On behalf of suzi and all of the gals here, WELCOME, WELCOME, WELCOME to the Grocery Challenge from me - dancinmama!! If you have never clipped a coupon, or even if you have been using coupons for years, we'd love to have you join us. We are a crazy, fun-loving, and very friendly group of gals just chatting with one another about how to save big money using coupons. We are willing to help anyone, at any level, in any way that we can. Don't think that you have to read through the pages and pages of posts to join in - most of it will be old, out-of-date information anyway. Just go to the last page of the thread and introduce yourself. Tell us what area of the country you're from and where you shop (grocery stores, national chain stores, Target, WalMart, etc.). We'd love to have you join us on a regular basis, so don't be shy - just jump right in, have some fun, and save a ton of money in the process!! NEWBIES/OLDIES: If you post a HOUND ALERT requesting coupons from others, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE also post which insert/where the coupon can be found (Example: 1/2 SS) so that we can find it easily without having to research it ourselves. ALSO, if you need the coupon for a specific deal, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE try to remember to post the deal with your HOUND ALERT so that someone who may have the coupon(s) can decide whether they want/need to do the deal before sending out any of their coupons. THANKS!! POSTING ABOUT A DEAL / HOT COUPON: Some people get overwhelmed by the number of posts and only have time to skim the posts for the information that they need the most. If you are posting a deal, please post something that makes it stand out like "CVS DEAL ALERT" or if you are posting to tell us that there is a new, hot coupon available, please post something like "$3/1 WHOLLY GUACAMOLE IP ALERT". We want to make this thread as fun, friendly, and helpful as possible. These suggestions will save EVERYONE a lot of time when they are trying to "catch up" and read through past posts. Now let's have fun!!

I have a couple interesting CVS thoughts and observations...wondering if others have noticed this. 1. I don't think that EB's that are force printed (like when you redeem a raincheck) are tied to your card. I could be wrong, cuz I know they scan your card prior to printing the EB, but I had a $7 EB that had been force printed a couple weeks ago, and when looking at my ExtraCare Account online, it does not show this EB....Interesting...and I just spent it today so I can't even check to see if it has the card number on it. ... I know they ask for the card before they force print the EB. But it's not tied to the card sometimes. Sometimes it has my name on it and sometimes it doesn't. Love those bc then I can decide if using it on DBF's card is better. It must be something they do manually and sometimes forget??

NAG
On Youtube google "Traverse City Lip Dub official" and view the film we made here in TC. It was 100 degrees that day and after 4 takes everyone had had it besides two trips from the ambulance for people with heat exhaustion. I am in it. Then after you watch that google Clark Retirement Community Lip Dub official as this is in a retirement home and it is fantastic. I guarantee you will love them. message me with your comments and if you like them, pass it on for other's enjoyment.
Had our Traverse City Film Festival (ending today) and I went this a.m. to see Bill Cunningham New York. It was absolutely fantastic. A documentary on Bill who is now 80 and for probably 40+ years he has ridden his bike (29th bike, 28 were stolen) around NYC taking photos of fashion. I can't wait to find out more about him. If you get a change to see it, you must.
P.S. I just googled Bill and it shows a trailer of the film and you can pre-order it. Do yourself a favor and watch the trailer.

Rite Aid ?: Since Rite Aid discontinued the survey Q's, has anyone had any luck getting the survey receipts redeemed?

Deal at RA for week starting 7/31 - J&J $10 Up WYB $ 30 of products. - If you store will allow multiple InAdQ and you have the 3$ or 5$ Bengay Qs, then combine it with the 2$ off IAQ and buy 5 of the Bengay creams. If you have 20% discount then you may have to buy 6 of them. You just need to pay tax and you get a 10$ Up.
My store will not allow multiple IAQs, so I have to do each transaction separately. Have 14.47 so far after buying 3 of the creams.

Ok Finally hear from the catalina people! They sent my info to fullfiment and they should process it in 6 to 8 weeks! Are they kidding? WTH! the coupons were not even good for that long. I have a question for you all, if they are going to give me what I am owed what do they do send out coupons with current dates? I have never done this before.

