Natural includes bones. When cats eat rodents, they eat the bones as well. As I mentioned earlier, ground up whole rabbit (including bones) was the optimal source of ‘meat’ for cats, according to the research I read on it. I also have to wonder how long it would take to kill my food processor! Sourcing was the issue for the rabbit though. DH hates DD's Rabbits and really wants to get rid of them. I always worry that someone with snakes will take them to feed the snakes. Now I have to worry what someone with cats might do with them. Her boyfriend is allergic to them, so even when she leaves, I think they will stay with us. It was funny…..when I started doing the research into this, I discovered the best source was biological supply companies. This makes sense, as we used rabbits all the time to make antibody for our research. However, you had to buy the carcasses in bulk and I would have needed a mega freezer to keep a stash if I bought from here. The next step would be procuring from restaurant supply stores, and rabbit wasn’t always available. This was considerably more money too. That’s why I just went back to cat chow. Sometimes, to do things correctly is harder than you’d think. Money, living situation and time all played into it, for what I’m sure was an excellent benefit. But how much more benefit for considerable effort and cost? BTW…..I have had to sacrifice rabbits as part of my job. We sedated them, and bled them out. I hated it, but luckily only had to do it occasionally. Once we got a good supply of antibody, it was sufficient for years. I doubt someone would go after a pet rabbit for this. Feeding a snake? Maybe because snakes usually prefer live prey (or at least our snake did). This way, the snake does th3 work, not you.

Sudafed is my go to when I know I have sinus issues. NyQuil is for the night, I get a NyQuil hangover, but I sleep like the dead. I use the Sudafed when it feels like my face is going to explode.
I hav3 never tried Sudafed and Flonase. I’m gonna have to try that combo!

I don't know what kind of tooth pain you have. But my teeth bother me badly at times and I brush with Sensodyne toothpaste for a few days. But maybe that is something different. I also have a couple of types of nasal spray my doc gives to me for issues. They said flonase is non addictive so I use it a lot of nights with a breathe rite strip. She said the OTC is the same. If mine gets all stopped up, than my sinuses really get plugged and hurt. My nose is long and narrow inside, ENT guy said surgery might not help much. The strips open it wider at night so I can breathe. I think this was a lot of my problem instead of sleep apnea. So I use them every night. Since I got my tonsils out and take all these shots for covid, flu, and everything I have had way less problems with it. Or shall I say the problems are not as severe. Before when my teeth have hurt like this, I’ve gone to the dentist to try to figure out whether it was a tooth causing the pain, or my sinuses. It was my sinuses. I have had surgery to remove nasal polyps that were the cause of a very bad sinus infection that would not go away, no matter what. My Mom went with me for the surgery, and when he talked to her while I was in recovery, he told her that he had to clean a lot of nasty stuff out of the sinus cavity on that side of my face. When imaging tests showed all the gunk in that sinus cavity and it was discovered that I had nasal polyps, the Doctor said he was surprised that I hadn’t sought help way before then, saying I had trouble breathing. Well, I’ve had bad allergies since I was 4yo, when I was first diagnosed, and all of my allergies are not just seasonal, so not being able to breathe properly feels normal to me. It has not been confirmed by doctors and imaging tests, but I believe the polyps are back. I have a lot of issues on that side of my head again. But my current issues are on the other side of my face, so just fuck me. Do you have any Sudafed? This is the good stuff, that you need to sign away your first born son. If you have sinus issues, this will alleviate it. If it’s tooth pain, NSAIDs (supposedly) work best for that. I disagree, as when I had an abscessed tooth, I needed the good drugs to take me off the ceiling. That was painful, but hips still win the pain battle.

For cats in nature, they actually eat bones and they need the minerals they get from eating bones. When I did the research, there was an optimal way of getting bone into their diets. Cats are strict carnivores and have different nutritional requirements. I think one site I looked at suggested ground up whole rabbit as the best source of food, because the bones ground well and it contained all of what was needed. Sourcing it was another issue. oh wow, that's interesting. bc the one time LD counter surfed and got sick, it was bc he snarfed more than half of a full chicken with all the bones. that said, can cats do onion and garlic? honest question, I don't know I don’t know. I thought feeding homemade food would be a slam dunk for cats, I’d just throw some stuff into the ground up chicken thighs and I’d be good. Nope, it was a bit more complicated than that. Since Gomez was also eating his regular chow, I really didn’t have to worry about supplementing the chicken I was giving him. I have never had a cat which would consider eating onion or garlic though.

