Sounds good to me A! As Gold crashed after 1980, our debt went through the roof. So I dont think debt is the driving force in Gold. It is a fear and inflation trade.

It is a fear and inflation trade.
it is not either........all gold is...............is a reflection of the dollar. when the dollar gets stronger (in real terms) the price of gold will go down, when the dollar gets weaker, the price of gold goes up.
simple enough............? and please don't make this to be a 'day to day' thing......it is a trend thing with some days having unrelated moves, but the overall applies.

You keep changing your tune Maui. All your previous post's are talking about debt giving Gold a boost. We can have more debt and a stronger dollar as we did in the 1980's.

Alright, why not then, even though a wise man told me that gold miners were up 5% yesterday and that means that gold could move higher. The debt part of gold is linked to the fear. The fear that these uncontrollable deficits will continue with no end in sight. But of course there is that whole tax the millionaires and cut the debt plan that is supported by guys like Warren Buffet thing in the works.

conspiracy bullshit quacks
xyz- don't be so quick to dismiss the conspiracy quacks as our gov't has given them plenty to fuel their fire.
Operation Northwoods was a series of false-flag proposals that originated within the United States government in 1962. The proposals called for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), or other operatives, to commit acts of terrorism in U.S. cities and elsewhere. These acts of terrorism were to be blamed on Cuba in order to create public support for a war against that nation, which had recently become communist under Fidel Castro.[2] One part of Operation Northwoods was to "develop a Communist Cuban terror campaign in the Miami area, in other Florida cities and even in Washington."
Operation Northwoods proposals included hijackings and bombings followed by the introduction of phony evidence that would implicate the Cuban government. It stated:
"The desired resultant from the execution of this plan would be to place the United States in the apparent position of suffering defensible grievances from a rash and irresponsible government of Cuba and to develop an international image of a Cuban threat to peace in the Western Hemisphere."
Several other proposals were included within Operation Northwoods, including real or simulated actions against various U.S. military and civilian targets. The plan was drafted by the Joint Chiefs of Staff, signed by Chairman Lyman Lemnitzer and sent to the Secretary of Defense. Although part of the U.S. government's Cuban Project anti-communist initiative, Operation Northwoods was never officially accepted; it was authored by the Joint Chiefs of Staff, but then rejected by President John F. Kennedy.
our gov't also approved the growth of the vietman war with the same tactic
The Gulf of Tonkin Incident, or the USS Maddox Incident, are the names given to two incidents, one disputed, involving North Vietnam and the United States in the waters of the Gulf of Tonkin. On August 2, 1964, the destroyer USS Maddox, while performing a DESOTO patrol, was engaged by three North Vietnamese Navy torpedo boats of the 135th Torpedo Squadron.[1] A sea battle resulted, in which the Maddox expended over 280 3 inch and 5 inch shells, and in which four USN F-8 Crusader jet fighter bombers strafed the torpedo boats. One US aircraft was damaged, one 14.5 mm round hit the destroyer, three North Vietnamese torpedo boats were damaged, and four North Vietnamese sailors were killed and six were wounded; there were no U.S. casualties.[5]
The second Tonkin Gulf incident was originally claimed by the U.S. National Security Agency to have occurred on August 4, 1964, as another sea battle, but instead may have involved "Tonkin Ghosts"[6] (false radar images) and not actual NVN torpedo boat attacks.
The outcome of these two incidents was the passage by Congress of the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution, which granted President Lyndon B. Johnson the authority to assist any Southeast Asian country whose government was considered to be jeopardized by "communist aggression". The resolution served as Johnson's legal justification for deploying U.S. conventional forces and the commencement of open warfare against North Vietnam.
In 2005, an internal National Security Agency historical study was declassified; it concluded[7] that the Maddox had engaged the North Vietnamese Navy on August 2, but that there may not have been any North Vietnamese Naval vessels present during the incident of August 4. The report stated:
It is not simply that there is a different story as to what happened; it is that no attack happened that night. [...] In truth, Hanoi's navy was engaged in nothing that night but the salvage of two of the boats damaged on August 2.[8]
i hate to think what we will find in 40 years when our gov't declassifies what they are doing today.

The Earth is flat. It's always been flat since it was created 6000 some odd years ago!!! You know how I know? Well, I can see the edge from my back porch. That spot where the ground meets the sky and you can't see anything beyond, well that's the edge of the Earth.
I saw that movie....Step off and the sand worms get you..Whatever you do..don't say Frank "the" Impaler three times

Who's crying now. That's some sunshine ! It appears Goldman (together with virtually everyone else focused on physical not paper gold) has bought enough gold from its clients. Now, there is only upside. Goldie on gold: We closed our short trading recommendation on gold We have closed our recommendation to short COMEX Gold, as prices moved above the stop at $1,400/toz. We have exited the trade significantly below our original target of $1,450/toz, for a potential gain of 10.4%. The move since initiation was surprisingly rapid, likely exacerbated by the break of well-flagged technical support levels. Our bias is to expect further declines in gold prices on the combination of continued ETF outflows as conviction in holding gold continues to wane as well as our economists’ forecast for a reacceleration in US growth later this year. Explains the rip in gold this morning, and why it will continue to do so consider Goldman's "bias" to keep buying more gold from its clients (especially since any forecasts of "reaccelerating" growth now merely spark bouts of uncontrollable laughter). Buy until Goldman says to go long. love the part about us growth www.zerohedge.com/news/2013-04-23/goldman-closes-gold-short

You might want to ask anyone that has bought gold before the 1st of the year. Start with the ones who paid over $1900 a couple of years ago......
