Mizbear, I could use Fusion razors from this week if you have extras.
Reverse hound alert: Ensure B1G1 and $2 - they expire 8/7

How do you guys handle depletion of stockpile? With my houseguests, it has gone way down and made me very and . The part is because they think just because there's a lot of something they can use unlimited amounts. Last week I went on vacation and there were 6 Bounty PT that I hounded. Five days later, NONE. And I hounded baby wipes for months. In the month they've been here, they went through 6 containers! WTH? Give your kid a bath instead of using unlimited wipes after every meal or outing. 16 twelve packs of soda gone in about 2 weeks. We had a long talk where I explained even though I got the wipes for example free, now that I have none and need some, I need to go pay $4 a tub for them. NOT COOL. Then on the side, I just don't like seeing the stock and all that hard work disappear. I know I should be happy I had it to use. But still, my closets look so bare. Blue: That sounds like torture!! Are there other people there besides your niece and her baby? I thought it was just the two of them, but she couldn't drink 16 packs of pop could she? Yikes. I would feel the same way as you with regard to using your stockpile like that. I kind of hate using paper towels just because I find it wasteful, even if they're free. When we go on vacation, we have a house sitter stay with our pets, and he must use paper towels for everything, because he goes through TONS of them. Our grown kids shop our stockpile, and I'm happy to have them do so, but we do hide a few of our 'prime' items to keep for ourselves. Sometimes I feel a little guilty, but not for long! I stopped at Rite Aid for another Fusion razor yesterday, plus a couple of other items. Did two transactions and got two surveys! I haven't had one in a couple of weeks! I went to a store that is a bit out of the way and seems to be struggling. I hope they know how to give me the coupon at my store when I am ready to use it...

Dancin – I seem to be ok with anything in the Garnier Fructis line and I haven't had any problems with Pantene. Bath products tend to be a crapshoot though, my Mom used to get Avon skin so soft stuff, which is supposed to be hypoallergenic, and it made me break out head to foot. It annoys my stylist, but I bring my own styling products on the rare occasion that I have my hair cut/styled. Deodorant is a little easier, so long as they have an unscented version in a stick or gel formula – no sprays or liquids.

Both of those brands go on sale and have been free in the past at the various drug chains, so let us know when you need Qs to stockpile. Also, keep your eyes peeled for clearance at the drug chains. Whenever the manufacturer changes their packaging or sizing of a product, the drug chains clear out the old to make room for the new. The deodorant ought to be fairly easy too. I have been able to get several different brands for free that have been unscented in stick form. Patience is the key. Since you are well aware of how quickly you go through these items, just buy the bare minimum when you see them "on sale" and wait very patiently for the freebie deals to come around; then GO FOR IT.

I don't know if this question has already been asked and answered, but here goes~ On the back of the RA ad, it says $10 UP WYB $30 of P & G. Now is that just the P & G stuff that they have listed on the back, or can I buy Crest Mouthwash at 4/$20, a Proglide Razor, and a bottle of Dawn to spend just over $30? That would be SO bloody awesome. Let's see, that would be a $10 UP, a $10 SCR, another $5 UP, use some MQ's....Dang, it's too early for this. Also, I have extra P & G booklets, so if anyone needs anything, give a holler!

debinwa You will not be able to get a 3/15 for the surveys you just received. July 26th was the last date for the 3/15. Any receipts after that may have a survey printed, but, if you look closely, it does NOT offer a coupon if/when you do it. Sorry Any coupons with survey attached, dated 7/26 (or within 14 days prior) will be offered the $3 coupon at the register...

I have even tried the file system, but I like having all my coupons with me when I shop just in case I run across a good deal,,, Guess I want my free cake and eat it too !!!! Okay, I missed this. IF you frequently find great clearance buys, that is a totally different story. I guess I'm a little bit lucky that I don't find a lot of clearance. Dancin, I'm just curious. What do you do when you get extra coupons, not inserts, from stores or friends? I've tried organizing coupons both ways but still come back to the binder. Right now I have a stack of 4 inserts, 8 booklets and a big envelop of coupons from a friend. After cutting my inserts, I'll separate coupons into 4 little baskets to file: grocery, beauty, household and medicine. I then take each basket to my binder to file. I have a friend from out of state, and when we talk on the phone, it's easy for me to purge old coupons or file new. If I can't get to the filing right away, the baskets stack until I'm ready.

