It looks like things are falling apart already. How sad. I hope someone intervenes and helps him get straightened out. The cited issue may not have involved alcohol but, given all the emotional overload he must be going through, he needs help. He's supposed to be on Dr. Phil tonight and tomorrow - should be interesting. I'm still rooting for him. "Ted Williams, the former homeless man known as having a "golden voice," was detained Monday night with his daughter after police responded to a disturbance at a Hollywood hotel, according to the Hollywood Reporter and Access Hollywood. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to TODAY that two people were detained...." today.msnbc.msn.com/id/41020648/ns/today-today_people/

It's difficult enough for someone to overcome addictions (either alcohol or drugs), but now this guy's been thrown into the limelight and the constant media coverage must be overwhelming for him. Plus he's trying to re-unite with his family and and keep focused on staying clean at the same time. It's great that he's been given a job and now has a residence, but adjustment to him now being a 'celebrity' too is a lot of pressure for any recovering addict. I hope he gets some coping skills (either from Dr Phil or another professional) on how to deal with the pressure so he can adjust to this drastic life change he's about to face.

Kent, government contractors and anyone with a security clearance issued by the government are subject to random drug testing. As well as any employee of a company that just feels like doing it. My previous employer is one of the largest (legalized) drug dealers in the world, yet performed random drug testing on it's employees. Oh the irony!

I was on his band wagon the first day I saw his story with him holding the sign as a bum on the street. Then the next day or 2 days later I saw the news video of him reuniting with his mom. And that’s when I fell off this wagon. I saw that clip and thought he hasn’t fully recovered or he will fall back into addition because of all the pressure of not just the media coverage but just getting back into civilization

I just watched the Phil program from last night (God, I love dvr's) and Phil asked him point blank if he could pass a drug/alcohol test right then and there. Ted said yes. Tonight is a "family" meeting (including his ex-wife) that promises to be quite interesting as he meets with kids he abandoned and never supported even when he was working. As Phil said, this guy has a LOT of baggage and he needs to get it all out on the table sooner than later because there are a lot of people out there that just love to destroy others.

I wish him the best, but I don't believe he's been clean for 2 years. He was on Dr.Phil today and he did not believe he has been clean for 2 years either.
