Actually I even think people should be able to make up their own science.
But they shouldn't be allowed to teach that in public schools.

Elected in 2006, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann is the first Republican woman to be elected to the U.S. House of Representatives from Minnesota. From the beginning, Congresswoman Bachmann has demonstrated bold reform, pushing to fix Washington’s broken ways. Every day she puts her constitutional conservative values to work as she represents the people of Minnesota’s Sixth Congressional District, a district which contains parts of six counties, stretching from Stillwater past St. Cloud, including suburbs of the Twin Cities.
Congresswoman Bachmann is a leading advocate for tax reform, a staunch opponent of wasteful government spending, and a strong proponent of adherence to the Constitution, as intended by the Founding Fathers. She believes government has grown exponentially, with ObamaCare being the most recent example of its uninhibited growth. Congresswoman Bachmann wants government to make the kind of serious spending decisions that many families and small businesses have been forced to make. She is a champion of free markets and she believes in the vitality of the family as the first unit of government. She is also a defender of the unborn and staunchly stands for religious liberties.
Prior to serving in the U.S. Congress, Bachmann served in the Minnesota State Senate. She was elected to the Minnesota State Senate in 2000 where she championed the Taxpayers Bill of Rights. Before that, she spent five years as a federal tax litigation attorney, working on hundreds of civil and criminal cases. That experience solidified her strong support for efforts to simplify the Tax Code and reduce tax burdens on family and small business budgets. Congresswoman Bachmann also led the charge on education issues in Minnesota calling for the abolishment of Goals 2000 and the Profiles of Learning in its school. She recognized the need for quality schools and subsequently started a charter school for at-risk kids in Minnesota.
Congresswoman Bachmann sits on the Financial Services Committee (FSC) and the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. The FSC is tasked with oversight of numerous financial sectors including housing, real estate and banking. This gave the Congresswoman keen insight into the housing crisis and credit crunch, leading her to be a staunch opponent of the taxpayer-funded bailout of Wall Street and the Dodd-Frank legislation. Serving on the Intelligence Committee was a welcomed opportunity for Congresswoman Bachmann as she has consistently advocated peace through strength to ensure America’s national security. As a mother of five children and 23 foster children, she has a deep appreciation for that portion of the Oath of Office in which members of Congress vow to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. In July 2010 Congresswoman Bachmann hosted the first Tea Party Caucus meeting because she saw the need for Tea Partiers to have a listening ear in Congress. She is seen as a champion of Tea Party values including the call for lower taxes, renewed focus on the Constitution and the need to shrink the size of government. Congresswoman Bachmann is a graduate of Anoka High School and Winona State University. She received her J.D. at the O.W. Coburn School of Law at Oral Roberts University and an L.L.M. in Tax Law at the College of William and Mary. She has been married to Marcus for more than thirty years and they live in Stillwater where they own a small business mental health care practice that employs nearly fifty people. The Bachmanns have five children, Lucas, Harrison, Elisa, Caroline, and Sophia. In addition, the Bachmanns have opened their home to 23 foster children, which has inspired Congresswoman Bachmann to become one of Congress’ leading advocates for foster and adopted children, earning her bipartisan praise for her efforts.

Why is it that when a woman gains some political power and runs for office there is an immediate trashing of her. The odd thing is that it is as much women doing it as men. Ever hear of equal opportunity? Seems a lot haven't At least we won't have her showing her physical attributes on the net.

I think people should be able to use the scientific method to explore whatever they want... I don't think they can just call their ideas scientific theory or fact... even if they don't want to teach it in schools...
I think Bachmann is more adept at dealing with people and the political game than Palin. I think her personality is more genial; she doesn't seem to have the deep personality flaws Palin displays. I can respect Bauchmann's family/foster care committment... although i agree with her on almost nothing and find the prospect of her as president to be truely frightening and would never vote for her to represent me in any capacity...

She was a Stanford Professor. Similarly Hillary Clinton is a smart cookie. But Palin and Bachmann are bozos.

Bozos are clowns who work in Barnum Bailey Circuses....as far as I know these two lovely ladies do not work for any Circuses. Although some may say the congress is like a circus but that is rather lame IMHO

I disagree. Just as men sometimes their privates, you should be able to call anything any name in the privacy of your own home. You should be able to preach that as well, as long as you are OK with being publicly humiliated. But you can't teach that in public schools as it is unConstitutional to try to pass religion off as science on the Govt dime. Go open your fantasy museum to do that. Anyway, but who do you think is more of an idiot?

It is hard to say. They are both terrible. I think that we had much more interesting women like Geraldine Ferrara, Bella Abzug et. all in the 1970s. What a character that "Battling Bella" was with her trademark hats adopted as a young lawyer so people would not think she was a secretary. I will never forget the freezing St. Patricks day when I sat in the reviewing stand and this kindly grandma lent me a blanket. I never thought such a tough lady would have so kind a heart. Agree.

There are many smart women in public service.
Just to be clear, I don't think Bauchmann is a smart cookie... i just think that she is slightly better than Palin, for the minimal reasons i listed... It was a relative thing... if the only two people being compared are Palin and Bauchmann... Bachmann is less the idiot of the two...

Don't you think if you want to bash women that you should not just limit your bashing to two conservative ladies?? You have others in the Democratic Party you might want to bash as well was the point I was trying to make so be an equal opportunity basher and go for the whole thing..IMHO
I didn't watch the Republican Debates in NH or the Republican Christain Conservative Speeches because of the Bruins and Red Sox games...but with that being said I understand Ms Bachmann did quite well at both events...

I'm not bashing ... my statements are neither gratuitous nor prejudicial... I am stating my opinions on the public statements and actions of these women... how they choose to present themselves...

Sorry but I never got the memo.....
But are you one of those guys who feels threatened by intelligent women and wants just to put them down??? Just asking??
If you are then count me out of that group...bashing or trashing women is NOT my thing..
BTW can you match her educational background??
In case you missed it here it is:
Congresswoman Bachmann is a graduate of Anoka High School and Winona State University. She received her J.D. at the O.W. Coburn School of Law at Oral Roberts University and an L.L.M. in Tax Law at the College of William and Mary.

I am hardly one threatened by powerful, smart women. I am rather attracted to powerful, smart women instead.

PI... I said she plays the game much better than Palin. And if that is your idea of doing very well... ok... but she didn't answer any questions... she pretty much just repeated soundbites and talked about herself...

Hey I have been critical of Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer and Debbie Wasseraman Schultz but only of their liberal agenda or mistakes I think they made by disagreeing with them... I had a personal encounter with Congresswoman Pat Schroeder a long time ago and learned a valuable lesson.. that ladies with power and control will use it against you in a heart beat.. Schroeder tried her damnest to have anyone who disagreed with her from the military given a letter of reprimand