But if you do the Crest Rinse and the Oral B TB that are part of the SCR, you will get the 5$ Oral Care Up. HTH

I also found the binder method to be too time consuming. For those of you struggling with missing out on a good clearance find, how are your current stockpiles? I used to feel the same, especially since I do 90% of my shopping on my lunch or right after work. I live 15+ miles from all of the stores but they are all in the same city I work in. It is a little disappointing to find a killer clearance deal, KNOW you have coupons for it, and not be able to do the deal, but, I found this to be less and less of an issue as my stockpile grew to the point I really don't NEED anything. I can go back the next day, or later that week, and if it's there, it's there, if not, there will ALWAYS be another deal. That's just my 2 cents... I do almost always have my coupons in the car, dated and stacked in a reusable shopping bag. If I REALLY want to, I can go out to the car, look for the coupon and go back in the store. I have before, but not that often. As far as what to do with clipped coupons that you get, I carry 2 small accordian files in my purse. One has dividers for RA, CVS and Wags and I keep clipped coupons for upcoming deals, rewards, and rain checks in this file. The second file is a little bigger, and I have this one separated in different shopping categories, HBA, pets, frozen foods, dairy, cereal, beverages, etc. This is what I use to keep track of tear pad Q's, peelies, clipped Q's I have gotten, IP's, or Q's that I have clipped, as I will often clip Q's from my inserts for products I use regularly and/or know that there are frequents deals on (ex. Reach, Listerine, Colgate, Crest, OTC meds, etc.) It's not a perfect method, but, it works for me right now.

blues- HUGS! When we moved in with DGP 21 years ago (time flies when you're growing up) when my parents divorced (father was abusive and manipulative to bring out his finer points), we would have NEVER thought to behave like that. Maybe part of mine was because I was always from birth raised off and on by my DGP but still- geesh! And yes- I have put Do not touch and name labels on food before. Unapologetically. Still going through my dog food coupons. Some had expired- but I am looking to see if there are any this week because DB gave me almost a dozen insert pacs. I have received a large pile (10 or 12 in fact) inserts from DB this week. Please someone send me the Hound Alerts. HOUND ALERT: If you are not going to use the BOGO Skinny Cow snack bar Q's I would love to have them. Message me if you need my address. TIA

I still clip- but I have started doing an excel sheet again of the coupons (not done yet) and I file mine by type- so if Blues asks for Fusion razors- I go under HBA and grab the razor coupons. Or if kathy asks for Skinny Cow I look under diet snacks. If dancin asks for hot tamales- I look under regular snacks . If leanna asks for allegra- that's under medications. Sounds like a lot of fuss but it helps when my mom discovers she needs a coupon that doesn't automatically go into the shopping folder (I have an accordion folder coupon things) that is just for me, DM, and DGM- plus DB if he asks for something. If it is something I know we use- it automatically goes in there- like the deodorants that we use and my nieces favorite bunny rabbits.

I spent a lot of time doing that when people would give me their inserts. What a wonderful discovery!! Duh!!!

Kathy, I would do the same thing, sit at the computer and enter each coup. on HCW and then file, sometimes the sheets would be loose so I have no idea which insert they belong in,...will still have to do that with the loose ones but the whole inserts will be soooo much easier to file... I tell you what, I am sitting here at work and my co workers prob. think I am crazy cause I have hollored right out when I found out this little tidbit !! I sooo wanna go home and file !!! Crazy isnt it!!

