A friend's 20 something daughter is dating a guy who has made excellent money, currently makes very good money... but his company was just audited, and his travel did not 'match up' with his requisitions?... something like that... gps was involved...
He can keep his job... if he takes and Ethics class on his own dime...
She and her daughter were saying why not just cut the losses, because they are likely going to try to get rid of him anyway...
I said IF they would let him no fault out, give hiim a reference and maybe severence, i'd do it, but if not, i'd take the class, be as good as possible, and immediately start looking for work...
This is his only employer for many years, so he's going to have a BIG gap if he can't get some kind of reference/has to say he was let go for cause...
What would you do (besides tell friend to encourage dd to drop said... that has also been discussed...) But if you were in the position?..

I say take the class, and start looking for another job.
In my current company, since most people have been around for along time... they might let you keep your job but you can forget about getting a promotion anytime soon if ever.

I agree, take the class and continue to look the part at his current company, but look for a new one on the side.
Oh, and I would tell him to stop jerking around and follow the rules.
If he finds a job while he is still employed, he can easily explain why he doesn't want anyone to call his current company.
Oh, and when he gets a new job - he should follow the rules there as to not repeat the problem.

I would take the class, clean up my act and look for another job. In my company lots of people abuse the mileage allowance and management knows about it/has known about it for years.
His company just decided to use technology to put and end to a miscellaneous employee benefit.
If they offered the ethics class as an alternative I suspect he is not alone in abuse of the company policy. Just play their game and take the class.
