Honey- You not only get a Mulligan, you get Karma- a lesser woman would have run screaming into the night never to return. HUGS. The girls weren't with you when the back glass blew out were they? Most of all- I hope you weren't hurt- although I'm sure it scared you half to death. HUGS. Things will get better.

Honey - Hugs!!!
I've been spending the last few days feeling sorry for myself and being grumpy. So, I called my best friend who lives in Alabama today. I'd thought about calling her several times the last couple weeks and always said oh she's busy, she's probably doing something and I didn't do it. But today I called her and just cried on the phone to her. I hate living so far away from her. Anyway, she made me feel so much better.
So, I took DS to get a hair cut today and he through a FIT. He did not want it cut and scooted and squirmed and cried and whined the entire time. UGH!!! What a pain. We then went to the library and grocery shopping. I estimated ahead of time that it would be about $65 and I was right on the money. $65.44. About $10 was food for Ben for our trip next week and about $10 was part of this desert I'm making for church tomorrow night.
I've got to do a few things for work, unfortunately I realized I left some of the info I needed at work to work on it. I guess I will just work on everything else and do that first thing MOnday morning.
Have a great weekend all.

update; 22 NSD, 2 EOD. I have eaten out 2 times this month but still not at my favorite restaurant and not my favorite food. I was late paying 2 bills because I forgot about them on the day I pay bills. I am making an effort to pay everything on the first of the month instead of when they are due. The electric I can pay on line on the date it is due but I forgot about it this month. The other bill I just totally forgot until I looked at my checkbook on line and wondered why the check didn't show up on my on line account. Then I looked at my checkbook and saw that I forgot to write out the check. DUH!!!!! Three days after I sent the payment in they sent me a bill from a credit company. They had turned me over to them the week before. I never got a phone call or a letter from them to remind me. OH WELL. They will get the check every month and that will be that. In fact, I have never got a bill from them since I started paying them. I hope my figures are right because I don't have anything from them to let me know what I owe. I have 6 birthdays listed for next month but I don't know if they are still on out list. This is the list: MrsB startsmart gldnluvly lumberlady Bugs cdarrow HappyCat Is there any one that I am missing before I go to the calendar? As you can see, I found my list and I MK's birthday listed on the right day.

Update: 14/15 NSDThe possible "guest"/temp. roomie decided to go with the other place she looked at. But the dresses are a go, I pick up the materials, sign a contract, and get the deposit tonight. Which is good because my gas light came on yesterday. I also have an appointment next weekend to look at an apartment/house share that might work out for me. It's a full 2 bed/1 bath apartment, but it shares an entrance with the homeowner. On the upside, it's in the neighborhood I wanted to live in when I moved here, there's a washer and dryer in the basement (no more quarters!), and all of the utilities are included. And she'll consider a pet. Honey - ugh, I think it's time to evict Murphy. Maybe I should ship you some cookies. ;D

Update: 15/15 NSD, 8/10CSD
Taking a few minutes to check in with all of you. Things have been busy with school and of course all of the related activities. I have managed to get a few things done this weekend but still have other chores that keep getting pushed down on the list. I did get the next big item on my purchase list ordered this weekend I have been checking out prices and saving for this for while. I am not sure when it will be delivered but at least I got it ordered. After this I have only one additional item to get. This one will be needed very soon as every thing I try to use it, it kicks itself off after a short time and will not restart.
Start -- Have fun on your trip. Remember to relax. You are on vacation.
Honey -- Hugs. Hope the end of the drama is near.
Everyone else have a good week. I will check in as I can.

UPDATE: 23/25 CS/NS; 24 NEO; 12 MOAN; 2 S; 1 EO
I may be returning my niece's clarinet. The music store charged me almost $3 for using my card (without teling me). I am calling tomorrow and they better be able to explain it- i.e. sales tax, etc. There is nothing in the contract about a fee for paying by credit/debit card. They also ran the purchase as 2 separate charges and only one has gone through- so what I thought was $45.43 was really $66.62- not counting the mystery fees.
I found her brand new clarinets much less expensive on Amazon, but I am hesitant to get her a $80-100 clarinet because I am concerned about quality.

Honey, I'm so sorry for the rash of bad luck you've been having lately Hope things turn around soon! Update - 19 NSD/CSD, 12 EOD Spent Weds - Fri out of town at a conference and I don't even want to look at my CC statement. At least my mileage/per diem should cover most of it. The conference was fun, though... my boss and I skipped out on the afternoon sessions both days and hung out at the bar Way over budget in every area but auto/transport... next month should be better, we're getting an escrow refund and our $150/month lower mortgage payment is effective 11/1. Ready to be done with September, October is my favorite month (anniversary, DH's birthday, and Halloween!)

