We have done more in the last 100 years than we have since time started.

I agree Ty! U gotta let me think about space! Think about the things we might be able to do with minerals from the moon! I typed this on my blackberry because I couldn't sleep and wanted to see if the site works on it. 10 yrs ago this was nothing but a dream to think a tiny phone would do this!!

Makes you wonder what is coming next. I was your age in 1988. Cell phones did not take pictures, no MP3s, no GPS, I can't even guess the changes to come ( Not Decoy Changes) in technology.

kman there was an issue of Time at the start of Dec about the last decade. Ipod 2001. The mp3 was nothing before winamp. Which was 1999. I hear you about changes. IMO, the next 10+ yrs we are going to see a lot more implementation. There will be innovation no doubt, I just think that a lot of things can be implemented that we have, and I see that as a really cool area to watch. We need more efficient ways to transport things, and maintain things. People control their houses with their ipones. Voice control is coming to cars, it's going to be cool! wxyz, it was called the startac. The big old grey phone was a classic. Zack Morris had one of those!! It's too bad that you see our liberties vanishing over the next 50 years. The way I see it the govt has had the ability to watch us all it wants for a very long time. That change your talking about is going to make it so that more than 15% of the worlds population gets to enjoy the freedoms that we expect and love. IMO Robotics in health care will be huge. I have seen robotic suits that people wear that gives them the ability to lift 200 lbs. There are just some amazing things being done right now in that field. Other things that will be huge are recycling and bio-plastics(bio industry). We need to find a ways to use the garbage we produce to make things. We also need to use things that we can grow like algae, to make fuels, for obvious reasons. These are unavoidable facts of life. Lots of work being done in these field as well. The future is friendly

Robotics...telemedicine...Something I am familiar with....The Military is and has been way ahead of the tech curve. It is now a question of payment from the insurers.
I don't know about you...but I would be more likely to visit my Doctor from the comforts of my living room, than a waiting room.
Amazing stuff! A surgical theater can be set up in 15 minutes and a remote surgery can take place from 6000 miles away...seen it with my own eyes.Long story..but I was involved in this years ago , when my sons mother worked on this. I was invited to be part as an entrepreneur. The name of the game now ..is reimbursement. I would say , we are about ten years away from this being an everyday reality.

The things your talking about kman, exactly what I'm saying. There is all of the holographic stuff out there. Electronic paper, motion controls, VR, the list goes on. I think we have finally hit the point where the cost structure is there so we can apply the bigger ideas that haven't been realized yet to everyday life and make it so it works for us! As an aside, I have to say bro, you have lived one interesting life, and I can imagine that the surface has only been scratched.

Remote exams, surgery, and host of other procedures could be performed. The military is not subject to the issues the private sector is. This technology is used daily.
The cost of health care would be drastically reduced if telemedicine was incorporated into the lives of civilians.

I've also run across that telemedicine that kman is talking about. A lot of interesting possibilities there.
On an airplane, if there is no doctor on board, they put a headset on a flight attendant, hook them up to a doctor on the ground, then the flight attendant tells the doctor what they see, pulse, patient response, all that, and the doctor gives instructions back. Simple really.
The video exam from miles away is a whole different thing, much more technology involved.

Early 80's had a Ag Commodities Co and bought one of the first Mac's. We had it hooked up with the University of Nebraska's main computer that got all of the Worlds offers on any Ag product and we downloaded them just as fast as the Government did. We knew what was pending before anybody else did. It was great. What was funny was it only cost $100.00 a year for the service.

wxyz, I never had the opportunity to use a startac . The first cell I used was one of those Motorola bag phones that sat in the car. You had to have an exterior antenna. I remember installing that thing with my dad, ahh the times. Health care is going to be a major industry to watch. What was the number on that Mac Ty?

China is starting to release Yuan bonds to select investors, If that catches on their currency should take off and level the playing field a bit more.

Dude, there's like 3 billion more mouths to feed. That's a lot of bread and milk! I was reading a report that said that food production would have to increase by 70% by 2050 to keep up with demand! Good thing there is lots of farmland in Africa that still is undiscovered!!
