Interesting. I don't know that I've ever seen wines from Hungary when I've wine shopped. How is it?

I'm having some Red Cat right now. Probably 2010 vintage.

How is it? I want to try red cat. When I finish this, I'll probably go back and crack a bottle of little penguin. I buy that one by the case.

Surely you can explain better than that! Berry flavors, long finish, something?! Its older than most Merlots most people drink now so I'm curious. Most of my wine drinking lately is vicarious.

it's a little drier than most merlots, with notes of grape and alcohol It's better than most merlots I've had -- I'm not good at the whole descriptive stuff with wines.

I don't know how to tell if a wine is complex. I just know if they taste good.

May have to see if my store carries that brand, I'm more into pinot noir - but if it's on sale I'll try it!

I used to be OK with descriptive wine terms. I love the berry flavors the most - cherry, blackberry, etc. I usually avoid white wines that are described as grassy or herbaceous notes.
I prefer Cabs, Zins, and Pinots over most Merlots as they tend to be simple one flavor note kind of wines now. One of the really good red wines I had actually had a distinctive first, middle, and final tastes(?) I'm forgetting the terms but it was amazing.
Years ago I used to subscribe to Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.

J, a wine is usually considered complex if it has at least two distinct taste notes, i.e. if when drinking it has one taste initially and perhaps on the finish it has a different taste character. In general old red wines that age well are complex. Something like Beaujolais Nouveau is considered simple since its mostly straight young fruit. ( OK, EEers enjoy. )
