Honey- More HUGS. Please take care of yourself. We need our Honey o make life sweeter. Waiting for an appt with the neurologist. I have had these weird headaches and the doc seems to think it could be an infection- but she wants my neuro man to look into it just to be sure.

I haven't had a chance to catch up, but wanted to put my goals up here
10 NS days 11 NEO days
I will be on a cruise for a week of this so that week doesn't count.
I've also decided to essentially stop savings and throw as much as possible at my darned credit cards. I want those gone once and for all. I think I can do it by June, for sure. We have a decent savings right now so we can afford to stop, and then afterwards all that money can go into savings, or move to the car loan, etc. Enough half-a$$ing it. I want it done. I'm also looking for 0% BT offers cause I'm sick of the rate my card is at. So hopefully along with all this will come new resolve to not spend needlessly. I say as we head into the holidays...

Update: 1 NS + 3 CS = 4 of 26 Today should be an NS, but tomorrow is going to be a spend. It will be a "justified" spend, but not really a planned one, so there we go. MIL goes in for surgery tomorrow which is a "thank the heavens, finally" kind of thing, but getting from now to the time we drop her off tomorrow is going to be a trial. She has to shower tonight and in the morning, per the pre-surgery instructions. They are very specific, and I know for a fact that she can't follow them without help. That means we go over tonight to help her bathe and then have to go over again in the morning to repeat the process. Mind you, she has to be at the hospital by 6:15 am, and I am guessing it should take us 30-45 minutes to get there (traffic shouldn't be bad, at least), but that means we need to leave her house by 5:30am, after getting her showered and dressed- not a quick prcoess. This means I think we need to be at her house by 5am at the latest (this is with her already up and sitting in the shower waiting for us). To be at her house by 5am, we need to leave our house around 4:40am. And since after dropping her off at the hospital, I will essentially have just enough time to get to work, I need to get ready before we leave. That has me up at 4:00 am at the latest (so that the dogs can still get a walk) and I can be work ready. DH, at least, will be able to come home and go back to bed for a couple of hours before he has to go to school. Anyway, all this means that tomorrow will require caffination. I will get myself a large chai latte from the cafeteria, and possibly a danish or a bagel to go with it. And it will be justified, just not planned.
MK: I don't think I've said lately how thrilled I am for you that things seem to be working out with Thor. I am glad you enjoyed your time at the dog park with your sister and the puppies. Also happy that transportation has been worked out.
Honey: Good for you on having a plan (not that any of us are surprised), and offering to stay a little longer not only gets you that one extra paycheck but also adds to the glowing references you'll get when new jobs call to check. As for your thought of paying everything off right away, do the math of what bills you can pay with just UE. If you can use severance to get yourself down to that right away, then I'd say go for it. Yes, that means you could lose out on some savings, but it also means that if you don't get another job right away (and remember, 2+ years before DH gave up and went back to school), you know you can live on what's coming in, and trust me, that's a big deal.

mk - Our house is in the middle of a hay field, so we sort of invaded on their home when we built ours. They get in through the crawl space and then when we are gone they make their way into the house via the vents. When Ben was a newborn, I was pumping in the bed and there was a damn mouse peeking out of the vent at me!! ICK!! The mice were not bad at all when we had a cat, but being that I am allergic, that isn't an option any more. DH tries to keep poison set out in the crawl space and that helps. mk - Sorry about your Grandma. That is so tough. Honey - Yes Ben was a little prince sitting in the back. I'll have pics up on my facebook page from the wedding hopefully tonight. I think I have one tagged of him and his cousin and he is this little prince and the girls were just all about him (they are 19 and 14). And if you want a good laugh on my facebook page there is a picture of DH and DS cuddled up on the floor sucking their thumbs. they were cuddled on the floor and DS was sucking his thumb and I grabbed the camera and DH decided it would be funny if he sucked his thumb too. You are absolutely amazing in your attitude about this layoff and moving forward. You have been truly inspirational. Glad to hear the molar is not broken and the dentist is just a dumb ass.

