Their policy says they won't take IP's for free items, but that they will gladly take other IP's, following the same rules as other manufacturer's coupons. I don't believe taking one coupon is really in compliance with the intent of the policy, so I think I will send a little email to their corporate office. Debinwa, I had a similar issue with SW here in Maryland about 2 years ago. I called customer service at corporate twice, they spoke with the store manager, and the problem was no more. So I'm happy now, fwiw. Hope you have similar results. finneme: thanks for your comment. I wrote a quick email to Safeway letting them know that the checker was very nice but that I thought she was given direction that ran counter to their policy. I hope it helps, but if not, there are other Safeways near me who will get my business. I'll cross my fingers though, because I'd rather the issue gets resolved for everyone.

Heads up for a coming Aldi deal. They will have whole, frozen chickens foe 0.69/lb next week. I KNOW some (Dancin) have done better recently but this is a REALLY good $ here.
Dancin I, too, tried to track my savings but got too confused as to the ‘base’ price. Did I use shelf or sale since I almost NEVER buy anything that is NOT on sale.
However, I totally agree that it is all about choices. Because I have chosen to use coupons very aggressively for more than 20 years, we have many more choices today than we would have otherwise. For example, IF DH gets laid off, it will not be the "ideal situation", but it won't be the end of the world either and he will not have to find another job. I personally fall into this group. I was unexpectedly laid off Aug 2010 and at (now) 65 my ‘expectations’ for finding another job are VERY low. I have couponed & stockpiled since I was wed (dark ages of 1969). I am making all my bills w/o going into savings except my real estate taxes on about 60% of what I was making.

Dancin: I must say, you helped me get through a very long day yesterday at work I went over to see the what all the fuss was about and managed to fritter away a couple of hours between calls. They always get my blood boiling! I am sure ** and **** (??) have a very comfortable lifestyle that they are accustom to. They have probably never had $20 left after getting paid and paying all the bills due or past due to feed their family, pets, clean and bathe. Not to mention put gas in the car to actually go to work to earn the paycheck. By my calculations, to fill up my car right now requires about 10% of my take home pay. It's depressing. **and ****can make room in their budgets by purchasing a lower grade of oil/vinegar and cheese and only affect their taste buds. They don't see the power of a coupon and the affect it can have on your family's comfort level. It is my job as wife and mother to provide for my family and my little slips of paper help me do that. It is most certainly more fun than working a part time job! It's not always easy and certainly not always convenient and yes I do invest time, but I find the value worth it.
Just my .02
moving on!

But you can score freebie Simply. There's a $1/1 (any size)Q on simply orange & also one for simply lemonade on coupons.com. The small bottles are on price drop for 99c (thru 9/10), so you can score them for free. Also a great deal on Glad bags. Spend $10, get $3 OYNO. Glad bags $6.99 (I normally buy the 80ct kitchen ones) 3 x KC Masterpiece BBQ Sauce $4.50 Less 3 x KC Qs (only 2 will double) (2.50) Less $1/2 KC Mealbox Q (1.00) OOP $7.99, get $3 OYNO That's $4.99 after CAT. Dancin: I've been enjoying reading your comments on YM. rubyslippers: Great job on the HPs!! As far as YM, I don't know what to say. I guess GG really cannot fathom how much money we save using coupons. She also can't believe that a person (such as me - dancinmama ;D ) would not keep track of their savings. Honestly, I tried to keep track a couple of years ago and I used soooo many coupons that it just got to be a real PITA to keep track of it all. If I had a blog like frugalsuz, I might be more inclined; but I figure that once I've done the transaction, used the coupons, and saved the money - recording it isn't going to change anything. Anyway, I called her out on constantly stirring the pot and that is what I will continue to do. She has her undies in a wad and needs to get over it. ;D OK, I love a good ...anyone care to post a link?

NO.. and all this CHILDISH behavior needs to stop- now.
Under everyone's avatar pic is a button that says IGNORE. If you are using the lean n mean version, it is a smiley with tape over it's mouth to the right of the user's name.
If you can't get along with someone, I expect you to use it. Petty complaints are ridiculous. And some of the "personal attacks" I'm seeing reported are, in my opinion, not. Just because someone expresses something negative about another poster doesn't necessarily make it an attack. It's when names are being called, especially, that I consider to be a valid complaint.
From the most recent update to the CoC: Addendum 2
Posters who choose not to use the IGNORE button for posters they do not care for should not expect moderators to be overly sympathetic to complaints that are not serious in nature. If there is a threat made, or a real personal attack, then yes we want to hear about it. If, however, you just don't happen to like them/ their point of view or feel like they are 'picking on you', we are probably not going to get involved.

Walmart: If anyone printed out Q's for Edy's slow churned milkshakes a couple of weeks ago, they are now reduced to $1.00. I got 4 of them free today, just in time for DH's birthday tomorrow.
I have a load of tomatoes from the garden and I'm going to make homemade spaghetti sauce in my crockpot to freeze for later. Free spaghetti sauce works for me!
Meijer: Tomorrow they have Campbells cream soup for $.75 a can and there are IPQ's for $1.00/5, which would make them $.55 a can. What do you ladies consider a good price for this?

