I think I've surprised DH with the grocery shopping over the last 3 weeks. I'm consistently spending under $50 (with coupons) at Woodman's. Now that doesn't include milk, which is cheaper at Aldi's here, and it doesn't include the farmer's market runs, which is mostly veggies for DH but some for me and/or the kids. But when I came home on Sat. and told him $49+, he was impressed. This is 1 adult and 2 toddlers. I could probably bring that lower, there's some granola bars and freezer meal type things in there. But overall, I'm pretty pleased with it. I haven't had to do a major "stocking" trip yet. And it does include some grains for DH's diet as needed too. Oh, I'm not including lottery tickets in there either. This is just groceries, with the odd household item like lightbulbs, TP or foil as needed. But as I said, I'm pretty pleased with it. And since you guys are giving me meal plan ideas, I'm hoping to spend less time trying to figure out the meal plan, cupboard/coupon check before I go grocery shopping. So thanks everyone! I haven't hit the grocery thread yet but knowing you all are here for moral support is so comforting. Thank you all!

We find that overall Woodman's has the best prices.
Sometimes, though, Copp's/PickinSave has better deals. You have to know your prices well, though. I don't know if you do boxed cereal, but sometimes, if you combine coupons, you can get 6 boxes of cereal (name brand) for like 1.25 a piece, plus a coupon for free eggs and milk in the future..
Do you have a QuickTrip? I don't know if milk is cheaper there than at Aldi's, but QuikTrip's bag milk was pretty cheap. And, they also had a buy 10 get one free card..

I don't think there's a Copp's in Milwaukee. I'm not aware of one if there is. DH is pretty down on Pick N Sav. I don't much care where I grocery shop, to be honest. Cereal we usually pick up at Aldi's. We've got 4 open boxes with assorted levels of cereal left in them so we won't be buying more until we finish off at least 2 boxes. ;D The 2 Aldi's closest to us have milk at $1.99 a gallon. It recently went up from $1.79. I'm not sure anyone can beat that. I know Pick N Save, Sentry, Sendik's and Woodman's can't, even with coupons. I never remember to check Target's milk prices!

Great job! We're the opposite in my house. I'm the spender in the grocery store and Mr Sroo is the sale shopper. Oh well, find something that works and go with it Thanks! Sam too! Yeah, DH was running all over doing grocery shopping and this way he's only buying for his diet - mostly the farmer's market and then Outpost/Fresh Market for the majority. Plus now I stick him with 1 kid when he shops. He's always said it's too hard to shop with kids but since I'm taking 1 with me, he's kinda stuck taking the other one. lol. I do give him a choice of which kid though. DD is easier as she's pretty good about not grabbing stuff off the shelves. Plus Outpost has those itty bitty carts for the little ones and she LOVES to push one though the store to help Daddy.

So not fair. Aldi milk here is $3.59 for 2%. The regular grocery store was $3.79 last I checked. And organic milk is $6+ per gallon. Guess that's a giant perk of living in WI!!!

Lol. Yeah, probably. You may want to check out other Aldi's. What we discovered is that the Aldi's out by DH's job (in the middle of yuppieland) charges something like $0.80 more per gallon for milk. And that as he checked the other Aldi's on his way home, it got cheaper.

Congrats, that is awesome! I've been doing all the shopping for 2+ years now and have only in the past month or two been able to get it under $75/week... and that's with no kids... so I am seriously impressed!

Mid, I'm guessing you eat diffently/better than I do. ;D I haven't had to buy a lot of meat yet. And I'm trying to use up the stockpiles. So it's very possible that this number is going to go up. The whiteboard in the kitchen for the grocery list is absolutely awesome for us. One of my nieces commented on it a few months ago and said her Mom (my SIL) had tried it but no one ever wrote anything down on it.

Target's milk is REALLY expensive.

Sam- There is one Aldi's in our area that has milk for $1.99 a gallon that I know of. I checked out the one closer to our house it was $3.20. It is way out of your way though. It is on State Ave in KCK just off of I-635.

Wisconsin Beth: I don't think it is unusual to spend more in some weeks and less in others. How much I spend is entirely dependent on what is on sale in any given week, what I HAVE TO buy, and what I am running low on in my stockpile. Keep up the great work.

There are so many ways to reduce your grocery bill and it takes time to incorporate them all on a regular basis. The fact that you have been able to get your bill lower during a period of increasing prices says a lot in itself.

Right now he can't drink anything other than water or tea so it seemed cruel to ask him to get beer for me when he was doing the shopping.
