Please be thinking of Buddy the Beagle. We had to take him to the Emergency Clinic and he is in surgery right now for a "male' problem. dancin: Keeping my fingers crossed for poor little Buddy. I'm sure he'll be fine, but I bet he won't come home happy! Let us know how he's doing.

ooty- I drink lactose free milk so I am used to paying right around $6/gal for it. That's why I use coffeemate. I can put regular ol skim in my coffee and cook with it- but I can't drink it. It's bad when chocolate milk is a luxury. I guess I could try picking up a nice 30-something dairy farmer.... dancin- Will say a prayer for buddy. DB is bringing coupons Weds.

MizBear -
Do your stores sell Darigold milk? I have some tearpad mq's for .75/q lactose-free milk that don't expire until 12/31.
Or, if you have Safeway, I have $1/1 cat coupons that expire 10/10/11.
Let me know if you want any of those. I will be happy to mail 'em to you. I mostly buy Rice Milk, so I rarely use these.

Buddy the Beagle is FINALLY home and is not feeling well at all as you can imagine. He is crying a bit and is finally trying to rest. He will be on antibiotics and pain medication for 10 days. He has to wear a collar and the Rocket Man (our rescue pup) doesn't know what to make of it all. Anyway, it's good to have him home and he'll be getting a lot of extra love over the next few days. =

Just a couple of notes from shopping, etc this weekend.
I was shocked to look in the closet of my teenaged boys bathroom and find that the stockpile of men's bodywash was gone. Seems like it was about 2 years ago that I was getting all the free or MM deals on mens bodywash and adding to the stockpile. The boys used to roll their eyes every time I added more saying that they will never use it up. I haven't bought any in a long time, so I guess we are at the point will have to start shopping for it again. I also think the boys were using the bodywash to wash the dogs since the dogs would have that "men's cologne" smell after a wash.
My adventure over the weekend was at my Walmart. Went their Saturday, bought a lot of fairly expensive health care items plus lots of food. My bill was over $200 and seemed to be more than I thought it should be. On Monday, cleaning out my purse I found the Walmart receipt and was looking at the expensive items to see why I spent so much. I found that I had been charged for 63 ears of corn! when I only bought 6 (which were of course already eaten). It really bothers me when this happens and I didn't think there was much I could do about it, but decided to try the Walmart (about 5 mile trip). Went to customer service, there were no lines, told the clerk what had happened. She actually chuckled, it did take her a few minutes to figure out what to do but she refunded me the corn money, I paid for 6, so I got back over $20. Of course, i immediately spent the money on other things....

georgiagal: Similar thing happened at Walmart to me. I bought some broccoli crowns and the weight on the receipt said 2.7 lbs when it was actually under 1 lb. Got my money refunded without a problem.
There's a small beverage center in Albion that also sells some grocery items. They come out with a Q booklet and run some cool sales every month or two. This weekend I got rolls of Bounty Basic for $0.79/roll. Had the $1/2 Q's, with tax was $0.71/2 rolls of PT. Did that twice and figured it was better than nothing. They also had the Charmin Basic 4pk double rolls TP for $1.99, used the $1/2 so $1.49 each...ok, not stellar, but need to stock up.

reneejune: Thanks for the response. I guess what I want to do won't work then because if I have to enter my phone number before scanning the q's, that's the same as using a cashier and the $1 SW q won't work--the bottom says the item has to be at least $3--which it won't once the club card or phone number is entered. Oh well...they are always trying to find ways to trick us aren't they??? ;D
Dancinmama: Take care of your little buddy, Buddy! I know he loves it when his "mom" pays extra attention to him. Poor Rocket, too, as his best friend isn't feeling so hot. They get so confused, don't they? Let us know how they're doing.

murpath - it should work. if you're going to SW for something else try it. scan your items, scan your coupons & scan your card LAST. especially if you do self-check, it doesn't hurt to try. i don't have cable so i never saw the EC show. well i saw it over the weekend while at my dad's house. one thing i noticed was that each time they handed over all coupons first & scanned any loyalty cards LAST. so you CAN do it that way, you just have to hold onto your loyalty card & insist that they scan it last if they put up a fight.

Maximize your savings - if there was a catalina deal on the presale price and the catalina would print after you had scanned all your items, then it's worth doing this. I remember doing this at Kroger last year on the duracell batteries. Buy 4, have them scan all 4, then give your club card and then the Qs. That way you had to buy only 4 instead of buying 6 or more, if you had to base it on the sale price.
It would also work on free item Qs, if they would take off the whole price. But most places are aware of these now and won't let you scan all your items without your club card - at least where I shop.

Thank you all so much for your well wishes for Buddy. It will be so nice when he is back to feeling like his old puppy dog self. My sister, her hubby, and their dog Roxie, came over for a BBQ. Buddy and Roxie have known each other for years. Even though Buddy has been neutered, he's gotten a little excited around Roxie in the past and has tried to mount her; but on Saturday he would NOT leave her alone. (No wonder every time we would talk about Roxie around Buddy, he would cock his head and act VERY interested in what we were saying. ;D ) Anyway, he got a little overly excited and could not put his puppy dog penis back where it belonged. They tried to "fix" it without surgery, but it was a no go. Wouldn't you know it, he would need emergency surgery on a holiday - and I was plum out of vet coupons. ;D I said to DH, "Wow in the olden days you'd just have to go out and shoot your dog to put it out of its misery. How sad." murphath: He and Rocket HAVE become best buddies. If they are outside together and I call them and yell "TREAT!!", Rocket will jump up and down and nip at Buddy's long ears as if to say, "Come on Buddy. Did ya hear that? We get a treat. Come on. Let's go!!" We are so fortunate to have such happy "kids" (as we call them) that get along so well with each other.

