Hi Raven, I'm really not sure what the letters are about. I got one from an "arbitration firm", which just sounds sleazy, and they mention a court docket and a lawsuit from First NA bank. I have no idea who First NA bank is. And - I haven't heard from the Sheriff, who supposedly has SERVED me, so I'm beginning to think the lawyers really DO have the wrong person.
It wouldn't surprise me, I got a pile of those letters in 2-3 days, and now I haven't had any since, so... maybe somebody with the same name is on a mailing list and since nobody really researched anything they just blanket mail and hope to hit the target. The world of junk mail. I'll keep my eyes peeled, but I can't let it worry me. Ain't nothin' wrong with my mortgage, and that's all that matters to me!

kristin I definitely agree with constanz22 There is no need to charge your card for a gift. I know you are young, but don't let people push you into these social expectations. Remember a registry is just recommendations and a wishlist. You are never required to buy from a registry. It's just there to make life easier for those who don't care to take the time to figure out what the bride or mother-to-be actually need or like. It'll be ok if you wait a little longer to buy the gift and that will give you a little more time to think about creative ways to get a beautiful gift that isn't out of your budget. I've made gorgeous gift baskets for under $20 that people have ranted and raved about. Anything from dish clothes they've requested to food baskets of their favorite items like chocolate ;D I enjoy finding out more information about the couples when I take the effort to do this!

Thanks for the advice constanz22 & mourningcloak. I had a baby shower a week ago and it was easy to go cheaper and not off the registry for that but I was kind of at a loss for a bridal shower considering they already have a house and what I think is everything they need. Putting together a simple basket with some inexpensive items would probably be a great idea!

On a positive note: I think I got my balance transfer! Well not the whole amount but a huge chunk of it! I received the new card that I applied for in the mail on Saturday and it did not mention anything of the balance transfer and Target is still carrying the entire amount of the balance. When I called them to activate the card I asked about the transfer and it said that it is schedule to go through on Tuesday for $3,183. That would mean that my Target card would be around $1,000 and this new card would be at about $3,300 with the transfer fee. I need to see what my minimum payments for each card would be before I decide how I am going to spread out the money. I have about $135 that I am currently paying to Target but I am going to now have to divide it between the two cards. I dont know what is my better option because I could either put more towards the new card because it has 0% interest on balance transfers for the next 15 months or I can try and put more towards the Target card since that has a very high interest rate. Once everything goes through I am going to figure out whats the best option for me.

kristin Yay for lower interests! The Target balance sounds like it will be low enough that I would probably tackle that first and try to get rid of it once you see how much you'll need for the minimum payments on the other.

Just getting caught up reading some posts--- Raven-- so sorry about your dog--My thoughts and prayers are with you. I feel your pain--Love this poem---
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Psst .. hey indebt. You need what's called a "tagline".
Here is Ravenhaired's, as an example:
Ravenhaired: 3/15/11 $58,431.58 (12/23/09 $72,190.66)
Your nic, the date you join or update, your current total. (date you first joined, starting debt). You'll also need to post what state you are in.
The "captains" and "cocaptains" here all rock, but we all need to do our own math LOL.
Hey Northeasterners, please give a big welcome to Indebt who I met on YM and encouraged to come over here so he could share his enthusiasm on paying off his debt with y'all!

