. Be happy we had some time together. I gave to you my love. You can only guess how much you gave to me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown. But now it's time I traveled on alone. So grieve awhile for me - if grieve you must. Then let your grief be comforted by trust. It's only for a while that we must part so bless the memories within your heart. I won't be far away, for life goes on. So if you need me, call and I will come. Though you can't see or touch me. I'll be near and if you listen with your heart, you'll hear my love around you soft and clear and then when you must come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile and "Welcome Home."

FIL stopped eating again.
Iggy....I'm sorry to hear that your FIL passed away. I had a rough time dealing with this thread, since my mom died of lung cancer. Prognosis at her diagnosis was that she'd last 1-3 months, since the cancer had metastized to her brain. She lasted 8 weeks.
However, I wanted to comment upon this statement. When I was in the hospital with my mom, I commented to one of the nurses that I could not get my mom to eat. She told me that many times, terminal patients will not eat and it has more to do with the way that their body's 'shutting down' in preparation of death. Not an easy comment to hear at the time, but looking back on it, it makes sense and it was relief that my mom's spirit wasn't giving up, her body was.

appt #7 at the derm yesterday (since March). First appt was the biggie that led to the day surgery & nuclear med stuff. 2nd appt, 2 spots removed for biopsy; follow up to remove larger margins & get a few stitches in each one. Next appt - 2 more spots; follow up for skin punch on each. Next appt - 2 more spots; no follow up required because the spots were clear. yesterday - no cutting! I'm off the hook until Jan
