This statement from the same individual who stated:
So anything else you want to pull out of your ass that I only need one word to get you to backtrack on?

Right Wing Hopping Mad Over Culture of Violence They Have WroughtRight now, the public isn’t ready to believe an argument that Jared Loughner was motivated by right-wing rhetoric. Fortunately, nobody has said that, because it’s the wrong claim to make. Nobody has claimed that crosshairs on a map or talk of “Second Amendment remedies” is specifically to blame (some on the right have blamed heavy metal music and a skull in his backyard, and that’s just as silly). The main claim is that the toxic stew of noxious rhetoric, particularly in Loughner’s home district and home state of Arizona, creates an environment that amps up a lunatic fringe. Loughner couldn’t help but trip over that, and indeed his writings do have a cockeyed resonance to some of the really far-right groups like Posse Comitatus and the Patriot movement. That doesn’t make those practitioners of angry rhetoric culpable, but it sure doesn’t mean what they’re doing helped, either. But even if you throw all of that away – and mind you, I think Loughner bears more resemblance to a Dylan Klebold, Eric Harris and Cho Seung-Hui than anyone else – I don’t think that the trend on the right is particularly deniable. Consider that, in the wake of the shooting, the feds arrested someone threatening Sen. Michael Bennet, Rep. Danny Davis received an email over the weekend saying he was next, and a leader of the Minutemen responded to the Tucson shooting by writing “Too bad Traitor Raul Grijalva wasn’t with her! He won’t be missed!” All three of these politicians are Democrats. When Clarence Dupnik gained national attention by spotlighting the role of violent rhetoric (“We have become the mecca for prejudice and bigotry”… “pretty soon we’re not going to be able to find reasonable, decent people willing to subject themselves to serve in public office”), he didn’t actually mention any political party or movement in his statement. The fact that conservatives moved swiftly to marginalize and demonize him and his words, that was a tell. They didn’t like what Dupnik said because they’re afraid people would get the idea that he’s right. And right-wing talk radio hosts, for whom bile and anger is the coin of the realm, they felt the need to rebut Dupnik right away: Phone calls poured in to stations across the dial to denounce Sheriff Clarence W. Dupnik of Pima County, who said at a news conference over the weekend that Arizona had become “the mecca for prejudice and bigotry” and that local TV and radio hosts should do some “soul-searching.” The radio hosts struck a defensive, even embattled tone at times on Monday. They said Saturday’s shooting had nothing to do with either their broadcasts or the state’s tense political environment; they read e-mails over the air that were critical of their political stances, and some spoke about death threats they had received. All agreed that Sheriff Dupnik had embarrassed Arizona and unfairly denigrated talk radio by linking it with the shooting. This sounds like one of those polls on the Ed Schultz show that miraculously gets 98% of the vote. Of course the radio hosts and call-in guests agreed. They’d have to reassess themselves and their career choices if they didn’t. At the far end of this spectrum you have Rush Limbaugh, again filling his audience with hate by suggesting that liberals “openly wish for such disaster in order to profit from it” and that Democrats are “a party that seeks to profit out of murder.” The war on Clarence Dupnik – and it is a war, I do not hesitate from that word – gets enlarged to a war on all Democrats. That’s their free speech right, just as it’s my free speech right to criticize it. These national leaders of the conservative movement are showing how they’re part of the problem through their own actions. …Just to add, there’s a Clarence Dupnik is my hero Facebook group, and People for the American Way has a petition to stand with the sheriff. Don't see it as back tracking. This administration is still intent on getting to the McCarthy train stop but just has to stop at Nixon first. Big deal.