It really isn’t better for them. It is a lot of empty calories that they don’t need. They fill up on this and don’t eat the chow that has the taurine, bone meal and other things they need. There is a lot that goes into making healthy cat chow, while I was doing this I thought about switching them over. Had this been necessary for Gomez (like him giving up cat chow) I would have done so, but to do it correctly really is a pain. The only reason why Gomez got it was I was trying to get weight on him. That cat went from 12 lbs to 4 lbs. He was getting as much chicken as he wanted along with kitten food and kitten milk. He still lost weight. I’m just curious. How is a balanced, natural diet not better than cat chow? Feral cats don’t eat cat chow, but them seem to be just fine. Natural includes bones. When cats eat rodents, they eat the bones as well. As I mentioned earlier, ground up whole rabbit (including bones) was the optimal source of ‘meat’ for cats, according to the research I read on it. D was horrified at the thought that they were missing nutrients, based on a sample bowl I listed out for her. when I asked her where in nature I could find the missing things, I turned around and gave her the options for those nutrients, that didn't happen to be in their bowls that day. when I brought it up with the vet I switched to when I moved back*, she shook her head and reassured me that I wasn't doing anytihng wrong by the pups in fresh feeding. I'd taken the necessary pounds off of Punk, and LD was still all of the lean muscle. they were both fresh coated and healthy. *this was the vet I would have chosen, if I knew then what I knew when I moved back. anyway, onward and upward! Just back from the grocery store. Another produce run…..plus to get more of the acorn squash I bought that was really good. I had to hit the yarn shop for some needles that I had ordered, and mail the baby blanket and gifts off to m6 nephew.
Carbonara with grilled asparagus tonight.

I gave the cats that bit of salmon last night. Smoke nibbled on it and Mr Hungry Gut wouldn't touch it. What is it that they don't like food other animals would fight to get. No steak no nothing of real food will they eat. I know they need certain things from cat food but I would think real food would be better for them overall supplemented with cat food.It is really nice out 72. I turned the furnace off and opened a door, hope we don't get buried in stink bugs. It really isn’t better for them. It is a lot of empty calories that they don’t need. I would definitely be doing less fresh stuff if I wasn't WFH. it's ridiculous how much food I go through here. I'm cooking 2c (dry) of rice every few days, and the bulk shredded lettuce (either purchased that way or I chop)? there's a reason I'm at the grocery store every few days. it works out nicely though, in that they really aren't too picky and it helps me out with my indecisiveness on what I cook for myself. take this week - I have a package of four boneless pork chops. I'm going to cook off two, unseasoned, that I'll set aside to chop up for them. one each will be a meal's worth of protein. I'll crust the other two in something and cook them for one meal plus a leftover one for myself. When I was trying to get weight on Gomez, I was buying packages of chicken thighs, cooking them off, throwing all the skin and fat into the food processor and chopping it. A large family sized (2 sheet pans worth) supplemented him for about a month at 1/2c twice/day. That cat was ravenous, scarfed everything down including his cat chow. He still lost weight, vet thought it was a lymphoma of the gut that was just absorbing calories. He was so painfully skinny. I’d do it again too, as he adored chicken…..and angel food cake!

How long does that typically last? quite awhile, actually. this is intended to fill up all of the freezer containers from none. they generally eat whatever proteins are on sale, which is why there's meatloaf mix in the fridge to cook off with some kale when I get off my ass in a little bit. BSCB is a brainless processing thing, because I run it through the IP and just glove up to shred it once it's cool enough to touch. I'll try to pay attention to volumes when I build their dinner bowls and post back. but they are 65 and 85lbs, so not dainty little pups. When both dogs had some sort of GI issues, I cooked up a large family package of boneless chicken breasts and made 6-8 cups of rice. There was a large container of food in the fridge, and between the 2 dogs, they were getting around 2-3 cups of it a day. Kronk is 65 lbs, Harriet 45 lbs. It’s amazing how quickly we went through that container of food. Luckily the GI issues resolved about the time we ran out of food.

Yesterday, while my sister was at church, we took advantage of the empty house.
Then afterwards, decided to go get breakfast at the diner in Ferndale. Got there, parked and trued to open a locked door. Closed until further notice. On FB, someone mentioned a death in the family and it’ll open in a month, so probably mid Nov. This diner makes the best biscuits and gravy, so had to find a plan B. There was another diner across the street. About the same price, and just as good. Only difference was the first place has a very nicely spiced sausage patty included. Second place sprinkles crumbled bacon liberally on top of the gravy. Decisions…decisions! I could never eat like this regularly, I try to limit it to once/month.

