Anyone else have that problem?
It said I was 192.8 this morning. I'm trying to gain weight, so that isn't the problem. I look almost exactly the same as I did at 183 though. Which isn't really much different than I looked at 170. Where the hell am I putting it all? Is it possible to hold 20 pounds of pure water weight? That doesn't even make sense. I'm pretty sure it breaks some immutable law of physics. The only logical conclusion is that my scale is a dirty liar. That bastard.

Since we're about 80% water you're holding about 155 pounds of water weight!

I don't think it's your scale that's lying to you. I think it's the mirror instead. After all - the mirror had it in for Snow White.

Let us know if the mirror talks back to you.

If it tells you you're the fairest one of them all, it's lying.

Good thing the bathroom on this floor also has the showers and lockers in it, so I only got a couple strange looks standing in front of the mirror in my boxer briefs checking myself out. I do look a little thicker through the chest and arms, but just a little. I'm still wearing the same size dress shirts and whatnot. They don't button at the neck anymore, but otherwise fit. If this is what twenty extra pounds looks like on me, I need to up my goal weight to like 250.
It's also possible that it's a mirror conspiracy... but that seems less plausible than my scale lying. I think there's a scale in the gym here. I'll hit that on my way back from lunch and see what it says.
Oh, and I really need to get more sun. I think I am darkening up just a wee bit, but my arms, face, and neck are getting much darker from helping out at softball practice and games, so my torso still looks REALLY pale. Also, body hair stubble is not a good look for me. I either need to get used to being hairy, or commit to keeping smooth, because the halfway between point is not a good look.

Wow, what a difference. I wonder if the steroids messed up his mind. I must say that even I look better than that.

Possible. Although, I don't think the percentage of pro bodybuilders every last one of which is on steriods has a higher percentage of criminals (unless you count illegal steroid use lol) than the general population. I do recall another story from the early 80's involving one of the Mentzer brothers being convicted of murder as well (the cotton club murders iirc). Arnold then and now:

Dark, remember muscle is denser than fat, your body may not be changing shape that fast, but you're getting more dense. Have you ever looked at 10 lbs of steak? That's about how much volumn you would need to add to put on 10 lbs of muscle. Its actually quite a bit of size. I'm getting pretty close to 200, but will try for 210 or 220 if I can keep it lean.

Arnold has definitely lost some tone, but his money, political power and connected wife make up for it.

Testicular shrinkage is a side effect of muscle building steroids. However, they are much more sophisticated than the early days. There are drugs that can be taken that reverse the shrinkage and other side effects. However, the results obtained by the pros are not sustainable without continued steroid use.

How do you know where you are progressing if you do not measure your body? Use the same tape measure every time as they "lie" also. My gympac came with a chart to record the measurements every month. The chart not only showed increase but could alert a potential nerve problem is one side was larger than the other.
I used the chart so I'd know where I needed some extra work. Waaaayyy too late now.
The list is - for men - neck, each bicep, upper chest, chest, just below the rib cage, waist, a few inches below the navel. Both thighs and both calves, height and weight.
Salt could be the culprit.

Titus must really have a "rage" going on. Thanks for posting that Doc even though it was disheartening.
I can't go to our progess pix. I'm not leaving amm* laying around!
Back on topic. None of the weight scales match. The one at our fitness center is supposed to be correctly calibrated and it is not. The doctor's offices are supposed to be calibrated precisely. I would reset my home scale when I weighed at the MD's. Now I'm not so fussy.

It's amazing how much steroids have come along. If you look at say the greats of the 70's like Arnold, Zane and Columbo they are very small when compared to the "greats" of today. I saw a picture of Franco in his prime with a tape measure around his arms and they were 18 inches.....Very few had the then coveted 20 inch arms. Arnold was at 21-22 iirc when he was in his prime.

How do you know where you are progressing if you do not measure your body? My pants are looser at the waist but tighter at the thighs. My thighs are more toned looking, not flabby, so it's good growth. My dress shirts no longer button at the neck, and they're tighter through the chest. My smaller t-shirts are tighter through the chest, shoulders, arms, and back. My calves also look bigger. Can't really say I'm seeing much change in my forearms, but everywhere else I'm a bit bigger and more solid. It's not much change for a twenty pound swing in weight though. I don't know, I just pictured myself a lot bigger at 200. Then again, I'm not there yet so we'll see. I'll stick to what I'm doing until I hit 200, which at this rate will be in about 3-4 weeks. Then, I'll add in some intense cardio to really trim up and we'll see where I end up at.

If the clothes fit method works for you, great. I prefer the measurement on the page in inches. Clothing cuts change with manufacturer or style of the time. Add forearms to the measure list above.

I've thought about measuring, but it honestly seems a little pointless. None of my goals involve specific measurements. I can picture the physique I want. The size, the shape, ratio of shoulder width to waist, etc. I have some strength goals. Numbers I'd like to hit in various lifts. Don't have a single goal that involves having a body part measure a certain amount though. ETA - Well except for one... but you take a pill for that, not exercise.

Well, clipping one's toenails and eating moon-pies isn't going to tip any scale in anyone's favor. Maybe the scale needs a little less moon-pies in order to show some truth.
