Beth, something you may try for soup for the kids is giving them a straw. My kids love "red soup" aka tomato soup because we let them drink it with a straw instead of using a spoon. DD1 also likes to her Ramen noodles this way, so long as we crush the noodles before cooking. She says the slup up the straw just fine.

I am going to whip up some homemade pizza pockets this weekend. you can sneak some veggies in there, especially if you make your own sauce!

Currently, I don't have to sneak veggies anywhere. That's probably coming though...

i have to sneak them in... FOR MYSELF!
i, unfortunately, am so very picky with my veggies. I am always looking for ways to sneak veggies that i don't like into meals so i can't taste them but i get some nutrition from them. lol

chive, Out of curiosity, can you mods adjust the filters for 1 board? Or does proboards start with a basic filter and you can build up from that but not remove that basic filter? sorry, I'm just seeing this now. I'm not sure, but knowing the mechanism where we input things for filters, it doesn't look possible to me.

Ummm... I've got to look at the recipe. I think I've just been using Colby-Jack, but for some reason I think the recipe is actually a half cup of mozerrella and half cup of cheddar. The recipe also includes corn. It is really really good. Oh and Beth - DS's favorite meal is Mexican Chicken and Rice. On nights I make something like that, I'll cut up the chicken, onions and peppers before I go to bed the night before. Then I can throw them in the skillet when I get home and it takes less than 30 minutes until we can eat. If you give me your email address, I have all my favorites in a word document because I give them away a cookbook to my friends and family members who are getting married. Mary, that file is awesome. I did the chix. parm. last night. I loved it. And I was able to tweak it enough that DH could have a variation of it too.

www.thekitchn.com/ has some awesome and unusual recipes. I use them when I'm burned out on the usual stuff. I cook one type of meat each week so I don't have to cook it the day of. It saves my time and sanity Some of my favorite stand bys: Summer squash and corn chowder-we add chicken to the soup as well- www.cookinglight.com/food/everyday-menus/quick-easy-soups-stews-00400000057112/page6.htmlChicken Stir Fry-http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/tyler-florence/chicken-stir-fry-recipe2/index.html Asian Chicken Salads- Add chicken chunks to baby greens, top with mandarin oranges, almonds and sesame ginger dressing ( I got a lot of the mazretti sesame ginger dressings free at Kroger, they are delicious!) Chicken Pot Pie- I sort of wing the recipe at this point.. but this is what i started with- www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/chicken-pot-pie-recipe/index.htmlWe have a bunch of free/almost free frozen peas carrots and corn. We make our own chicken stock, so this recipe is really cheap. Also, I double or tripple the chicken pot pies and the soup when I make it. It saves me so much time.

Kids love things they can eat with their hands. Fish sticks, chicken, you know that kind of stuff. and you can do your own fish sticks too. Just buy the fish you want making sure it is boned properly and coating them with whatever bread crumbs you like. Fry in the skillet. drain on a paper bag. You can do the same with chicken.
Try keeping it simple to begin with cause kids dont have the palate we adults have. And let them have small amounts of something to dip in to. a little bit of ketchup or ranch never hurt anyone. but also offer other things. and let them help. If they help they'll eat more cause "they made it". And dont forget to give them fun kid food like hot dogs wrapped in crescent rolls or something like that from time to time.
My rule has always been you try everything at least once a meal. Tastes change and eventually those nasty green beans will become yummy. (all though I still dont like brussel sprouts and yes I still make them once in a blue moon)