2NS, 3NEO
Yesterday was a spend. I got mini-D snow pants and snow boots at a consignment sale. Every year I've managed to find brand new snow boots in his size at the sale. I think he is set for winter, with the exception of a outfit for Christmas eve and a spare pair of mittens. Now I just have to keep reminding myself of that, plus I know my mom & MIL both will give him clothes for Christmas.
Muttley- Ewww on the mouse. I would have woken DH up for that. Of course our dogs would have watched and barked at it at best.
Honey- Hugs on the job and the illness. In reading your post at least you will have a quiet house soon. You are a strong woman and have a great plan going forward. I hope something comes up quickly for you. I agree with Shan if you can payoff something completely to make the UE last a little longer I'd say go for it.
Shan- I'll say a prayer for you MIL tomorrow.
I'm in the middle of transitioning to a new CC system at work and am crazy busy trying to get all the data transferred over. Sorry if I missed anyone.

UPDATE: 5NS; 5NEO; 5MOANI am exhausted. I still have a couple more days to go before I can do strictly desk work. I see the neurologist in a couple weeks. I am praying for everyone who is in need. I am feeling a bit overwhelmed right now with my family's demands so I am not up to talking. Chat later.

Update: 5/20 $0 Days Honey: Big hugs to you. I am so sorry you are dealing with all of this crap on top of being sick. MK: Sorry to hear your DGM has had to make the move to permanent care. Hugs to you as well. Muttley: I for one LOVED the pics of little Ben at the wedding. He is such a cutie pie. Thanks for explaining the thumb sucking picture. I saw that and thought- surely MuttleyDH isn't sucking his thumb for real Took the day off yesterday to help chaperon/judge DS' Knowledge Bowl meet. It was so much fun. It was awesome to see that many kids that excited about knowledge and learning. The Boy's team did really well- highest a team from his school has ever placed. DS is the captain of that team so I am doubly excited for them. His school had enough interest to field 3 teams this year.

Morning all -- The weather improved greatly, as far as I'm concerned, but I was still not able to fully enjoy it. Oh well. Nice weather is forecast for the next week. I plan to walk for an hour at lunch today. Yippee.
honey -- hugs to you. I must say that you are handling the situation rather well. Good to know that the girls will be gone as well. Sorry it didn't work out, but your health is more important right now. Feel better soon. If you are prescribed an antibiotic for the respiratory infection that will knock out the tooth infection. Unfortunately, most antibiotics are not a cure all, unless you are like me and allergic to so many things that the one I can take works for all. ;D
muttley -- I hope DH finds the mouse for you.
mk -- hugs to you as well. Our weather has improved, though I'm still amazed you have warmer weather than DC.
reenee -- I too often wash dishes while cooking, though I think it's due to a form of OCD. When I am finished cooking, there are no dirty dishes.
Happy Thursday all!

The good news: I did not have to get up before 4am this morning The bad news: MIL is NOT having surgery today. After multiple phone calls last night, at about 5 minutes to 5pm, the anesthesiologist tells us she isn't willing to to do it because the facility they are at doesn't have a full ICU and no ventillator. They called the surgeon and cancelled the surgery. Now, I am sympathetic to these reasons, but they've had the breathing test results for something like 2 months now. I was at the pre-op appt with the surgeon- none of this was mentioned. Plus, yesterday's appt could have happened any time in the last 2 weeks. It had to happen yesterday because the hospital either didn't get or ignored the specific instructions that were left to call me to schedule the appt- MIL rarely hears her phone when it rings, doesn't check her voicemail, and doesn't call back numbers she doesn't recognize. You can NOT call her to schedule- she can call you, but you can't call her. But no, the hospital claimed not to have my number, but they did have DH's number. Still, they called MIL once and left it at that. I'll talk to the surgeon's office this morning. If we can get this scheduled within a month at the "full service" hospital, and all the tests MIL has taken are still good, then we'll do it. However, if we can't get it scheduled in a reasonable timeframe or we have to do the tests over again, we're done with this set of doctors. Its open enrollment time for Medicare Advantage plans and we intended to switch her to a plan with MDs on our end of town this year anyway.
But, given everything last night, it turned out to be our spend. We went out to Old Spaghetti Factory for dinner. Today should be our one No Spend of the week.
mizbear: *hugs* sheila: Glad you and DS both enjoyed yourselves

sheila - LOL. Yeah the thumb sucking picture, it was a joke. I should probably say that on facebook, huh. Congrats to your boy's knowledge bowl team. That is great. sapphire - The mouse was not found. I'm guess he's back in hiding for a while. Got 2 little projects done last night. I have another slightly larger one to wrap up today and then on to the good sized project that was due yesterday. Go, Go, Go.