EXACTLY! I didn’t say she broke up the marriage, there were a lot of problems, but my sister was willing to do the work to try to make things right. Her ex decided after 24 years he wasn’t even going to try. I did not like my ex BIL (and oddly enough, he likes TD). But the reasons I didn’t like him had more to do with his moral character than anything. His entire family was like this in that if they could steal something, they would. So sister’s ILs stole from my sister regularly (like ask her to put her card down as a deposit on their hotel room, and charge to that card, not their own). My BIL was building a deck, bought the cheapest lumber for said deck and walked out with the most expensive. There were a lot of situations like this. If my sister objected, her ex just gave her a hard time until she rolled over. I don’t know why none of them got DUIs as all of them drank excessively and drove. There was absolutely no compromise. All holidays had to be spent with his family, and the ex groused the last Christmas my dad was alive because my sister did put her foot down about going. He may as well as stayed at home, but she paid for that trip a long time. He sounds like an asshole. Tell me, do you have any idea why she wanted to stay yoked to an ass like that? Did they have any kids together? He ‘loved’ her, she him and her biological clock was ticking ever louder. She was over 30 when she married him. They had 4 kids together (which is how this discussion started….about her ex’s fiancée getting to hold her new grandson first). . The stuff I mentioned was stuff that happened over their marriage. He was on his best behavior while they were dating. He got a lot worse when they moved back to his family, and most of the shit I posted happened then. At that point, they had 2 kids and had been married 7 years or so.

We went to dinner Friday at a couple we met on the world cruise. They had just redone their kitchen, and did it such that they got rid of their deck, made a patio and it is set up such that it could be for year round living (including a gas fireplace and radiant heaters. They tore out the back portion of their house, and put in windows. That meant they lost all but 2 cabinets, so built a monster island maybe 15-20’?) with drawers built into in (and their first wine fridge). There is a window that opens, the screen slides so you can pass food outside to eat out there easily.
Kitchen aside (which I’d kill for) the outdoor living space was incredible. I came home and looked at what we could do to our kitchen/deck to get something similar. Other than the fact that TD would probably nix it, I suspect doing something like this would wind up eating our travel budget for th3 next 3 years. My suggestion would need to change the roof line. That’s no5 happening!

Thank you! A happy husband does not find solace in the arms of another. But the original post by Mich said it "helped end the marriage", not that it was the only reason - though likely the straw that broke the camel's back. Happy husbands, and wives, cheat for all kinds of reasons. Happiness almost never has anything to do with cheating. Way to blame the person who was cheated on. 🙄 EXACTLY! It's probably hard for the sister right now mich being in that in between stage. Logically she knows she's better off without him but this isn't what she planned. Not what she devoted years of her life to. Right now as she's living with her sister, trying to get established back in the workforce, sell her house and get a new one it hurts. She can logically know she's doing the right thing and that she'll be better off in the long run and still be upset that it's going slowly and this other person has what she wants. She's trying to do right for herself and by her kids and the pay off isn't immediate. It can suck. Very much this. I get it.

Interesting. And this does make sense, especially when factored in that fiancée is the woman who helped break up the marriage. Sister hates her with a visceral passion, even though logically she recognizes that her ex was as much to blame. I know this plays into it too.Another woman cannot break up a healthy marriage. I didn’t say that.

Not that you'll be able to convince her and everything takes time, but from my experience, letting that hate go is wonderful. Embrace the new life and power on.
I agree with you 100%. If you knew how many times I told my sister that she’s letting fiancée live rent free in her brain, I’d be rich if I was getting money for it. What it boils down to is that fiancée how has the life my sister wanted. Big house, pool, social life. It doesn’t matter that my ex BIL is 60 years old, has less than $100k in retirement accounts, a $500+k (with a HELOC) mortgage and has absolutely NO savings, despite his $180k/year job. He spends every freaking dime he gets and owes my sister in back spousal support. She understands logically that she’s better off without his spending habit (who spends $800/mo at a liquor store?) but it’s still this emotional thing she just doesn’t want to seem to let go of. Being out here has helped….some.

