Hey All! One of the things I've missed the most since the migration from MSN is the lack of articles regarding personal finance. I always liked to read so I could learn something and discuss it with y'all here! With permission from a colleague of mine, Manisha Thakor, I'll be posting some of her articles here (excerpts only with links). Feel free to add your own favorite articles and links or start a new thread so we can keep learning! Here's two that Manisha and I picked out specifically for the WIR: "SEVEN SAVINGS MYTHS - BUSTED!" Personal finance expert for women, Manisha Thakor, debunks some of the most common fallacies when it comes to saving money. manishathakor.com/saving-money/7-savings-myths-busted/(check it out if you're in the WIRS group or thinking of increasing your savings) "ARE YOU ON FINANCIAL TRACK?" Read some useful age-based guidelines to help you see if your finances are on track. manishathakor.com/spending-money/are-you-on-financial-track/

YOUR MONEY OR YOUR LIFE is my absolute all time favorite personal finance book. I'm so with you! Following up on my chat with the uber sweet Smartstart, here's a link to another blog post I wrote about "lifestyle creep" that you all might enjoy. ARTICLE: THREE SIGNS YOU ARE SUFFERING FROM LIFESTYLE CREEP
"Not to be confused with "Keeping up with the Joneses," lifestyle creep is yet one more thing to watch out for on the quest to live within your means." manishathakor.com/spending-money/3-signs-you-are-suffering-from-lifestyle-creep/I am so impressed with what you all at WIR are doing post-MSN. I'd love to write a blog post about it. Your determination and dedication to get on top of your personal finances would inspire so many people. Go WIR!

Shenandoah added this to the WIR West thread and I thought it was worth repeating here: I just thought you ladies might be interested in this article money.msn.com/credit-rating/escap.....aspx?gt1=33001 Among other things it says: "U.S. consumers have reduced debt by more than $1 trillion in the 10 quarters ended in March, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York."

<<"U.S. consumers have reduced debt by more than $1 trillion in the 10 quarters ended in March, according to the Federal reserve bank of New York.">> I was reading on the Market Talk board, that a lot of that reduced debt was from bankruptcy discharges. Not from the consumers ability to pay all the time. Not most of it, but a lot of it. Bankruptcy filings have been rising steadily over the past few years.
