I have been to CVS a couple of times. I downloaded the save 25% off coupon from an email. It said not good on sales etc so I just forgot because I don't buy much that isn't on sale. But this week I bought 2 digiorno pizzas. They were $7.50 BOGO free. I had the coupon from last week. Truthfully $7.50 for 2 is a great price for them. $6.50 for two is fantastic. But when I left I had bought 2 using the $1 coupon and a 0.99 cent ecb and it gave me 25% off anyway and I paid $4.80 with tax for both pizzas.

Murpath I agree with you on EC. When Fry's was taking Fresh & Easy $5/20 coupons I was saving in the 95%+ range. Without that my sales trips are 90%+ and my normal shopping is 60-80%. I spend under an hour a week getting ready bc the deals haven't been great and the blogs do most of the work for me. So I can't imagine someone spending FULL TIME and getting hundreds of inserts to accomplish the same thing.
Did you see that moron who wants to stockpile to move to Hawaii? First, how is she going to get all that stuff to Hawaii? And second, 200 inserts a week? Really?
On a bright note, my firm donates to Homeward Bound and I made my donation today. I went through the stockpile at home. I didn't do any shopping for the donation and brought in LOADS of stuff (pastas, rice, oatmeal, crackers, soup, peanut butter, lotion, soap, feminine products, oral care, band aids, baby formula, and lots more). No idea what the "value" was as I waited until last minute and had to rush to get everything in the car before work.
eta: These items were included: (10) Carefree liners; (10) Deodorant men; (12) Safeguard 2 pks; (2) Dental floss; (2) Kotex lrg; (2) Lotions lrg; (2) Mac and cheese; (2) Pasta shells; (2) Ritz Crackers; (2) Similac formula; (2) peanut butter; (20) jello; (3) Lotion trial size; (3) Ramen; (4) Aspirin; (4) Linguine; (4) Rice a roni; (4) Soup; (4) Toothpastes sm; (6) Band-aids; (8) Toothpastes lrg; 12 Pack Cottonelle; Instant rice; Oatmeal; Pancake mix; Pasta roni.
I estimated the value at $208.75and I paid $23.00 or 89% savings.

I wondered about the Hawaii thing. I know the prices there are much higher, so you might do well to bring some items that you think are easy to carry when you know they will be unavailable or super expensive...but an entire stockpile? The cost of shipping all that stuff would eat up months worth of savings. Plus they will have regs about shipping liquids, aerosol cans, etc. She'd be better off finding a way to get good coupons delivered to Hawaii IMO.

ruby I'm certainly thinking that if the deals at RA/CVS/Wags really stall....that I'll do as you have and use the high value Q's at Walmart. Gonna have to seek the best price instead of the balance of price and reward(UPs, ECBs, RRs). Times is getting tough kidlets.... Skubikky: I was hoping to use a couple more of those coupons and pricematch Big Lots sale on All detergent for $4.00. Somewhere I read that they have it for that price and they said we had $2.00 MQ's. I only have $1.00 Q's, so I have to do some more thinking on that. Pecans are also on my Walmart overage wish list but I'd like to pricematch that with a good sale. hmmmm....I've never tried the price match thing at WM, but there's a Big Lots right near my WM. Might have to try that. Of course Big Lots doesn't take Q's...too bad.

I have one WM that will price match Big Lots and 2 others that won't of course the one that does has higher sales tax because it's in another county. YMMY.

dancinmama, I remembered your posts on the CVS broth. Guess what the CRT machine is giving out this week - Save 1$ on any 3 cans of gold emblem soup or broth

bluesclues and murphath: I think that we (the gals here on the Grocery Challenge) have proven that you do not have to shop the way that they do on EC to have awesome stockpiles of the products that your family uses on a regular basis - slow and sure over a period of time saves equally as well, if not better. I also agree that it is deceptive when they spend a lot of money on the coupons they use, but do not include that into the cost of the product that they bought. Maybe that is one reason why naysayers think that WE (those of us on this board that use A LOT of coupons) are disingenuous about OUR savings. bluesclues: That was an awesome donation that you made to Homeward Bound!!