Pink Cashmere when I was having issues with hot flashes and sleeping way too hot at night the doctor suggested I take Basic B Complex supplements. It contains all the B vitamins. Best suggestion ever I stopped waking up drenched in sweat and slept better at night. Yeah, I tried everything on the market to bring down hot flashes. I finally cried ‘uncle’ to my GYN, and he prescribed Prempro. OMG! Life and sleeping got sooooo much better. TD said he could feel the heat emanating off me from the other side of the bed! I was miserable, I’d be drenched in sweat, then need to get up and change clothes because they were cold and clammy. They took me off my hormones when they removed my first hip. I don’t remember it being bad in the hospital, but while I was in the nursing home, they finally gave them back it was so bad. I had my window open (in Jan) and the heat turned off and I was still sweating through the hospital gown and sheets. Anyone coming into my room to deal with me knew they needed to wear a jacket or they’d freeze. Thinking back, I had had hip surgery…..which made me a risk for DVTs. I was on hormones, which added to that risk, so I got to inject my belly with meds to prevent them….and it was preferable to the hot flashes.

I just finished weaving in the ends to the baby blanket I knitted for my sister’s first grandson. I forgot what kind of a pain this was to do. I clipped a wrapper from the yarn with washing instructions on it to the blanket. My sister is all bent out of shape. I don’t get it, but perhaps some here can clue me in. She is going to get to see him at Christmas, after jumping through all kinds of hoops between their schedule and her work. Apparently her ex and his fiancée are now visiting and sister is all bent out of shape that fiancée will get to hold her first grandson before my sister. She is pissed at her son that he ‘let’ them visit, but my best guess is that they didn’t ask……just showed up. At this point, my nephew doesn't have much choice in the matter (and he’s really too easy going to put up too much of a stink). I tried to point out that she’ll be there for his first Christmas, but she’s still hurt and upset. I don’t get it. Is this logical, or is my sister just all butt hurt because her ex got there first? There's little logic involved in any of our emotions though. We're not Vulcan.
My mother taught us to be upset if someone used something new before she got to.
I'd also be pissed in your DS's role. Logical? No. Normal? Yes.
I can honestly say that none of our four children--in their status quo-- would have allowed the fiance to hold the baby.
I can see if our daughter was drugged up or if one of our sons was not there or it had been a super long labor and he was sleeping in the corner.
But, in a coherent state, none of our children would let the fiance hold the baby before either DH or I did.
I understand those who DO NOT have that reaction. Please at least accept that some of us would have that reaction. Interesting. And this does make sense, especially when factored in that fiancée is the woman who helped break up the marriage. Sister hates her with a visceral passion, even though logically she recognizes that her ex was as much to blame. I know this plays into it too. I think that she’s also stymied by the fact that Sister tried to do what’s best for her son’s new family, and respect their wishes and her ex just trampled all over them…..giving credence to its easier to beg forgiveness after the fact. I really am trying to understand this, so you guys have helped me a bit. M6 eyeballs are not rolling back into my head quite as much!

It's not just that her ex got their first. It's the finace. Legally, she's on the cusp of being family, but she's really not. . She's not any relation to your nephew. She didn't put any work in. And she's first in line for the funsies, something that is romanticized as being for the mother.
I probably would be hurt too. I'm already pretty damn petty about DH taking another partner, whether I am alive or not.
The worst part about it is the ones that are put in the worst situation are your nephew's new little nuclear family. Yep. This is the crux of it. I told my sister this morning it was very likely an uninvited visit and I know my nephew and his wife were trying to keep visitors down until their son had his first round of shots. At this point, he’s 3 weeks old. My nephew isn’t about to turn his dad down if he shows up on his doorstep, but it doesn't mean that he’s happy about the visit and won’t resent it. Bringing his fiancée probably isn’t helping either.

No, because I order as soon as I can. So I usually have a stash. This is how I avoided jumping through hoops about getting a vacation override for the world cruise. When I left, I had 9 months of meds and took 6 months with me. I ordered this batch sometime in June when we got back, but didn’t start then until Sept. The other thing I discovered on the ship was that I had a 90 day supply of each (x2) but ran out of BP meds first. Those I KNOW I took daily, which means that I think I got shortchanged on those since we were on the ship 178 days. I use those daily pill boxes just to make sure I don't get into the "did I take this one yet or not" situation. To get my BP under control and minimize side effects I have to take three different BP pills. It was the side effects on my liver that caused this as my BP was under control fairly quickly. Since then I always taken the pills from this box so I know that I either have take them all or I forget them all, there is no in between. Yet by now I am several weeks out of sync with these pills - proof that they are not counted - and that the "filling by weight" machines are clearly not very accurate. I think you are right that the filling by weight is not accurate. I guess I need to start counting future shipments.