I'll tally up my totals tomorrow at work. But 2NS, 2NEO's for this weekend. I tried to spend today but I struck out at Target. Need a new CD player for mini-D's room and the only ones they had were over $40 bucks. I guess I have to try Wal-Mart.
Mini-D has been so clingy and lovey today. I think he is not feeling well. Both of our colds seem to have had a second wave hit late yesterday. Last night I had to take cough medicine at 2am because I couldn't stop coughing. He was up from 1-2:30am, so we kept each other company. I let him crawl in bed with me for a while. (DH went to the guest room, because I was coughing so bad.) The good news he slept until 8:15 which is late for him.
Honey- HUGS!! Things have to turn around for you soon.
Startsmart- Have fun. I loved the picture you posted on FB.
Reenee- Glad the dresses worked out. Hope the new place works out.
Midwest- Here's to a better October.
Muttley- Good job estimating at the grocery store.

So what the MOB (Mother Of Bride) didn't mention is that one of the bridesmaids is about my size. And the pattern only goes up to an 18, which when translated from the alternate reality of pattern sizes is only like a 14. I'm going to give it 2 hours tonight to see if I can fix the pattern to work for this girl, and if I'm drinking at the end of the two hours, I'm going to insist on another pattern. I've only got to add 10 inches. Where did I leave my margarita again?

Honey: Oh ouch. Why when you are down does life keep kicking us? I don't know about you but I never say "how can it get any worse?" If I do life shows me.
Reenee: Since I don't sew, besides buttons the whole process is a mystery to me. That however sounds silly of them to give you a pattern that is no where near this girls size.
Long drama feel free to skip: Had an interesting week. Still driving DS#2 to day treatment but that should stop this week. Had my b-day and overall I am going to say I had a good time. Sat DF invited friends over. Was going to be a surprise but had to let the cat out of the bag as I was unsure if I was going to see grandma in the hospital.
Thursday night went to the hospital and nothing like going to see an old lady who is NOT pleasant, doesn't know you any more and is not grateful for anything. For some reason the hospital decided to release her yesterday. She now thinks she has 6 cats so she thinks 5 are missing since she only has one. Dad is 45 minutes away visiting his wife while she is on a layover for flights and DGM is going nuts. Plus she wants to leave her house but once she gets out doesn't know where she lives.
So he wants me to go over. Now I have 3 kids I also need to get bathed and in bed and ready for school. oh and DF needs to take DSS home also. So get ahold of DGM's neighbor and she helps as much as she can. Now do you think DOD can be bothered to cut short his time with his wife to deal with his mother? Yeah right. So get my mom, who is divorced from my dad for the last 28 years to go deal with her.
Dad then goes over and basically has to lock her in her own home so she doesn't get out. She keeps wanting to go "home." He needs to go home and deal with his dogs and horses. But the hospital decided she was okay to go home, not to a nursing home or any place else and you can't contact the nursing staff or county staff until today.
Oy Veh.

Reenee: I am joining you for that margarita. I am hoping I didn't gain any weight this week for my weigh in in 1.5 hours. Between going out to eat since we were at the hospital, b-day cake for my b-day and not being able to exercise dealing with the drama.....

reenee- Let me guess- even Butterick and McCall's have started doing that weird size thing now.... Yuck. Either that or I was a child sized bride- twice. Dakota- Try Family Dollar for CD players. I needed one in a pinch and found a decent one there for $10. Hope you all feel better soon. mid- HUGS- To a better October. Today should be a NS/NEO/MOAN. I get to meet DGMs Homecall nurse and PT person today. One of them already cracked on something I did and I warned her I was not going to be polite, friendly or professional if they said something- partially because I don't have to. They don't like the way I clean. I use anti-bacterial and anti-microbial cleaners and all natural cleaners instead of things like bleach or ammonia that are respiratory and skin irritants. And I don't bleach the towels. If I bleach my grandmother's towels- I am going to need a nursing home- or a funeral director.... these people have NO clue....

Dakota: Thanks for the recipe- it's officially on the meal list for this week. Picnic at the zoo sounds like a fun time- how did it go?
mizbear: yeah for passing the inspection. Good luck with the home health aides for DGM.
Honey: Continued Hugs for all the teenager drama still plaguing you and this mess with the windshield. Murphy please leave my friend alone.
Reenee: new place sounds promising. Curious- did you hear anything from the guy you texted? Sorry he is being a flake on you like that.
shanen: Hope you are feeling better.

MK - Sorry about the Grandma drama.
I am pooped. I need a weekend to recover from my weekend. I've got 3 projects to wrap up and get up to the City today. I wish had more PTO Less than 2 years and I'll get an extra week of PTO. I'm holding out for that. I am trying to figure out how I am going to get everything done this week. Besides work (and i need to squeeze and extra 2.5 hrs out of the next 3 days ... although I may come in an hour early on Thursday, so then that is only an extra half hour each day which is doable) and working out (which I need right now), I've got to pack and balance the checkbook and pay some bills before we leave. My MIL is going to be riding with us. My niece's flight is now getting in like 5 hrs sooner than originally planned and BIL and DN are going to leave directly from the airport (yes she is flying here so she can have her first road trip...I didn't quite get it, but it is an extra 2 days with her dad). Anyway, back to work.
Have a great last week of September all.