That is what I was afraid of - that they would promote it. Oh well, we'll see how it goes. October 5th is the expiration date on the cans that I saw so I think I'll go in on the 3rd or 4th - don't want to give them too much time to discount it ahead of me. ;D

CVS: Yesterday I cashed out ECB on DH card to buy a box of spaghetti and earned $1.00 for greenbag tag, so I bought another one. I used a raincheck for Schick Hydra razors buy $20.00 get $10.00 ECB. They were $23.97 for 3 minus $4.00/20.00 minus $15.00 IPQ's minus $4.97 ECB's and I got $10.00 in ECBs's back. Not too bad getting 3 nice razors and 2 boxes of spaghetti for $.99 OOP. The greenbag tag has earned me $25.00 since I started using it. CRT machine is still spitting out the $1.00 off Reeses candy bars and next week they're on sale for $1.00.
Skubikky: Someone beat me to Walmart and cleared the shelf of those razors which were giving overage. I was all set to get 4 packs and 2 bottles of All detergent for free. We got the Big Lots flier and All is $3.00 this week minus the $1.00 MQ. At least the razor coupons have a longer expiration date than usual.

When I see something at a rock bottom price and I have no coupon I PRAY that the store runs out. ;D Keep up the good work.

This is what I bought. 7 cans maxwell house coffee $2.99 each 2 boxes capri sun juice boxes $2.28 each Total $25.49 paid and got back 4/$5 cats for future orders making them only cost $5.49 for all of them. Did I mention we really like our coffee?

MizBear-Happy belated birthday! Sorry I am a little late.
I feel like for me the deals have been worse in the past 6 months, and I still get some negative feedback from some cashiers asking if I'm one of "those" extreme couponers. But now that my new job has settled down and we've eaten our stockpile down a bit I am focusing on stockpiling again. We are moving in 2012 so I'm trying to be careful about what I stockpile, I do not want to move too many items or be overstocked on something I cannot move because of restrictions.

Hello all!! I get such lousy circulars in my home delivery paper. I subscribe to Cleveland Plain Dealer, although I live in a suburb with its own paper. I get a CVS ad, Target, Best Buy and Michaels, nothing else. I am looking for a good deal on a women's Pea coat for my daughter. She is growing up and wants something a little dressier this year. I do NOT need one ASAP, but if you see them on sale somewhere (Old Navy, Kohls, AE, JCP etc) would you mind letting me know? Thanks!

Okay, I'm really wondering now. What's up with the insert?? This week's inserts carried a CVS coupon insert. Does anyone see any value to it? The stores that I shop, because of the way they are printed will not accept them without drama, although they are "manufacturers" coupons. Stores now even question Catalina's that don't have their specific store noted on them! (in my area) I already have problems with manufacturers coupons without store "sale" prices prominently displayed for price match... Don't even get me started on price match! Safeway/Dominicks or Walmart. I don't mind a challenge, but EC can go away now...yep, now would be good. And, yes, I do put much of the blame on it. (Sorry, too many problems with stores where exactly there was no issue) Jewel/Albertsons with SS insert coupons, Dominicks/Safeway with IP's, All You, and SS. Meijer with RP.... This has been going on for the last couple of weeks. The shopping I've done is a couple of things here, a couple of things there..but gosh, I'm really tired of "item not found" and when I take the item out of the bag and say "It's found, would you please check again" It's getting really hard to keep a sense of humor. Venting. Thanks for listening.

Dogmom: What CVS insert? Was it supposed to be in the SS or RP? We didn't have it in either one of them. We did get a $1.00 Softsoap bodywash Q, which I used at Rite Aid this afternoon. Yes, I agree that that show is the cause of a lot of our current difficulties at the stores. I got the $20.00 UPs for buying the GUM on sale and am trying to put together a scenario to break it up.

I got the little cvs q insert too. If you get it, look carefully at the q's. Some are cvs store q's, others are Manu q's, but the way they have cvs plastered all over them, it could be a problem using them elsewhere, especially at stores that are now scrutinizing every word and picture on a coupon.

rubyslippers,
It's a small 2 page ad with coupons to be used at CVS. They seem to be manufacturer coupons. There was also a one page flier for Loreal haircare at Walgreens. Those seem to be walgreens coupons, even though they say Manufacturer on them.

Anyway, I told her that I HATED it and she was shocked. I explained to her that I felt it was more about making money and making people out to look like greedy whackadoos than it was a show that would actually be helpful to people. The fact that TLC has signed on for another season means the problems for us will probably continue for at least a few months to come.