I'm very interested to see if the Cottonelle deal will work at WAGS. I'm going to send my DBF in the morning and have him try it. (I'm working nights and have to sleep during the day - this shift stinks for Sunday morning shopping) I tried that Catalina site last night, but it kept crashing every time I clicked on anything. Anyhow, I hope it goes smoothly. I only like to ask him to do the simple deals because, well ... because he's a guy.

Received my FREE Panteen Q in the mail for any one Pantene Shampoo or Conditioner in the mail.
What do you think about the inserts this week? One of the two RP inserts of 12 pages had ONE Q in it!! Not overly thrilled with the P&G either. Had two BOGO Q's but not for the same product.

Hi all, Haven't posted in a while, but just checking in. I showed up at my WAGS 5 minutes after it opened, the shelf was completely wiped out of Cottonelle . This was a store that I could waltz into at 3pm on a Sunday afternoon and guarantee that all the items I wanted would be there with NO ONE in the store. The past month or so it's been chaos; I'm blaming TLC for this one.

Hi! East coast hound reporting from NC: Got 2 Cottonelle at WAGS today, used the $1 Q in the WAGS Q book and 2 75 cent Q's . OOP $6.50 plus tax and got back $3 RR. Rolled the $3RR into the Pampers diapers and used the (2) $2 off Pampers Q's from today's PGs and the $2 Q from the WAGS infant care booklet. Cashier wanted to take the Q out of the infant care booklet! I was about to fight her for it. She was nice though and she got distracted by another employee that needed help so she just gave me the book with the Pampers Q still in it and winket at me. Either she lost interest or was deterred by the fire in this pregnant hound's eye!

nickyleey: I just read on HCW that someone tried it and it didn't work for them. Hmmmm.....
I'm just going to go in and tell them up front that some areas are getting the RR and some aren't and that if I don't get it, I'll be returning the Cottonelle.
I thought the RR was supposed to be $3.50 when you bought (2) and $4.50 when you bought (3), so that seems to be a little off too.
In addition, I was under the impression that the WAGs coupon would take off $1/ea. according to what was posted in the HCW wiki. I might just skip it. There will HOPEFULLY be another FREE TP deal before my stockpile is depleted.

I just wrote up a huge post and then lost Internet and couldn't post it. Here I go again... I used to post on here as Angel33. Anyway, I haven't posted in a few months because we were in the middle of a move to Kansas. We are now here and finally settled in. Now I need to get my grocery bill under control. Groceries here seem to be more expensive than what I was paying in Michigan. Milk is about $1.00 more a gallon. I also do not have very many stores near me at all. I have the commissary, but the quality of food is horrible. The meat looks very close to spoiled. The produce is not much better. I know..I know..I am high maintenance. The other stores I have available (that I have found so far) are Wal-mart and Hyvee. I would prefer not to shop at Wal-Mart because I despise that store. I really really like Hyvee, but it is a drive. I will have to take coolers and do big shopping trips. Does anyone else on this thread do that? How do you make it work? I am used to running to the store at least 3 times a week to buy more fresh produce. That isn't going to be something I can do here. Anyone on this thread in Kansas? How do I go from shopping several days a week to doing it only every 2 weeks or so? We do have food sensitivities and therefore we do not eat boxed/prepared foods, frozen meals, or most canned vegetables. We will eat frozen veggies, canned sauces, canned tomatoes, and some canned beans. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Rite Aid ?: Since Rite Aid discontinued the survey Q's, has anyone had any luck getting the survey receipts redeemed? rubyslippers, My store manager was not there and the associate that works on Sunday morning is a PITA. But I told her that they could price modify one item and she agreed to that. It messed up my total on the J&J transaction, but I was more interested in the Crest Rinse. So here's what you can do, if they won't subtract 3$ as RAQ. Get something price modified, but make sure it's not anything that counts for the Ups or SCRs. HTH I had 2 survey Qs, but she said she was fraid and would do only 1. I agreed to that and told her that I would be back on Monday when the regular store managers are in.