Shoutouts ending Page 15, Message #437 onmywaynow: You just missed my last update, but that makes you first this time. You are almost to $20K paid off!
melting_debt: Sorry about the problems with you & DH’s jobs being fickle, but I’m so happy that you have a new one – and bonus that it’s better paying! That balance will be back down in no time.
TPSReport: Another nice update – do you think you will be done with this race before 2012 comes?
poohbiscit: You are moving in the right direction. You’ll get to $10K, and now you won’t have to worry about car insurance or life insurance.
thriftymom[2]: How is the home remodel coming along? Have some faith – this is your 2nd race – I know you’ll get to zero. Just keep plugging along. (Get those taxes done yet?!)
FreeMeN10: Over $500 is a GREAT pay down. I just know you’ll have that CC1 down to zero by the time I see your next update!
mourningcloak: What a nice job posting your first table. $21 is still making progress – pat yourself on the back. Congrats on the engagement!
Momofg: Congrats on the pay down, no matter how large or small. Have you made plans for your refund yet?
Maryland Monroe: Look there – you are now over $10K paid off! Super job! And congrats on your zero.
WANTANEWJOB: So sorry to hear about your pup. Have you found out yet when your position will end? I’ll keep my fingers crossed that you will find a “new” new job. Congrats on getting your balance under $10K.
mm4nodebt: Congrats on getting the motorcycle sold. And, some better news for you – when you add an entirely new debt (as in purchasing a new tractor), that total gets added to your original total, too. (So you still get to keep everything that you have paid off.) That would make you - mm4nodebt: 03/12/11 $28,035.78 (2/23/09 $53,433 NE496)
justpayit: Nice to see another update from you! And what SUPER progress you have made in just two months! (Yeah for spring)
lark_1964: Don’t get down on yourself, you paid off almost $1k this month! I was in your great city on Wednesday, and wouldn’t you know it, I got stuck in a traffic jam on I-76 for an hour!
Ravenhaired: Debt total is going down, Savings is going up – You have done a terrific job in the past 15 months.
Indebt: Welcome to our newest member. Your tagline would look like this - Indebt: NewUpdateDate NewUpdateAmount (3/16/11 $16,391.00 NPT15) Can you let us know what state you are from?
rpprt: I get to finish up the updates this week with – ME! Still moving in the right direction. I’ve noticed my paid off CCs are itching to have me back – getting lots of offers for promo rates, but I’m not falling for their tricks ever again.
Crisde2bdebtfree: Sorry to hear about the layoffs at work – any chance you won’t be one of them? Glad to hear your son is OK after the accident.

Ok so here is my tag line. I started March 15th so the top green line in my picture actually doesn't reflect my new balance.. here it is:

rppt Thanks for doing the smiley list! It is great to see the progress I have made. I was getting a little dissapointed that the other regions had it and the NE didn't, so THANK YOU!! and Thanks to Minnesotagirl for helping.
I actually have a savings!! I have never been able to hold onto money, so to see even my pity $125.00, it is a good feeling.

Hi all!
raven: If I haven't said it yet, I'm sorry about your beloved pooch. My heart aches for you.
lark: Is that BOA debt your mortgage? Or is it a debt from a lengthy amount of time ago? Did they explain to you why they're suing you? Am I asking too many questions? eek! Good luck to you!
On the home front: Well, we challenged the $15k + DP closing costs on the house and there were a few things that we were able to do in order to lower them. First of all, NYS is one of only 4 states that require 3 lawyers - one to rep buyers, 1 to rep sellers, and one to rep the bank. Can you say RIP OFF?! I</3 NY! So, we asked our lawyer to rep us and the seller and it was agreed upon. So, we saved $ there. Another thing we did was ask for seller concession of $5k. The selling bank agreed. Then last night we were informed that a few "fees" were adjusted/lifted saving us another $1k. So, now instead of having to walk in to closing with $20k including DP, we're at about the $13k mark including DP. That we can handle. Also, we're having the property reassessed to its current value for tax purposes. Right now it's assessed at $100k (yes, $100k!!!!) more than it's worth. Good news for Mr. & Mrs. IM though, once the renovations are complete and the neglected yard/front walk are cleaned up and repaired, our real estate agent told us the home will be worth in the $235-$250k range in this market. SAY WHAT?!?! Yea, I almost fell off my chair, too. We plan on sticking it out in this house for minimum 5 years. So, we close April 28th and then it's on to months or hard work. I plan on documenting ALL before and afters.