Muttley and Dakota- I am so jealous of your little guys. I love the Boy and only wanted the one kid but seeing pics of your little guys brings back so many memories of when DS was that age. Such a fun age- that basically 2 until 5 was a blast

The first interview offered DF the job! The drive is about the same and the pay is the same he was making on unemployment. He will hear back about yesterday's interviews within 1-2 weeks. That seems a long time since they were interviewing everyone on one day AND they had everyone interview them so they don't need to do second interviews.
shanen: sorry to hear of the surgery being cancelled. That is SO irritating. I really have NO time for incompetent doctors/health staff. If the anesthesiologist KNEW where it was scheduled what too them SO long to tell you they weren't willing to do it there?
But it probably is a good idea. My uncle had knee replacement surgery. When they did his second they couldn't get him to wake up and had to admit him to ICU. Found out later he has sleep apnia. Not sure how he got through the first surgery with out problems but whatever.
Dealing with a migraine hangover today. NOT fun. I just want to sleep. Oh and I may have gained back weight but not really sure why. I didn't eat THAT poorly yesterday!

muttley: adorable! mk: Yay for a job. Even if its at the same pay as UE, it will at least provide stability and (hopefully) benefits. And yes, we agree with the reason to cancel the surgery. It's just frustrating because they've had the information needed to determine that she should be in a full service facility for over 2 months. The surgeon wouldn't let us schedule the surgery until those tests results came back. So why was our surgery scheduled at the smaller facility? Unless the surgeon and the anesthesiologist have differing opinions of the risk. It really all comes down to the fact that this was decided only 13 hours before she was supposed to be in surgery, and at 5pm at that, so there was nothing we could even attempt to do last night to deal with the issue. It is what it is, and again, I didn't have to get up before 4am this morning, so that's a positive thing I'm holding on to.
Thank you all for your support. And I hope you never have to go through this kind of mess.

Doing well on no spends ;D
Honey, I am also being laid off. Last Friday was supposed to be my last day, but I ended up being extended until November 3rd. Getting that news is scary, but I'm sure you'll be fine.

Awe Mitten! your kids are so cute!! I can't believe how big your DD is getting. Congrats on your DF getting a job! Thanks for all the comments on DS. Sheila - You can come babysit DS. Well this week has been a bit spendy. Other than making Tacos when we got home from our trip Monday night. I have not cooked yet. Tonight we may go out to eat and then tomorrow night DH and I have a date for our anniversery. MIL is going to babysit. We are going to go to the haunted corn maze. We went there last year and had a ton of fun. I'm having a hard time raining in spending because we didn't use all of our cash for our trip (not even close). Plus i had set aside money for our date and then my mom and dad, Grandma, and Great Aunt and Uncle sent us money for our anniversery (like a total of $175!!!). I guess I'll work on it over the weekend. Last night, I didn't have to work. YEAH! Today I get to leave early to make a delivery on the way home (has to be there by 5pm). But I do need to work over the weekend. That is going to be fun fitting in. Have a great day all.

MK: Ahh, all 4 of your babies are adorable. financialpeace: *hugs* to you. I do seem to remember that you have a plan, too, though. And that's the first step to getting through the tough times. muttley: Ahh, holiday hangover when you have money left over. Definitely hard to reign in the spending. Maybe you can put the extra toward another date night for you and DH or in a bucket to start the savings for the next vacation

Muttlyn: I agree with Shanen. Find something else you really want to do/save for and put it towards that. The corn maze sounds like a blast. I am taking DS#1 and DD (DF and DSS may go if I can find someone to watch DS#2) are going to a wagon ride tomorrow and roasting marshmellows. I hope it doesn't rain. It has been really nice weather but is due to cool down some now.

I am so jealous- all these cute kids! Oh well, I'll just have to spoil TBear I guess- she's coming over tonight. Thor is adorable. Both of my Great-grandmothers had to go into permanent care. It was a difficult decision, but it was something that had to be done for their health and the health of their caretakers. Honey and financialpeace- HUGS on the layoffs. I know it doesn't help with income- but it's their loss. shan- That is sooo stupid. I guess we are a bit spoiled here because all of the hospitals have ICU units, etc because they are spread out so much, but still... I would be chomping at the bit over that.