Glenn Beck Worried Other Left-Wing Nuts Like Loughner May Kill PalinThe real tragedy of all of this is that people are being mean to Sarah Palin, the real victim of this whole shooting thing, as Pareene notes. You should never blame the victim, but Glenn Beck read a letter to her telling her to stay strong: "Sarah, as you know, peace is always the answer. I know you’re feeling the same heat — if not much more — on this.
I want you to know you have my support. But please look into protection for your family. An attempt on you could bring the republic down.
Please, call Gavin de Becker in Los Angeles. He is the guy that protects me. They are, bar none, the best. There are nut jobs on all sides.”Yes, an attack on Palin could bring the republic down. This unemployed snowbilly grifter is literally the only thing holding this country together. Palin supposedly responded with the following word-jumble: "I hate violence. I hate war. Our children will not have peace if politicos just capitalize on this to succeed in portraying anyone as inciting terror and violence. Thanks for all you do to send the message of truth and love and God as the answer."wonkette.com/434786/glenn-beck-worried-other-left-wing-nuts-like-loughner-might-try-to-kill-palin#more-434786www.salon.com/news/politics/war_room/2011/01/10/glenn_beck_letter/index.html

Don't pretend to care about divisive politics now. don't speak for me, or what I care about. it's awfully easy to cast stones from across the pond, but some of us have been here all along. I've been speaking out against the attitudes for awhile now, as I've seen it get worse and worse. Sorry I wasn't around for the Nixon administration to see it firsthand, but I can research too. things have gotten steadily worse in recent years from both sides of the aisle, and need to stop. You mean to show the contradictions and true intent of a political party to take advantage of such a tragedy? Not the same thing but thanks for playing. when both sides are doing it, and you continue to spin it for one side over the other - then yes, you are adding to the problem. thanks for playing.

Jared Lee Loner was a registered INDEPENDENT
We have seen delusional nut jobs who self medicate on street drugs, and alcohol for their lack of treatment and are a threat to the city they live in by slashing tires, robbing cars, and breaking into homes. They also live in misery and filth and unfortunately have posted some of their filth and garbage on message boards and were egged on to continue their tirades..

Was that a firing of random neurons, something you heard somewhere, or just wishful thinking?

re: note to self
I would encourage you to not put a lot of faith in reports soon after such events and continue to get information as time goes by. Especially don't post old information that has been shown to be inaccurate.

Wow that's great advise! To bad it wasn't used by the county sheriff and many others who started assigning blame before they even knew any information relevant to the actions.

I wonder if Loughner saw the liberal wish-fulfillment movie Death of a President, in which G. W. Bush is shot and killed outside a hotel and the world rejoices? Since no liberals on this board claim to have ever heard of the film (as stunning as that is), I'll give you the synopsis. In the film, Bush is assassinated in Chicago (hmm, I'm sure that wasn't an accidental decision), and the assassin (to the liberals' delight) gets away with it. The liberal makers of that film were openly advocating the assassination of a sitting president, as well as their hopes that the perpetrator would actually get away with the crime. I think Loughner was acting on that and took a shot at it himself (no pun intended), only he got caught...

So he was acting on a movie about the shooting of a sitting president and shot a US Representative? Think that is a stretch.

"Under federal law, every gun purchased from a licensed dealer requires an FBI background check. In 2009, 14 million background checks were performed, a jump from 12 million in 2008." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I didn't know that . Is it just hand guns or all guns..rifles, shot guns? I am believing that if a gun is purchased at a gun show, those showing are all licensed dealers ? Thus the same restrictions? If not a dealer, say a hobbiest , still able to set up and sell, no paper work, like a sale between private parties, thus no paper work? Any one know? ____---

All legal gun dealers are licensed. An "unlicensed" gun dealer is an arms trafficker. There are certain exceptions to registering sales with a background check. Certain antique and collectible relics are exempt, such as antique muzzleloaders, antique flintlocks, etc. If an individual has an FFL (Federally licensed firearms dealer), that person can import guns or buy directly from manufacturers, but very extensive background checks are required to get an FFL, and even an FFL still needs to go through the proper channels (background checks, waiting periods, etc.) to buy AND sell guns...