Update: 11 CS; I might just meet my goal of 15. We had some crazy storms last night, lots of rain, lightening & thunder - maybe a little hail mixed in. We got close to 4 inches of much needed rain.
Honey - I read the latest about the girls' meeting w/the rep; are both girls moving to other homes or just the one? I hope that the next few weeks go quickly and that you are soon able to have some peace & calm in your home.

You know, at this point I am seriously considering just falling off the face of the earth so Murphy, or whatever, can't find me. I have had this tooth ache for several days and get to see the dentist at lunch time ... probably for yet another root canal. Seriously, I am so embarrassed to even tell y'all this. ETA: The dentist thinks the molar may be broken top to bottom - so I have to go see an oral surgeon for an extraction.

honey--oy vey. I'm sorry. But please don't fall off the face of the Earth. The Earth needs you. mk and mizbear--happy belated bdays!
This weekend was rough and busy. Yesterday, I was reminded why I don't drink like I'm 22 anymore. I also had a marathon cooking session: 2 soups, Mexican stuffed shells (thanks for the recipe, azmom. I had to tweak the recipe due to an inadvertent/hungover misreading of the instructions. I'll let you know how I fixed it if you want), chili cornbread cups, and 3 dozen cookies. I can now officially feed the Brady Bunch for a week.
I'm so excited for my financial blogger conference this weekend. Interestingly enough, both Donna and Mia will be there. It's pretty much all paid for at this point and I just need a little bit for drinks and maybe some food at the airport.
Along those lines--would any of you like to write a post for my blog? I'm trying to plan the next few weeks out, and I have bunch brainstormed but I think it would be good to start highlighting some other writers. You can either message me here, on FB or on my personal email (if you have it). I have no real requirements except that it's about personal finance, is not offensive and is somewhat noncontroversial.

Update: 19 NS/CS, 21 NEOs, 13 MOANsSorry for going MIA. After the fall on Monday things got really stressful with watching DD2 for head injury and dealing with her little cold. Not to mention, I think she's starting to teethe . Luckily though, DD2 never had to get a CT and is doing great now. She was probably just fussy due to being sore or had a bit of a headache. Thanks so much for all the support and sympathy! On the money front, we're doing pretty good this month but I just found out my grandma is being sent to hospice care. I'm going to make a quick trip to see her with DD2 since she really wants meet her newest great grandchild. I'll have to take the money out of our EF since October income is already very tight. I have to admit I hesitated a bit about making the trip but after talking with DH I felt better. He said I absolutely have to go because if I don't see grandma before she passes I'll definitely regret it. When grandpa was dying, I couldn't go because of DD1 and work etc so I really want to see grandma at least one more time. I booked the plane ticket, car and hotel and think I can do it all for under $600 if I'm careful with food. The hotel has breakfast included and I'll probably be with family most of the time so won't have to eat out much. I think this is one of those instances though where money isn't the primary consideration and was really happy DH agreed. Hope everyone is doing well!

24/26 NSD
Brief check in. I got the apples picked from my tree this past weekend. Over a bushel! They taste great, really "apple-y." The only problem is that they are the size of golf balls, a few tennis balls. A lot of prep for not so much apple. If I keep at it for the rest of the week, I think I will end up with about 25-30 pints of applesauce.
Honey's problems reminded me I need to set up a date to have Onyx's teeth cleaned.
Which also reminds me, recently Calleigh has learned the joy of tummy rubs. This is the same cat that squeaks when she is touched unexpectedly, by anyone, even me. So now she walks runs about four or five steps ahead of me flops on her back with all paws waving in the air. If I stop and pet her tummy she just purrs, at high volume, wiggles around and curls her toes. She is in bliss if we are on the bed and I will keep it up for a while.
Gotta run and get some pints out of the water processor.