Dancinmama: Your chicken recipe sounds very good--something akin to a tuna casserole except with chicken, right? ;D I make a really good Asian chicken salad which is pretty inexpensive. Here goes:
1 pkg. Mann's broccoli slaw (I've found this at Raley's==usually @ .98 pkg and I buy when I have $1/2 peelies) 2 c. cooked/diced chicken (no skin) 1 c. diced mango 1/2 c. green pepper (or whatever color you like) 1/2 c. slivered almonds The dressing is: 1/4 c. each rice vinegar, sweet chili sauce (found in Asian food aisle) 1 tbsp. each: soy sauce (I use the lower sodium kind) and sesame oil Mix everything together, chill for 15-20 minutes and enjoy! It's so yummy served with french bread.
Here's another: Chicken and Cheese Stuffed Portabella Mushrooms 2 portabella mushrooms, stems removed 1 cup diced/shredded chicken 2/3 c. shredded Mozarella cheese (I add a little parmesan, too) 1/4 c. sliced green onion 2 tbsp. sun dried tomato spread 1 tsp Italian seasoning. Preheat over to 450. Mix stuffing ingredients and spoon equally into mushrooms. Bake for 12-15 minutes until cheese is melted.
Portabellas are expensive, as you know, but I got two of them for free from Raley's last week so made the above with leftover chicken, cheap or free cheese, etc. The sun dried tomato paste is pricey, too, but I originally made these for a gal's luncheon at my house so it was worth not spending all that money at a restaurant, which is what we used to do until I suggested alternating lunches at home instead. So much fun.

I wanted to run a deal senerio by everyone. It is local to Shoprite so I know everone here doesn't have them but I figured I could list the details and maybe someone might see if it sounds like it could work. Deal #6 buy 6 of a list of things including marcal TP, tissues, and folgers coffee get a $5 cat. It stacks and rolls up to 4 cats in a transaction. Deal #9 buy 3 splenda get $3 cat. Deal #2 buy 10 hunts get $3 cat. And Bic Soleil disp razors are onsale this week for $4.99 but with an additional $10 puchase it takes off $2 in a price plus coupon making it $2.99 with a limit of 4 per transaction. The Tp you must buy in multiples of 4 to get the price and the tissues you can't buy more than 4. And last a limit of 4 cats for the same deal per transaction. So here goes. Deal senerio 8 rolls TP $6.00 4 bx tissues 3.96 3 bx splenda 12.00 10 hunts pudding 4 packs 10.00 4 Bic disp soliel razors 11.96 Total b-4 tax 43.92 Minus 3 $3 splenda MC $9 total, 4 $3 Bic razor MC total $12 Total coupons $22 for a final after MC of $22.92 and I would get 2 $5, and 2 $3 cats totaling $16 for a final OOP $6.92. Does this look right to anyone? I know I could get it lower by not getting the pudding and instead using a filler like the notebooks that are on sale this week for .25 cents but I will need the pudding for school lunches and it still makes it less than my rock bottom price for them of .88 cents a 4 pack.

Re coupon organizing:I think everyone has to do what works for them. I do have a filing cabinet drawer that is divided into two sections: one for RP and the other for SS. Each section has a file for January through December. There's a single file holder in the middle which is for P&G and other misc. q's. Like everyone here, I write the date on the first page and then file. I have the same problem as the OP as my inserts can be in different order as they come from various papers. The Chronicle is the best so I usually write "Chron" on the front of those so I know the q will definitely be in that one. It's a "carp" shoot if the particular q will be in the others. If I am going to definitely be using a q in an insert, I will clip it and keep it in small plastic accordian file thingie. That, as well as my CVS, RA, Target, WAGS, and Walmart envelopes are always in my canvas bag which my DH calls "mission control" or "command central". It's not heavy and I bring it in with me. My envelopes contain the q's, EB's, UP's, Store specific q's, (i.e. Target). But if a deal goes south because the store is out of stock, I can usually come up with a good scenario using some q's from my plastic thingie. If not, I get a raincheck, plop it into that store's envie, and go on my merry way. As for IP q's, if I KNOW I will use it, I print it. I've tried waiting until a deal comes along, but then when I go back, the q's have disappeared or they've run out of them. I usually don't have to toss too many expired q's that I've clipped. I try to cull my plastic holder at least once a month--usually while watching t.v. in the evening. So there it is--it may not be the best method out there, but it works for me.