Wondering how much I have screwed up my prescriptions.
I take 2 meds every morning, for blood pressure and thyroid. When I switched pharmacies, BOTH pills are a small (exact same size) pink round pill (last pharmacy, one pill was round, the other oblong but both pink too). I take 2 for blood pressure, one for thyroid every morning. I know at least yesterday - and I have no idea how many days before - I took 2 thyroid, 1 BP. I can't count how many days I did this because I started using the bottles of meds at different times, so counting what is left isn't going to help.

We also set up the patient portal at the local hospital. Hubs had a ton of blood work done this morning. The results are already available, so looked through those. He had some high values in a few areas but nothing that was to far out of the norms. However, since July his PSA had gone up .10, small. But the norm is 1 to 4 and in 2021 his was 3.4 and now is 11.7, to me says more cancer involvement since July was 11.6 and Sept was 11.7. We finally decided the doc didn't miss him in 2022 that was when everything was shut down because of covid. I like being able to see that, of course I realize I could misinterpret some results as I have to look up a lot of meanings of words and sentences. But I can understand a lot of it. I intended to get up and cut down the hostas by the house and clean that up and wash down the front porch and clean my windows. Not today, it’s been raining and is 57, so not a good day to be cleaning in landscaping. I need to check the weather and see if it’s going to warm up a bit so I can do that and the back porch too. Probably not significantly different. I wouldn5 assume more cancer. Ummm……..in 2022, everything was pretty much back to normal from Covid. 2020/2021 yes…..but by last year pretty much everything was open.

DH likes to buy exactly what he wants from grocery store for the current day. He also drives me crazy criss crossing the store as items pop in his head. Dude go aisle by aisle like a sane person. When I take TD with me to Costco, I can pretty much guarantee that the bill will be higher. He definitely has hoarding tendencies and will frequently buy extras. If I say I need 2 packages of tomatoes, he will put 4 in the cart. My biggest gripe is that I wan5 suggestions for dinner but his response is ‘whatever I make is fine’. Yeah, I know….but I CANT THINK OF ANYTHING NEW, GIVE ME IDEAS! Yes, I’m yelling about this! It annoys me that much!

I like that condo Mitch and a decent price. You are right the prices there are crazy high. We go back and forth about buying a different place up there later after we sell here or just living in it. It just doesn't fit our needs. We can probably add a shed and expand the storage building but still wouldn't own the land. And I hate to admit it I think we are both a little bit of snobs anymore. It's very clean, but modulars and trailers. Yes, they are fixed up nicely and the place is super clean, but, its still a trailer. We have plenty of time to decide. yet. I got into the patient portal at the hospital complex where hubs is going. I read through the reports and it stated the cancer has not metatasized, and is not in his lymph nodes or glands so that makes me feel so much better. Why haven't they told us this? He does have an appointment with the surgeon Friday so maybe he will. Still its cancer and says it has more on his left side than the right in the tumor I suppose. I'm just hoping it has been caught early enough. He has some elevated labs but nothing crazy high. And as we know his blood type is O and the other stuff is negative. Son called tonight and he was relieved. Also he said tomorrow he has a full physical scheduled, I'm glad he is doing this, he needs to. His dad asked him if he had orders to go to the Middle East yet, and he said no nothing yet. If he did likely Israel or maybe on one of the ships. We are just hoping he doesn't have to go there, but you never know. Likely some of them well, and I think the units he is with would go there. I'm heading for bed early again tonight. I'm just worn out and why I don't know. Hopefully not coming down with anything. I suspect his appointment was his pre op appointment where they take bloods, do cross matching and check you out for surgery. They also give you instructions on what you do up to surgery, what to expect, what drugs to take/not take I do not EVER remember seeing a doctor for this appointment, this was done by a nurse. A nurse would not discuss results like this with you, this is the doctor’s responsibility to tell you this and put forth the game plan for treatment.

My Kindle bill is probably pushing $40/mo. I have stopped opening offers as I can’t read what I buy fast enough. Thinking back though, it was nothing for me to drop $20 for paperbacks a couple times each month, especially when I was flying back and forth to WA. Yes, DH spent a lot on paperbacks too, even though we regularly haunted the Half Price book store and various library sales. Fortunately, some of his reading material is classics like Agatha Christie which are only $1.99 on Kindle. But reading is a far better and cheaper hobby than some things he could be interested in like fast cars or fast women Exactly! You don’t want to know how much I spend on yarn these days after having taken up knitting again! While I can avoid the local shops (I have 2 I spread my money to), online is harder to avoid.