Update: 4 NS + 14 CS = 18 of 24 I will not meet my overall goal this month let alone the NS goal. It's been months since I've had this few NS days. I know what I spent it all on because it's right there on my calendar, but still. October should be better- no vacations once I get back from the wedding and DH is back in school. Life should be nice and scheduled again.
Honey & MK *hugs* I wish I had a magic wand I could wave and make it all better.

mrslynch - I would be willing to write a guest post for you. I even think I have a topic:
"What to do when you get laid off"
Yep, in addition to everything else going on - unless something changes radically in the next three days - I am probably going to be told on Friday that I am being laid off my job.
Even if the worse doesn't happen and I escape this round ... it has made me consider "survival mode" and what I would do first, second etc....

mizbear - He said since air couldn't flow it'd just freeze in the system and then when we turned it off it melted. Except we cleaned the filter and it was still happening. The guy came back yesterday and said he had no idea and without ripping the entire thing apart couldn't diagnose the problem. Basically we're better off just getting a new main unit rather than paying someone to take it apart and put it back together again, given it's five years old+. Le sigh.
Blue just went for an estimate for laser eye surgery and it's a bit more than we expected based on friends who've had similar procedures. So not happening next year. I feel bad for him but $5k is a bit much right now.
We're also getting estimates on other projects that need to bed done in the next year or two, plus the sprinkler system we want done. So we have guys coming to give us a quote on redoing our back window (the wood is cracking, we can't open three out of four, plus the cats are quite skilled at ripping out the screens because they are so poorly anchored) and putting up a fence to replace the neighbor's (side neighbbor) crappy fence that was damaged in Irene. Fun times here.
honey - OMG what the heck caused that? I'm so glad you are okay!!!
muttley - that's what friends are for. My BFF is a person I rarely talk to but when I do it's like no time has passed and I can tell her anything. Glad you have one of those super friends too.
Last weekend was spendy as my parents came to visit. We drove out to the Hamptons for some apple and pumpkin picking ($30 for 20lbs of apples, hello apple pie, applesauce, apple and pork for dinner...), drove up to the North Fork and went to a bunch of wineries, then ordered in dinner ($77 for the four of us, our treat as my parents paid for lunch and ferry tolls). Then Sunday I finally made it to Jones Beach. It's fifteen minutes from my house. Sometimes I can smell the ocean. And it took me 2 years to go. So dumb. It's really pretty and it was quite eerie as it was hazy and almost no one was there. I loved the historical facts and photos along the boardwalk that show you how it was in the 1930s and onward. I'll definitely have to go back. I can picture it being quite pretty in winter, too. So anyways. Trying to keep things in line this week to balance it all out.
mitten - all I can say is good luck. That doesn't sound like a fun situation.
mrslynch - I hear you on not being able to drink anymore. At Friday's dinner party I pretty much drank an entire bottle of wine. All us girls had one. I don't know how it happened. All I know is Saturday started out kinda rough lol.
sbcali - so sorry to hear about your grandma, but I'm sure she'll really appreciate the visit, and so will you.
SES - such a cute description of calleigh. My cat growing up was very anti-tummy rub, so it's so bizarre to me that our two love it so much. I keep expecting to get clawed like crazy.
Honey - ... maybe you can write a book about this period in your life? I feel it'll be a dark comedy...

Mr. Potential - sent me a text Sunday night from a different phone number like we had just talked the day before or something. I'm not going to write him off yet, but I'm sure going to ask some questions the next time I see him. Which won't be until next week at this point because I'm working crazy hours this week and my phone is off until Friday. Dresses - I replaced the pattern. I was a little worried that they wouldn't be able to visualize what I could do with a different pattern, so I got one that will work for the girl and made up a muslin test and sent them pictures. And they love it! Woot! Only 3 extra hours of work instead of a whole day. And now I'll have an original design to add to my pattern library (I made significant, but easy, changes to the pattern I purchased) Mizbear - Sizes are not standard across the pattern companies. McCalls/Butterick/Vogue tend to be very similar (they're made by the same parent company) and Simplicity/New Look/Burda tend to be pretty similar too. But on the other side of the coin, Butterick isn't the same across all patterns. At least one of their lines has a totally different size chart. It's just like wedding dress shopping. Pay no attention to the number on the tag, it has no relation to the size you normally wear. MK - I was originally led to believe that the Mom-of-the-Bride knew how to sew and had sewn dresses before. But apparently not. She picked pattern sized based on the girl's regular clothes size rather than her measurements. That's why she gave me a pattern that's no where near the right size. 3cats - I can sympathize on forgetting bills. Even if I've got it all listed out in a spreadsheet/budget, somehow I forget about some things sometimes. But for whatever reason, if I print out a checklist and tape it up in my kitchen (inside a cupboard door where I see it but random guests don't) I do a lot better. moneysquirrel - I hope the new school year is treating you well. MK - It sounds like your grandma is dealing with some alzheimers/dementia issues. She definitely doesn't sound safe to be left home alone right now. I hope your dad can get her into a facility or get her a care provider. Honey - I've got a lovely guest room all set up that you can hide in. It's got my dress form and a 1960's robins egg blue Singer fashion mate sewing machine in addition to the bed. And did I mention the fabric stash? My place also boasts half a bottle of wine and 2 frozen pre-mixed margarita thingys. And all the cookie supplies you could ever need. ;D Muttlyn - If you figure out that more-hours-in-a-day thing, let me know. I could use a few extra myself.