I have nothing hounding-wise to post. Now that is just sad. On the positive side, it coincides nicely with my having more to do right now. But still, I like having a deal!

Saveinla: I did the exact same deal last year and I got a TON of batteries. I don't think they let you do it that way anymore, but I rarely shop at Krogers except to buy gas cards. They are still having the quadruple fuel points when you buy giftcards. I got DH some cards for his birthday and gas cards for us both to use. We got $1.00 off each gallon of gas we filled up with. This is a great deal and a good way to get cheaper gas especially if you have birthday or Christmas gifts to get. Dancin: I hope your dog is feeling better. Georgiagirl: Check out CVS deals for next week. Irish Spring and Softsoap bw are on sale. Leanna: Don't feel bad. I'm still hanging on to $4.00 UPs and am trying to figure a good way to use them. I'm so disappointed with RA right now. CVS is slow but I don't seem to have a hard time keeping my ECB's rolling, especially when I have a fist full of rainchecks. Our temperatures have taken a 38 degree drop in two days time. Today it is so chilly after we about melted on Friday. I told DH it was time to start thinking about making soup, but I am getting very low on crackers. Any good cracker deals anywhere?

Yeah, Ruby Slippers, RA is very dead right now. I'll be buying some Pantene next week at RA, but it's only because I was able to trade with someone to get enough of the "free" Pantene q's to make a scenario work for myself.
I sure hope things pick up. Truthfully, not so much that there's anything that I desperately need at the drug stores, but more because I enjoy the hunt & chase of it.

Oh boy...adding fuel to the fire. Just what we needed a self-described "shelf clearer" who brazenly attempts to justify her greediness. It's gonna be a tough year girls. dancin:Hope Buddy is feeling better today. Kisses and hugs to him and Rocket doggie.

Hi ladies...just stopping by to say Hi. Glad to hear the deals stink, cuz I totally feel "out of it". I've been to Wags once since my surgery. I wanted to go this week for the Carmex lotion (LOVE!) and the Bio-Oil, but, not sure I'll get there. I'm doing pretty well, feeling a little better every day. I have driven, so, that's a plus, but still can't do much and get really tired really fast. Plus, mom went home so I'm on my own now. Really have to be careful and take it easy. All you fellow north east ladies, stay safe! We are getting 4-7 inches of rain today, on top of what we just got with Irene on Sunday. Scary stuff. I am definitely staying put today, even rescheduled my post op doctor appt. My basement will flood, for sure, and I won't be able to clean it...goodie... dancin-Hope Buddy is doing well...sounds like something my crazy dog would have happen, since he constantly feels the need to h*mp his brother Offer: I have a few Safeway Q's from a magazine. I'd be happy to send them out since we don't have any around here. They expire 9/30. There is $1 off Any Totino's pizza stuffers, Pills breakfast sandwiches or Eggo muffin tops, $5/15 frozen items, $1/1 Open Nature product and $1/1 frozen Safeway Store brand products.

Connie - glad to hear you are recuperating. Please don't overdo it. You may feel okay but you need to take it easy! I know it's hard to do. I had my bunion surgery and I am really tired of sitting around. Going back to work tomorrow as I can sit there as well as at home. Have this boot to wear for 5 weeks. It's like a ball and chain. LOL. Told my husband I was going to work in the garden this afternoon when it warms up. I'll sit on a stool and wrap my foot in a plastic bag and do some weeding. Good thing it doesn't take too much to entertain me!!!

Poor baby! It's like he had taken doggy Viagra and experienced the side effect they warn you about on the commercial! I wonder how often that happens...

I wanted to fall over when they gave us the estimate, but what are you going to do? Buddy is back to his old self today. He still has to take meds and wear that cone around his neck (so he can't lick himself), but he is wagging his tail and is not crying any more. It is so funny, he doesn't have very good peripheral vision with that thing on and he keeps running into stuff.

Hi all! I hope everyone is doing well. Not much in the way of shopping to talk about. I went to CVS and got 2 free carefree pantylines and 2 skintamate shave creams and 2 free milky way bars, and a bottle of coke. I think I spent like 3.50 total. I think like 1.50 of that was tax. Truthfully the tax actually starts to add up with even those free things. Glad Buddy is okay Dancin. I used to breed my show dogs and had that happen to one of my dogs once. I actually had heard of it so I took action pretty quickly myslef and "fixed" the problem. Later when I was taking to the vet he told me how much it would have cost if he had had to surgically fix it. Have a good day all.

Random....but here's why I keep a Price Book...
One of the regional blogs had this "great deal!" on pickles. Well, I needed to go to Safeway anyway, and planned to get this deal when I went there.
Turns out it wasn't any deal. The size of the pickles was the small size and when I added it up, it cost more than what I would pay for the larger size!
So, a good reminder of why it's nice to know prices for myself, where I live.
Another related note - on another site someone was mocking Walgreens 3/$10 Coke "sale" saying it was no deal. Well, where I live, unfortunately that IS the rock bottom price for Coke products these days.
So, since the deals are slow these days, I'm rambling a bit here as a reminder to myself and to share with everyone else that prices are very regional.

Good points leanna! I think the same thing every time someone talks about how they won't pay a number for something like milk that is way less then I ever pay. My first thought is if that amount was too high for me that just means we would never buy it.

Lol...that is so true BeachBum! I think a lot of things are priced high here in OR because they are shipped from across the country (i.e cereal). Other things that are grown here (berries, fruit) are much more reasonable.
I've read a lot of bloggers who say one should never pay more than $1 for a box of cereal. Well, shoot, even with coupons, cats, doubles, the rock bottom price is usually $1.25 - $1.50 for me.
