I was wondering...are we ever going to see another Galactic State of the Union? I haven't seen any updates for the whole WIRR in more than a year. How many members do we have? How much have we collectively paid off?

oceanfire31: 2/17/2012 $10802 (9/7/2009 $22908.15 NE679, NE692) I am such a sporadic poster but after a year long hiatus I decided it was time to get serious with the remainder of my debt. Student loan -$10,210 Here goes nothing probably going to add a savings account to this too as we are trying to get ready to take on a mortgage. In case you were confused I was oceanfire31 however the board would not let me log in using my email/password so I had to make a new username sorry for the confusion.

still treading water. still no offers. I actually had someone come through this weekend and decline to put in an offer because the outside landscaping wasn't up to snuff - like I have any sort of control over that?! ugh.

Update: sbvs4you 6/20/13 $33,406.42 (5/14/13 $33,374.28)So the goods news is that the dentist put in another claim for our bill reducing it from $216.40 to $71.40. The bad news is that I didn't realize one of our no interest cards finally has interest causing our payment to do nothing for us so I am over our starting point. I am working a lot of hours starting next week since school is out and DH is home (he's a teacher). So hoping to watch this number go wayyyy down!

I am so late with my update. It looks like my totals went up a bit but some payments haven't cleared yet so that's the discrepency and I wanted to post it before I got the boot . Things have been going well so far and I'm feeling positive about getting this debt repayment moving. My boss informed me she was going to be retiring in 4 years so I am more motivated than ever to be rid of it by then so that I can retire right along with her. Happy racing everyone! Total % paid: 10.85% Goals: Be under $45,000 by October 1 Increase EF to $2,000

So I just opened a new card to do an 18 month balance transfer. I know, I know, I know - I hate playing the balance transfer game, but with 0% for 18 months and a 3% cap on the transfer, it was too good to pass up. I am hoping that this is finally it and that I have no more "hiccups" in the road this year. I still have to have like $2k worth of dental work done, which sucks & I am not at all happy about, considering the last 2 years I have spent that exact same amount of money each year! Ugh! At this point, I'm ready to rip my own teeth out!
Once I have the finalization of the transfers, I'll post an update with the new data. The 0% is good until January 2015, so if I can stay stringent, I can knock out the 6.99% credit card (aiming for June 2014) that a chunk of the transfer is coming from, as well as the balance transfer card by November 2014. That card has been the bane of my existence for the last 4 years, so to see it going in the next year is a weight off my shoulders.

My daughter had her baby over the weekend. They never made it to the hospital, my granddaughter was delivered by her mom in the front seat of their car. Her husband was driving like a bat out of hell and still they didn't get there on time!

Sorry, I decided it made sense to do my 7/1/13 update since all checks have been mailed and I will be going on vacation at the end of the week.
Hoping to make another update sometime midJuly. Making slow, but steady progress. I'm just so happy to be out of the 6 figure debt as I was there a long, long time!!!
(ooops, I had originally posted this to the wrong board).

EF=$556.03$7,431.22 of the balance of CC#1 is at 0% until October. Unfortunately, my balance has gone up this month. The balances on CC#2 and CC#4 went up because I got an offer I can't refuse. By charging $1,000 on each card, I will get $75 and $100 cash back. So I used those two cards instead of the card that I normally use for regular expenses. Despite my racing balance going up, my overall debt is still lower than a month ago because of the reduced spending on my other card. Next month my balance will again be higher because I am closing on my mortgage refi on Monday. I will have 2 months of no required mortgage payment, so I will apply those payments to CC#5. This should allow me to retire that debt by about October. The bottom line is that things look ugly now and will look ugly again next month, but these moves are going to help me pay off my debt faster. I am frustrated that my balance never got under $300,000 for an update, but I will get there soon. -movinonup

Yeah, I finally got the tables to work!!!! I cannot believe the huge progress I made in just (shortly over) 1 month. I started my new job and got my first paycheck!!! Between the increase in my salary, and having better benefits for less money, I am actually coming out ahead by almost $300/paycheck (2 weeks). Then on top of it, they are putting close to $200/paycheck into a retirement account. I was away for 2 weeks for training for my new job. I have to submit all of my expense reports, so my goal is when I receive my check for expenses: CC #2 will paid off, and hopefully CC #3 will be paid off as well. My new boss asked me to work on 4th of July, which is double time. I couldn't say no. The extra money I would love to sock away into my Emergency Fund. As much as I loved my job being a veterinary technician, not being able to buy groceries and put gas in the car in the same pay period was very stressful. Now my new position, as a 911 Dispatcher is not something I would of actively sought out, so far seems to be less stressful because I feel like I have a little bit more freedom in my life. Not saying I am going to go out and rack up my credit cards again, or buy a new car, but just knowing my financial situation is a little bit more secure is a wonderful feeling. Kinda like drinking really good champagne while going shoe shopping

My daughter had her baby over the weekend. They never made it to the hospital, my granddaughter was delivered by her mom in the front seat of their car. Her husband was driving like a bat out of hell and still they didn't get there on time! Congratulations!!!!

