I added a little comment about how I felt the $141 decrease between december & january spending was wrong on the article about january deals.

I got a response to my comment where I mentioned I couldn't edit my comments.
Hi Kari, I'm Bundle's associate editor. We don't yet have the ability to edit comments (I wish we did!). As a workaround in the meantime, you can email me at Logan@bundle.com and I can delete a comment so you can re - post with edits. Thanks!

We should just be rogue posters, popping in a trolling Bundle's stupid threads until they shut down. That's pretty much my plan. But I can't do it without your help!

diana - no it isn't an article. It is community generated by a gal who happens to be a writer. Just about everyone in the community is a blogger or writer of some sort. A few of them are on bundle's staff.

I guess I missed the rest of the story (or the purpose of bundle), but I didn't see the buy cheap dishes "article" as an argument for building wealth. It just seemed like it was about spending less while still getting the pleasure of having new stuff. (That's a perspective I don't share, mind you.) The article was simplistic, but it wasn't about investing. I found thyme's response and the next one out of context... and mean. Unlikely to create meaningful dialogue.
I like your other approach, thyme, of starting new "articles" that raise the level of conversation. Good luck with your mission. I'll try to get over there later to contribute and help you out.

Almost all of the articles and posts are about spending.
That gal does at least 2 threads a week on "deals."
I think spending and saving go hand in hand - you can't save that dollar if you spent it. So, I don't have a problem mentioning that if you, perhaps, bought less dishes you might, perhaps, have more savings.
But, yes, my comments were intentionally mean.

I saw that post. I replied. Are you talking about the dancing bubbles at the top of the page? The post is a little disconnected from which numbers you are referring to. We can have this conversation on Bundle to show how poor their product is.
No - you can't edit. No - you can't have 2 paragraphs in your post, so everything is just a blob. No spell check.

SO... alternately. WE could just take over bundle with legitimate stuff.... however, that does not seem as much fun as spamming them...

Ok.. i posted on the dishes one too...
Question, how does Bundle get to be the #1 Source for How People Spend and Save Money -- Personal Finance Data, Money Advice ??
Can we just announce ourselves #1 at whatever we want?
Oh... i need to start a thread...

Good lord. I just spent 15 minutes trying to respond to wasting's comment on my thread & can't even do it. It logs me in, but then kicks me back out when I get to an article to try to comment. I give up for the moment. Here is what I had typed up as a response - I'm going to post it here for now so at least I won't feel the time spent typing it was wasted. Maybe I will be able to post it later on bundle or someone can do it for me that is able to actually log in.
- Yes, the dancing bubbles. Sorry if I wasn't more clear. It appears to be a way to view the data collected by bundle, but I can't find something really explaining where these numbers come from. - You have to click on the savings catergory on the right & make sure you are looking at all ages, all incomes, all US. Then click on the loan bubble & you see that mortgages are $68,889, student loans are $1,436, etc. That is where I got the number specific to my question. - Playing around further I can see that the 18-25 mortgage amount is $22,237. Whereas, the 36-39 mortgage is $79,724. So I can only assume this is some sort of average that include homeowners & non-homeowners. - The 18-25 home value is $35,311. So either they are buying cheap homes or we are including those who have a home value of $0. But, really what good is this number? Why would I compare my home's value against an average that includes people with a home value of $0? - Anyone else have further insights or is there a page that explains this sort of stuff??

My further insight is that why even bother trying to figure out WTF Bundle is trying to do because it's a bunch of fluff pieces taht will not attract anyone who is serious about finance.

...:::"This young fellow would like to know if you would purchase a membership to get discounts for restarants.":::...
Although paying less to eat out is the YM way, and some YM posters believe eating out is more efficient or cheaper than cooking at home, the frugal among us are excellent cooks who spend a weekend cooking food that lasts the whole month.
...:::"We should just be rogue posters, popping in a trolling Bundle's stupid threads until they shut down.":::...
Hahhahaha, that could be fun!
...:::"They interviewed the Asian kid from Glee who didn't even speak until this season?! About money?! There was no money talk! ":::...
That actor has some WICKED dance moves though. I like that he has speaking parts now, but even when he didn't, he said everything he needed to say through dance.

Ok, got it to work now & got my response on Bundle.
Wow, one big, long paragraph blob. I thought the dashes would help in the reading, but it is just horrendous. Blech.

I am just an math dork who likes numbers, but what is the point when you can't figure out what the numbers mean or where they come from. It doesn't mean much that my mortgage is higher than average when it appears you are comparing it against people who don't even have a mortgage. I just realized you can grab the bubbles & bounce them around. Fun! Bundle appears to be all glitter with no real substance. Where are all the tools that Mike kept saying we needed to try out?

I realize the bundle people are entertaining targets, but you guys are starting to remind me of gankers on a pvp (player-versus-player) game. Many pvp games have failed because the wolves scared off all the sheep and had no one to gank anymore. Have to bring up the noobs a bit first so they have a more even fight.
That said, no one has responded to any of my more serious posts, so maybe I should just join the feeding frenzy on the target thread. Has anyone figured out how to post a link there? I tried to paste one in when I disputed someones claim that gas prices are going to go down and stay low for two years, but all I got was the text instead of a link.

Well - first off, I believe that every single person that is posting there that isn't "one of us" are paid contributors, or at the very least, friends of the founding group. So, I don't think we are going to scare anyone off.
I am hoping to find a way to challenge them to raise the quality of the articles and postings a little - but really - I am just coming across as bitchy.
I do want to thank those that have gone over, and I seriously think the only shot we have is to continue to post and show our presence. Honestly, I would be interested to see if they are capable of responding to our needs.

I still haven't gotten my e-mail telling me my account was activated. I also can't sign-up for a new account because my e-mail account is already in their system.

I feel like we're picking on the new kid with the funny glasses. He just might turn out to be the next Bill Gates, y'know.
Not that I'm switching over to Bundle, it seems rather Basic Finance 101, and this coming from a not-so-money-savvy onlooker. You all have spoiled me with your deep financial geekiness. I get the impression Bundle is intended for the Twitter crowd, which I am definitely not a part of.

Today it was confirmed that many of the contributors there are on-staff. I asked that since they are compensated, maybe Bundle could ask them to find a broader array of topics branching out of the spending topic. I suspect the answer will be something like "We already offer a variety of topics."
Don't pee on my shoe and tell me its raining.

Yeah, they suggested you go to their 'savings' section for that info... but most of those were spending articles too i noticed... like why one woman spends half her money on rent... oh... and apparently one way to save is to sue people in small claims court?