I haven't tried using the survey Q yet at RA either. I probably will try tomorrow and will go to the store that has my favorite manager, who usually knows what's going on. Will let people know how it went...

blues- Will check my dog food q stash- the person who was supposed to take them to the Humane Society here never picked up. Will PM you the list tomorrow.
Angel- Do you have room for a chest or upright freezer? I don't know much about Hyvee, but I have had great luck at my local grocer hitting frozen veggie sales. I was thinking maybe if you have one, you could stock up when prices are rock bottom (here, that's about $1/12-20 oz bag) to help offset costs. I also am beginning to try and avoid Wal-mart and other large chains. We are losing local stores left and right. We used to go to Sam's and cooler shp bulk product when I was in high school. My mom and grandmother took coolers and ice packs or bought ice at Sams when it was hot outside. They packed the coolers out- making sure not mix things like uncooked meats with veggies or milk and cheese (but you already know that). We tried to make our lunch stop beforehand and would just snack on the way back (DGM is diabetic). Everything was put away as soon as we got home. If you have a local ethnic store, you may want to try them. There are some coupons available for organic/ natural foods such as eden, cascadian farms, etc. If you go to FB or to their websites you may be able to land additional coupons.
One last thing-
I think it absolutely stinks that the government can't put decent quality food in a commisary after all the sacrifices our military and their families make for us!!!!!
I'll get off my soapbox now-

My guys also will eat Pedigree, Purina, etc. I haven't seen any wonderful deals lately, but I'll keep my eyes peeled.

Mandyms: Sorry you didn't get the Cottonelle at Wags today. I know what that feels like when you are expecting to get a certain deal & don't get it. Nickyleey: Congratulations on getting your coupon book back! LOL - don't mess with a pregnant chick! DancinMama: The CAT does sound odd, but it IS accurate. $3.50 wyb 2, and $4.50 wyb 3. ImaAngel: It's not just where you moved to...food and household prices have skyrocketed recently. A number of us have commented on this issue recently. As MizBear mentioned, there have been a number of frozen veggie sales this past year. I got quite a number of bags FREE. Perhaps someone might know of a blog that is regional that would be helpful for ya. Besides that, I would say we all post deals as we find 'em so just keep checking in. MizBear - Are you back? I was saying good things about you in last month's thread. I was doing backflips because of the coupons you gave me!

Mizbear: No offense to ImaAngel, but our commissaries down south are generally fantastic. My only complaint is they sell ground beef that is not identified by the cut, which usually means it contains fascia, and other unwanted cuts. Otherwise, the chicken is tyson, the other beef such as steaks, roasts, etc are well packaged and fresh as is the fruit and veg. Maybe angel's is well picked over as people are trying to save more money and shopping the commissary more. This good service has been true of the Ft. Benning commissary, the Gulfport SeaBee Commissary, Keesler's Commissary, Pensicola and Milton's commissary. The commissary only makes 10% above cost and present a wonderful savings to our military and their families. *descending from soap box now*

COTTONELLE RR PRINTING IN NORTHERN CA AT WAGs
Well, after vacillating back and forth on the Cottonelle deal, I decided to do it. The $1 WAGs Q took off $2 so that was a positive thing. My $.75/1 Cottonelle MCs beeped. They wouldn't scan and they wouldn't go through when they entered the codes manually either. Finally they just forced them by entering them as manufacturer's coupons. And the RR printed just fine.
Then I used the RR and bought (8) of the Coffeemate using the $1/2 WAGs coupon and (6) $.50/1 IPs and (2) $.55/1 IPs. The register took off $4 for the WAGs coupon with no problems, but then did not want to take the IPs either and the cashier had to force those too.
I am wondering if the cash register is no longer allowing us to stack a WAGs coupon with a manufacturer's coupon. I looked at both of the WAGs coupons (very quickly) and did not see anything about it being a manufacturer's coupon.
In any case, stacking them might be YMMV.