Dancinmama: It makes no difference WHO the initiator is - it doesn't mean you should retaliate in kind. SL - Mod I'm sorry, but who the initiator is makes a BIG difference to me because I am NEVER the initiator. Are you and Moon telling me that gardeninggrandma is allowed to initiate negative comments about me while I am supposed to turn on my IGNORE button so that she is allowed to continue to do it? Her post #13 from 9/1 at 10:13 am (Financial Foolishness thread) where she calls me a braggart is still posted: "Heck, we have posters on here that say they don't have a budget - they don't need one because they are good with money. I don't understand how one can brag about how frugal they are when they don't even keep records...... " My post #30 from 9/1 at 2:03 pm (Grocery Challenge thread) where I caledl her a negative person has been deleted: "Her life must suck. I can't imagine being such a negative person." She is the antagonist; she is the initiator. She calls me a braggert and her comments remain. I call her a negative person; my comments have been deleted AND I have been personally and publicly scolded ""DM knock it off" (Post #53 from 9/2 at 6:21 pm I know that being moderators sucks at times like these and maybe I don't understand the CoC, but it seems as though both comments were equally offensive, yet mine is the only one that was deleted and I was the only one publicly admonished. If you as moderators TRULY want the childishness and this situation to stop, you are going to have to turn your attention to gardeninggrandma. She is ALWAYS the initiator; always the one that wants to continue stirring the pot. My preference is that she stops posting her snarky comments. In all sincerity, my preference is to , not Thanks. Anything that you can do to resolve the problem from BOTH sides, would be much appreciated. ETA: I see that The J did publicly admonish her on the other thread - my mistake.

Hey everyone, I think I will be finally out of the RA game this week. Checked the fliers and there is nothing that makes me want to go to the store. I have 2 Ups and Honey Nut cheerios are on sale. I have coupons for 1$ off and I will be buying that and wait until there is a great MM to step back in. I have not gone to Wags in a while , so will be holding on to some ECBs at CVS and that's it for now. If anyone has any recommendations on good refrigerators, please let me know. I am looking for stainless steel, 2 door, bottom freezer type ones. Thanks I like my Whirlpool Gold. It does not have a water or ice dispenser in the door because I did not want one as I notice that this is the first thing to break on a refrigerator, for instance, my refrigerator is a year old and looks brand new, my sister's refrigerator is 4 months old with a dispenser and you can already see wear on the touch panel for ice and water. Her refrigerator is frigidaire.......

For all you Wasabi lovers, they now have Wasabi popcorn and they carry it at Walmart. You might want to check your Walmart for it.

wasabi popcorn?? mmmm.... My DGMs current fridge is a Whirlpool and the one we had in the garage (it was the beer and crab fridge because she wouldn't let my grandfather and I keep liquor in the house) was a Maytag. Loved them both- the one before that was a Kenmore that died after 30 years of use and abuse. And the previous beer fridge was an actual Sear-Roebuck . The current whirlpool has in the door ice and water with a lock and light, side by side, tempered adjustable shelves, filter, yada, yada, yada. Nice fridge. My fridge in my house I had was a Kenmore side by side and I loved it too. I just wish I had water on the door with it.

I have a Kitchen Aid side by side with water and ice in the door that is about 19 years old. It's been fabulous-- no issues at all. What I don't like about it is that the freezer is so skinny that it's hard to get larger items in it. If I didn't have another freezer in the house, I would not like the configuration. I think next time I would go for a french door model with a freezer below.

Thanks everyone for the input on the various models - we are still looking and I am hoping to see a great sale during or just before Thanksgiving.
Debinwa, That's what I don't like about the side by side - I can just keep 10-12 pks of frozen veggies in one shelf. The bottom freezer ones seem to have much more space and that's why I have been thinking about that model.

If I had to buy again, I would not have our side x side. I really hated it before I got the chest freezer. I could never freeze as much as I wanted to. IA with Deb, I would do a French Door model if were buying a fridge. With the side x side you get a couple days of left overs and you have no room in your fridge.

IMHO on refridgerators. I do like my side x side but ONLY because I have a small chest freezer. You cannot fit a large Turkey in there and I like to purchase 2 extra for the winter to use. We have a Kenmore and the ice maker is acting goofy. Turned off the water and all is well now with it.

Saveinla: We have a Maytag that I got Black Friday last year. It isn't the 2 door type but it does have the bottom freezer and an icemaker, which I am so thankful for. I will be looking for a new freezer as the little chest one I have is too small. I am planning on purchasing a split side of beef and need more freezer space. Good luck with your purchase!
I am thankful for not having any coupons this week. It took me all of last week to cut, clip, sort and file about 5 weeks of inserts. That's the price I pay for being a binder girl. LOL.
Chickens for $.69 lb. is a good price. I've been buying rotisserie chickens on sale at Meijer for $4.99-2.00 IPQ and making stock with it. I like having containers of chicken and stock in the freezer.

Safeway Just4U
This is a savings program tied to your customer loyalty card at Safeway & affiliate stores. I just recently joined and tried it on a cheap item (donut) w/NO issues. Sat I bought 4 items I had tied to my card and NONE went thru right. I knew this because my total should have been just over $5 inc tax. Turned out to be 7.XX. KNEW this was WRONG so had cashier void & re-ring watching EVERY item and coupon individually. Saw the personal prices did NOT come off properly or, on 1 item, at all. The customer service supervisor made it all good or I would have just left the entire order (nothing was a major need it right now) and sent a stinging email to Safeway corp. I will NOT waste my time doing this program if it happens again.
Anyone else having issues?

HOUND ALERT Playtex $2/1 from the 8/14 SS It is a regional deal at Shoprite. Playtex Tampons 2.44 a 16-18 ct box. I looked at my 8/14 SS and didn't even get a playtex coupon. so I am not sure if it is a regional coupon or just because I live in the land of crappy coupons. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help. Teenage daughters are expensive!

Good deal! I did the Dove soap the last time so I'm sitting pretty good. I plan on doing the candy bars, Skintimate and carefree. I also heard there's a lot of good clearance items. We'll see how good when I go later today.

This sounds like the same deal as the Carmello bars a couple of weeks ago. I am STILL holding one of those CRTs waiting for them to restock the Carmello. This time I'll know to go in today to get the Milky Way.