If a booklet comes out at Safeway, I keep the booklet whole just as I do the Sunday inserts and only clip what I need when I need it. If I have a VERY IMPORTANT COUPON - like a coupon for a free item that comes in the mail, I have a bulletin board that I will put it on to keep it separate from all other coupons. When I post on the other threads that discuss couponing and claim that it doesn't need to take a lot of time - I really mean it. As much as I love the savings and getting a good deal, I'd much rather be enjoying my home rather than clipping and filing coupons and shopping. Anything that I can do to minimize the time I spend couponing is time that I can then spend doing other things that I want to do. I know that I can get pretty assertive with my suggestions and ideas about what works and doesn't work for me regarding the use of coupons, but please remember that everything that I post is only intended to be a SUGGESTION. I realize that what works for me might not work for everyone.

Mizbear you've got mail. Deb it's my father, sister, niece and her baby. Freezing: we cam freeze milk, correct? Original package? How long? Non-fat milk freezes well. For some reason, anything with fat in it does not. I have kept it for a month past the expiration date with no problem. I have never tried to keep it frozen before using it long term. What I find works for me the best is to use regular milk for drinking and dry milk for cooking. The dry milk is not that much cheaper, but it is good to have in an emergency AND if you use it for cooking you end up not having to run to store for drinking milk quite as often. HTH

[/quote]

[quote author=dancinmama board=wir thread= rubyslippers: I have a "coupon drawer" that holds all of my loose coupons: peelies, blinkies, hangtags, etc. I rarely print IPs before I will use them. If I post a hound alert, it is for a coupon that I already know that I will be using. If a booklet comes out at Safeway, I keep the booklet whole just as I do the Sunday inserts and only clip what I need when I need it. I was just curious because I had a big stack of inserts, booklets and loose coupons and was wondering if there was an easier way for me to organize. I have all mine clipped and sorted now but still need to file. When I shop, I have to go out of town so everything has to come with me. DH calls my binder "Big Bertha"and I've regretted it too many times when I've left it at home. I have a clutch like Constanz described with coupons for each store deal that I bring into the store. I hate carrying the binder in but it's easy if I have to go out to the car to grab a coupon. I think your suggestions are good and agree everyone has to do what works for them.

That's just my 2 cents... constanz: Based on my own personal experience, I agree 100%. I think it depends, however, on what each person does with their stockpile. Someone who resells excess stockpile items might be more interested in picking up free or really cheap items that are clearanced that they know are really good "sellers". I can't speak to this personally because I have never done it, but it shows why having quick and easy access to ALL coupons might be more important for some than it is for others. I have always shopped based on our own personal needs and have always donated the excess. Even when the WAGs that I shopped at was in the next town over, I did not tend to drag all my coupons with me. Yes, there were times when I missed out on clearance; but I was able to get most everything that we needed/used without it, so it did not really bum me out. In the last YEAR I have found ONE good clearance deal at my WAGs (now only three minutes from my home) that was a huge benefit to us. I was able to get Sudafed PE (the ingredients matched Walmart's generic EXACTLY which had been the ONLY product that worked for DH). I ran home, checked to see if the ingredients matched, checked the data base and clipped my coupons, and went back and bought $50 worth for $1 - sales tax only on (10) boxes @ $1 per 24 count box.

Well slap me silly and call me Shirley !!! In all my years of couponing,, and that would be 20+ I NEVER knew the dates were right there on the dang things !!! Thank you thank you thank you Dancin and whoever else let me in on that little secret!!! You are forever karmalized in my eyes !!! And good timing too, one of my donors dropped off a baggie with July's inserts.. SO you know the first thing I did was check the spine and sure enuf, there were the dates...I marked them, and when I get home they are going in my milk crate files,,, I still like the thought of having my coups with me in the store, so I may clip one insert to carry, and have the rest in my car just in case,,,Will have to do a spreadsheet of somesort so I will know what I have in my files,,,This is just wonderful news !!! Thanks again !!! Try printing from taylortown preview or another source which has all of the coupons, values, and expiry dates listed by insert and date.

No, Dancin I didn't think you were too assertive or anything. rubyslippers: What I posted was more of a general disclaimer rather than a comment directed specifically to you.

HTH Is 2% considered non fat enough for you to freeze? Fry's has a good deal 4 cereals $10 minus Qs and get 2 free gallons. I did it last night but was going to go back for more today if I can freeze the milk. It would be used within a month. Also, do you have to open it and pour a little out?
