According to the Fit Day charts I'm 28.3. When I looked at the BMI vs weight graph it looked pretty good to me. I know when I start getting that puffy/fat look and the chart pretty much nailed it. I guess they made the chart for me and the rest of you are stuck with it

I'm probably in the Obese Class II, but even when I was on the swim team in college I was considered at least overweight and maybe Obese Class I, so I don't put much stock in the BMI. It really doesn't apply well to athletes or people with a fair amount of muscles; the system is definitely flawed. Yeah, mollymouser is right. I am 25.5 but have an athletic build, more of an bulky build. 175 lb 5'9'

a few years ago i when i joined a gym my BMI was calculated at ~25 (using calipers and weight) while i cracked the scales at a whopping 99 lbs. sure i had almost no muscle on me at the time but it seemed ridiculous to me. height+weight can't be an acurate way to calculate BMI. i believe the most acurate tests involve water dispalcement. also not taking into account gender is a huge flaw. i have a sib who probably rocks a BMI of 8 or 9 but he's a hardcore runner so there's nothing unhealthy about his BMI. on scales that calculate BMI be warry. the electronic pulse those things use is passing maining through your legs so if you carry most of your fat waist or below it will calculate your BMI higher than it may be 99 lbs OMG!!! I think I can curl you I agree with the water displacement method though /thumbs up

Pants/dress size is meaningless... Say thank you to Vanity Sizing. My measurements are an inch or so bigger than they were back when I was in my late teens/early twenties when I was struggling on the edge of "regular" clothes and the dreaded "Plus Sizes" I was a size 12. I'm currently 10 pounds heavier than back then (with waist/hip sizes an inch bigger) and wearing a Size 6. THANK YOU VANITY SIZING!! Way back when I remember agonizing over standing up in my siblings weddings - I could barely get into the size 12 - all the other girls were 4's and 6's. I've been joking that thanks to Vanity Sizing I'd need a Size Negative 2 if I ever got down to my dream weight (and not really feasable)... which would be the olden day Size 4... I'm brushing the BMI line between normal and overweight at a current BMI of 24.3. The scary thing is that I was 10 pounds less than I am way back when, was a plump but normal weight and dealt with alot of emotional angst because I was a "couple of calories" away from Plus Size.

I think for 90% of the population the BMI calculation is useful. I was horrified when I saw that my BMI was in the obese category last year... I was fat but surely NOT that fat!! but I was. I just couldn't "see" it. It was a wake up call for me. I think if you look thru the chart/numbers you'll find that for any particular hieght carrying an extra 50 pounds gets you into the obese category. 50 pounds is a lot. A pail of kitty litter is 25 pounds or more... That Thanksgiving turkey was probably close to 20 pounds... When I first got started loosing weight I was very motivated by imagining me lugging around a 40 pound box of kitty litter. No wonder I was tired and achey all the time

24 but I was 16 as of 2 years ago. Am glad to be out of that tunnel. I'd love to say that I look all good and funky with my now normal BMI, but the truth is I totally need to start exercising again to look toned.

Before she had her gastric bypass, my wife's was 59.23. It's now down to 33.08, and she's still losing weight.
Mine was 31.01 at my heaviest, and is now 23.63.

I am in the overweight class. Although, I think 10 lbs gone would add that extra distance off the tee that is missing.

I am a whopping 28.7 and I can tell you there is no way I could ever be in the normal catagory and still be healthy. Yes I have about 10-12 lbs extra right now but it is just winter weight and will come off in the next few months when temps get better outside, but in no way am I obese.

I'm at 27 right now. Been stuck at overweight for a while. I'm going to hit obese this year though!

Just got measured this morning at the gym.
1m 72cm (just under 5' 8) and 61Kg (134lbs).
BMI is 20.6
Body fat is 21.3%
I'm pretty happy with those numbers.
I care more about the body fat percentage than the BMI. I'd be happy if my BMI went up as long as the gain was all muscle.

Mine is 20.2 according to that chart. But I am in need of muscle tone - stat! I thought my recent dr's appt. said my BMI was 22 by their scale.
DH is in the obese I category. It's all in his belly and that worries me.
