They were matching 20% of the first 10% (so 2% overall), but suspended it in 2008. No sign of it coming back yet.

Company puts in 3% "profit sharing", then matches up to 4%. I'm currently putting away the maximum amount allowed including "catch up" contributions. Right now 50/50 Roth and traditional 401k It takes 12-18 months of employment to get enrolled. And 5 years after that to be fully vested. Husband has a pension and a "deferred comp" (state government). No match but is putting in about 2/3 of the max allowed. We have about 6 years to retirement.

My DH is putting in the $5,500 catch-up contribution plus 30% of base salary. This is the first year he's had a Roth 401(k) available. DH has plenty in the regular 401(k), so current year contributions will go in the Roth 401(k).
DH's company matches 50% of his contribution. It used to be up to 8% of pay, but they cut that to 4% in July 09. They announced this week that they will be gradually restoring their match, increasing it to 5% retroactive to July 10. The match is in company stock, but that's fine with us. The company is a solid, well run Fortune 100 company.

Company match is "on hold" since March 2009. But when we did have a match it was 2% of 4% contribution. Not a lot, but it really adds up. Also, vesting takes 6 yrs of employment. I've been here almost 19 yrs - no problem there. Really hope they bring that match back sometime this year. Also hoping for a raise this year since we haven't seen one for 2 yrs.

My company matches 50% up to 6%. I used to contribute 10%, but I just upped it to 12% to cover the tax holiday. So that's 15% going into the 401K. I figure if the govt's not going to take that $$, then I will. The company ended contributions to the pension fund last year, so I am not going to have that income stream to depend upon anymore. The balance will continue to grow ($9.4K in my name currently,) but I have to make up for that now. I only have $37K in my 401K at age 31, so i'm behind already.

My company doesn't match, they just make straight contributions. 0% at first, then 2.5% after one year, 5% after 6 years, and 10% after 9 years, immediately vested. I max out - $16,500/year. This is in addition to a choice of two pension formulas (the more typical "80 point" plan or the alternate pension plan, designed for younger folk who don't plan to spend 30 years with the company). The pension plan takes 3 years to vest. If I quit today not much past that I'd get all of $238/month when I turn 65, which might cover dinner for two once a month in 2051.
DH's company matches 100% of 4% plus profit sharing (4% last year). He puts 20% in.

My company matches .81 of every $1, up to 6% of 'eligible pay'. Meaning base rate only, no overtime or differential included. I contribute $22k per year, which is $16,500 plus $5500 catchup for us old folks. I will also get a pension, which can be taken as lump sum or annuity.

100% up to 4% fully vested immediately, with Roth 401k options, plus profit sharing on a sliding scale.
That's for the job I'm going to be starting next month. I haven't decided what I'm going to contribute yet.

J, i have the same thing, no match for 457, contribute 9% to pension, town is suppose to match, but they relied on the market to make their contributions and when the bottom fell out they were short. Then they have to come up with more money and cry poor mouth blaming it on the town employee unions for the fiscal irresponsibility

My wonderful DH is active-duty military, so there's no "match", but he will get a military pension when he completes 20 "active duty" years in 2015. In addition, we currently put 16% of his base pay into the TSP.

We get a 50% match up to 6% plus a percentage of our pay in profit sharing at the end of the year. There is also a seperate year end bonus involved. I contribute 15% of my pay to the 401K.

Privately held -- dollar-for-dollar to 6% of base earnings plus (in lieu of a pension) a 3-4% annual lump based on age. On top of the 9% from the company, I put in enough to max it out.

The give a 3% match at my company, and I max out at $16,500. They terminated the pension last year but I didn't even have enough years to be fully vested, but in exchange they added another 6% i think. But they advertised lately that they were trimming that a bit in 2011.

My employer takes 5% of my salary, puts in 10% as a match, and I put in a lot more. Between my employer and myself, I am saving $ 1300 per month for retirement.

Basically, for every 2% of salary we deposit, we get 1% match. Once you hit 10% conributions, the employer match maxs out at 5%

Its discretionary, so as a company we know what is going out every year and can hold back or not depending on results. It typically comes out to about 100% of 3% regardless of whether employee contributes or not.

I get 100% match on the first 6%. I have been contributing 14% so that it equals 20 since I started when I was 21. Thought about increasing it this year to account for the SS tax decrease, but we have our first LO on the way so I think I will hold off.

I contribute the full $16,500 (actually a little over with post tax dollars). My company matches dollar for dollar on the first 5% or $8250. They also contribute 7% of total earnings. So, for 2010 I did $16,500 + $8,250 + $14,350 = $39,100 plus a little extra post tax. Sweet deal, I know.

Ours was 50% match up to 3% max...but that got ousted during the recent economic dip. This year a match has returned as a flat 1%. We are hoping to add a percentage each year until we are back up to 3%.
Right now I contribute 6%...with each wage increase I hope to add another 1-2%. By the time I'm 40 I hope to be contributing the max.

Our retirement plan requires us to contribute a minimum 7%. The city then matches the contributions 2:1.

I put in 3%, my company puts in 12%. Yes, it's VERY nice. DH puts in 10%, his company puts in 3%. We max out our Roths.

My company has no match but does offer a pension. I still contribute to the 401(K) - after 3 years of increasing my contributions, I got to the max in 2009 and 2010. It keeps out of a higher tax bracket...

My company kicks in 3.2% for the first 8% you put into your 401k. You can also buy company stock on a payroll deduction play at a 10% discount. I have to decide how much company stock I want to have because I know I don't want to have too much.

1 to 1 up to 5% of salary & bonus plus an annual discretionary contribution of up to 3% each year. Has been 2% for four of the five years I've been here and 1.5% in 2008. Vesting of the match is 33% for each year until you're 3 years with the company. Vesting of the discretionary is immediate.

My company matches 10% of contributions. I max out my 401k so the company kicks in $1650.
My wife's company matches dollar for dollar the first 6% of salary and is vested immediately. They also add up to 19% of salary as profit sharing based on company and individual performance. We contribute 15% to my wife's 401k.
Before reading this thread, I honestly thought most companies company matches were similar to my wife's company. I've even given my company a hard time for how they stack up to my wife's plan.

I have never had a match and seldom had a plan. Before 2003 the best I had was about 2-3 years where I was allowed to put in 15% other jobs nothing at all. I would start a job without a plan and then a year after they got one leave the job or they would have one then cancel the plan so only two jobs with about a year each. Usually you had to wait a year to start. I love the max going to actual dollars, I got one Sept of 2003 and put in 100% the rest of the year and maxed all the years until 2010 when I reached my goal. Some years the max was 22K since I have been old for a very long time.

Our match is 100% of the first 3% and 50% from there up to 5%. You basically have to put in 5% to get 4%. I contribute 11% and count the company match to get me up to 15%.