murphath: I just wanted to say thank you again for sending the Fresh Express Salad Kit coupons. I have purchased (8) so far and plan to keep buying them through Tuesday to use up my $1/5 coupons. I warned DH that we'll be eating A LOT of salad over the next 10 days (the ones I bought today expire 8/10). Unfortunately, salad is NOT one of those things that you can normally use much past the expiration date. The chicken Caesar (with chicken, cheese, and croutons included) was VERY good and I didn't come close to using all the dressing that was provided (even though it's salad, I'm watching my girlish figure ). Normally, $4.99; but just $.50 with the $1/5 Safeway coupon and the $2/1 Fresh Express coupon - an AWESOME deal. AND my store did FINALLY get the Fresh Ideal magazine in so I was able to pick up a handful in hopes that they will have the Fresh Express kits on sale again before the end of September - which I'm sure that they probably will.

So many good Rite Aid deals this week! I have somewhat of a busy week this week, but I'm going to try to get as many of these deals as I can, and post as I do so. Today, I just did a few that I absolutely wanted to do. (I mainly wanted to get free Bic Soleil razors by using my last 2 survey q's to "force" the razors to become free.) The first thing I did when I entered the store, is ask one of the gals if they knew about the survey issue. They did and said they knew how to take care of it - whoohoo! I had 2 of those survey q's left and so I did 2 transactions to "use 'em up." My RA price modified a Bic Soleil Razor for each of my transactions. There was no problem with my getting the UPs on them. But I would definitely make sure RA does not modify any SCR items. Transaction 1:Purchases:(1) Oral B Advantage Plus Toothbrush $2.43 (2) Bic Soleil razors ($4.99 ea less $3 price mod) = $6.98 (1) OraMoist Dry Mouth Patch $6.99 (1) Ben Gay Vanishing Scent 2 oz (Reg $5.49 - less 10% disc)= $4.94 Subtotal: $21.34 Less:(2) Bic Soleil Razor $3 MQ's (SS 7/10/11) = -$(6.00) (1) Ben Gay In-Ad Q = -$(2.00) (1) Ben Gay IP =-$(5.00) (1) Oral B Advantage Toothbrush MQ (P&G 7/3/11) = -$(2.00) Total: $6.34(Paid with $6 in UPs and 34 cents.) Received:(2) $1 Ups from Bic Razors Have submitted:SCR for $6 for OraMoist Dry Mouth Patch Result: $6.34 - $2 Ups - $6 SCR = $1.66 PROFITNote: YMMV if you have the Ben-Gay coupon. Their policy is to adjust coupons down to the actual price. However, my RA's will not do this. (In fact, when I've tried to get them to do this, they've thrown in another item for me to absorb the overage. Seriously. LOL. Yes, I do my RA.) Transaction 2: Purchases:(1) RA Petroleum Jelly 2.5 oz (Reg $2.29 - less 10% disc) = $2.06 (2) Bic Soleil razors ($4.99 ea less $3 price mod) = $6.98 (1) Oral-B CrossAction Power Toothbrush = $5.99 (1) Ben Gay Vanishing Scent 2 oz (Reg $5.49 - less 10% disc)= $4.94 (1) RA purse size tissue pack (Regular .39 - less 10% disc) = .35 Subtotal: $20.32 Less:(2) Bic Soleil Razor $3 MQ's (SS 7/10/11) = -$(6.00) (1) Ben Gay In-Ad Q = -$(2.00) (1) Ben Gay IP =-$(5.00) (1) Oral B Power Toothbrush MQ (P&G 7/31/11) = -$(3.00) (1) RA Skincare Q (from prior Skincare purchase) = -$(2.00) Total: $2.32(Paid with $2 in UPs and 32 cents.) Received:(2) $1 Ups from Bic Razors Have submitted:SCR for $3 for Oral-B Power Toothbrush Result: $2.32 - $2 Ups - $3 SCR = $2.68 PROFITNote: Sadly, it looks like the RA Skincare coupon is dead. When I used the skincare coupon, I didn't get another one back. It was good while it lasted! After these transactions, I have the following tracking towards some of the larger UP deals: P&G $10 UP wyb $30 - I have $2.43 towards that Oral Care $5 UP wyb $25 = $15.41 towards that J&J $10 UP wyb $30 = $9.88 towards that