-movinonup Movinonup: I know this is hard to do, but do not feel frustrated. When you feel frustrated, or angry with yourself, you will never move forward towards your goals of being debt free. It happened, it will happen, accept it and just know that you are ultimately moving forward. Sorry, I just came from a really intense yoga class

FINALLY figured out tables (again!!!)! Woo-hoo! Alright, so my 0% balance transfer went through from Citi, where I moved a majority of the balance from AMEX & the BoA - RCCL cards over to enjoy the 0% until December 23, 2014. Based on what the chart is showing, I won't have that card paid off in time using the snowball amount I now have ($900), but I don't factor in my husband's annual bonus (February) or the tax return (hopefully this year!) or any other "found" money. My AMEX is now at a manageable place - it's monthly bills that get paid off every month, so I may always "have" a balance on there, but it's getting paid off monthly. I may even decide to drop it off the list next month. Was attempting to pay off the 2 smaller debts - CareCredit & EdFinancial SL, but hubby made a rather costly boo-boo w/ his work AMEX - he didn't see any email requesting further verification for a $7.64 receipt and so the company didn't pay his AMEX off....for 2 months!!! Had to pay out of pocket $855 in finance charges (balance on the card was like $14k) as this hits HIS credit report & the company refused to pay it! Unbelievable! Over freakin $7.64!!! Ugh! Always something! That set us back a month & a half with my progress.....Might still decide to pay those 2 off anyway before tackling the BoA RCCL card & then the Citi. I just feel like I keep adding to my list of nonsense, so by taking those 2 little ones out, I might feel like I'm making some progress! November 2013 & 2014 just seem so far away to wait for victories!

Update: antevasin: 7/1/13 $97,391.57 (8/20/08 $210,000.00 NE100) Total balance paid: $112,608.43 Total percentage paid: 53.62% Total percentage remaining: 46.38% Updating June totals, going to take some additional hits in the month of August. Am pursuing grad studies and my parents have agreed to loan me the additional funds to cover the education as the interest rates on student loans are high (and growing ) and I've done a good job of paying them back thus far (so they say, which I've proven over the years ). So it's going to be a bit of borrow from one to pay off another and the debt totals will grow, but I will update that as the costs are incurred towards the education.

I did it! At this moment my balance is under $300,000! $298,765.18 is my snapshot balance. It's going to be short-lived, since my new mortgage should be funded next week.
meltingdebt - thanks for the encouragement.
Have a great holiday!

Happiness and joy for me - 2 pieces of good news. 1) I called two of my cc's last nite and much like 6 months ago, they once again lowered my interest rate. Small steps, 2% down on citibank and 1% down on BOA with a removal of last month's interest charge of $111. And I'll be doing it again in 6 months. Feel good about it! (Would feel even more deliriously happy if it had gone down a bit more, but baby steps are still steps in the right direction!!) Second piece of news is that the Claritas Investment Certificate exam that I took last April (basically, a CFA - Lite - the lighter version of the Chartered Financial Analyst program)...well...I PASSED! I did it I did it I did it! And yes, I wondered if I would pass, mostly because it was a pilot program and we were the guinea pig class. Don't even know what the curve was. But either way, it's something I can add to my resume and makes me look really good to my boss! WOOHOOOOOOO!!! So those two things are good. I feel good. And I wanted to share that happy feeling with y'all! Happy Tuesday folks!

Update: Kristin11: 7/9/13 $4,964.73 (12/31/09 $16,567.73 NEU8)Creditor | 5/17/13 | 7/9/13 | Difference | Domestications | $0 | $0 | $0 | Kohls | $0 | $0 | $0 | Target Visa | $0 | $0 | $0 | Discover | $3,949.13 | $3,830.03 | ($119.10) | Disney Visa | $1,075.66 | $1,134.70 | $59.04 | Shell | $0 | $0 | $0 | Macy's | $0 | $0 | $0 | Sister's Loan | $0 | $0 | $0 | Bethpage Loan | $299.68 | $0 | ($299.68) | Aunt's Loan | $175.00 | $0 | ($175.00) | Total: | $5,469.76 | $4,964.73 | ($534.74) |
Two more $0’s added to my list! I finally paid off my Aunt’s loan and my loan at my credit union. And got under $5,000 while doing it! What a relief that is to have an extra $280 in my monthly budget! I am taking over paying my car insurance in August so that amount will go down to around $180. I am going to throw an extra $100 at my Disney card each month starting in September to get that paid off as fast as I can so that I can transfer Discover or a non-racing card over and get the lower interest rate. The other $80 I am going to just keep in my budget for incidentals. And there sure have been a lot of incidentals lately. I have spent $500 on car repairs in the past two weeks so I am going to have to work on beefing up my EF again but I don’t think I will start that until January. I want to see how the rest of the year plays out with making larger payments. My Disney Visa went up a little bit because I ended up putting a doctor’s copay on it. I had the cash for the copay (at least what I thought the cost of it was) and after the appointment I was told that my copay had increased as of July 1st and I guess my job and the insurance company both neglected to tell me so it went on the card. Not too concerned about it because I am scheduled to make two more payments this month totaling $125 so that will more than make up for the difference. My Aunt has volunteered to loan me more money if I would like to pay something off and I know my credit union would be willing to let me consolidate a second time but I made the decision to see how things shape up through the end of the year and then make some new choices about going forward once we are in 2014. Right now my goal is to finish this race by June 30th 2015. That means it would have taken me 5 ½ years to complete it but I am ok with that considering all the changes that have happened in my life. As of right now I have a second race planned to start right away (like July 1st) but I am obviously going to wait and see what my numbers are at 2 years from now. So the next few months should be turtling along and my two remaining racing debts should be decreasing at the same rate each month. Will keep everyone updated each month and should anything change you will be the first to know! Thank you to everyone for your support!
