We'll spend around $50 minimum. We need to get a few groceries between now and Sunday and it'll probably be around $20-30. DH and DN go out to breakfast one morning every weekend and that is usually around $15-25. DH and I are also debating as to whether or not to go out to dinner tomorrow night. If we do, it'll probably run us somewhere between $75 and $100.

Groceries and getting my hair cut. About $100 for both. So far this year I have only spent $97 outside of monthly bills. I guess groceries would be a monthly bill but I'm counting it in my discretionary income.

We're having a low-expense weekend- just groceries and church contributions. I have a church committee meeting most of tomorrow and will be spending most of my spare time over the weekend painting the dining room, now that I've removed the wallpaper.

Bought groceries tonight, $42 and will get gas. If my brother comes over for dinner I need to get more ribs. I am trying to lay low this wkend and get unpacked. Going to Vegas MLK week so that will be a bunch of money. I need some more drinks for next week and while unpacking might decide I need something for arranging the apt. I also need to pick a dry cleaner/tailor. I have stuff that needs cleaned and hemmed.

I lived in Europe for over 5 years. Between the World Cup, and Euro tournaments, and then all the local stuff, it was just as prevalent.

This is true... but we don't live there, and we don't have cable, so we only seek it out during the World Cup... which is just about enough for me... we are looking at trying to be IN Brazil in 2014... but we'll see how that works out?

Gowron, I agree with Oped on this. Unless you have somebody who is really into football (soccer) or rugby (thankfully my DH is not!), the "big events" are rarer here than in the US where you have "big men chasing a little ball" (that would be my late mom's quote) all year round for football, basketball, baseball, etc.
Alas, we have an unexpectedly spendy weekend lined up. DS1 is home from his job abroad, and DS2 warned me and DH at breakfast this morning that DS1 had come home with him rather than stay in his friend's apt in town as he had been for the past three nights.
Of course ditzy DH zapped that, and locked DS1 into his basement bedroom when we both left for work. So DS1 ended up smashing the glass of the door to let himself into the rest of the house.
I'm thankful that DH is very handy and can fix it himself, and frankly amazed that it has never happened before. DS1 moved down there 6.5 years ago when he left for college. I will also get another key made for DS1 to keep inside his bedroom just in case it ever happens again.
And, I have to replace our electric kettle. I was totally spaced the other day, filled it up to boil water for pasta, but instead of putting it back on its base, I put it on top of the stove, and of course it melted.
So I guess DH and I are even. The kettle is cheaper though!

I stopped at my favorite Goodwill and found a little vase that looked like vintage milkglass for $2. I only had $1 cash on me, tho, and didn't want to stand in line and pull out my debit card for $2, so I put it back. My hubby just walked in and handed me a Christmas village piece he bought on clearance at the drugstore for $4, so we did spend money.

Along with mac n cheese with some pricier cheese. I never knew the raw milk sharp cheddar was amazing until they did that sampling event of their holiday catering offerings. I guess if I were really going for it I could have got some of those imported butters although I'm not sure what the differences are so that could end badly. They are pants not skirts If I get the pants shorter then they will be what my grandpa refers to as high water britches lol.

debtheaven, this is so funny. This is so something that would happen at our house, by anyone of us.
(sorry for the edits, apparently cut and paste was not so plain and simple here)
