"Fixed income" is one of those terms that always kind of bugs me. It seems to be used to describe old and poor, but since "fixed" just means static, it could be a fixed high income. Right now my grocery store offers a weekly discount for people over 55. Dh will be 55 next year, so I will be taking him to the grocery store. But in my head, I am really confused by the 55 number. Most 55 year olds I know are doing better than ever, peak earning years, kids are out of the house, the house is often paid off or close to it, no debt. "Single income" is another one that bothers me. We have been single income since dd was born and people always assume we are poor. It works out for us, because no one ever asks to borrow money, but we have been told on occasion that we weren't asked for money because we are "single income." Always said in a whisper for some reason, like it is a secret. We also t ake advantage of veterans discounts, everywhere they are offered. Not really sure why that one is offered, but hope it isn't because they assume financial hardship. I remember changing banks when I hit 50 because they offered free checking for "elderly" 50 yr. old folks!! Hey, I get confused when they say someone stole an elderly persons purse in parking lot and let it be know the elderly person was 62! I call that a baby But that's just my take on stuff and my take ain't worth diddly squat in the grand scheme of things. ETA: I also take advantage of any discounts offered. No reason not to.

I'm chatting myself in teams. I'm not sure what to make of it. I misread that as Beams. I won’t relay what popped into my mind as what to make of it.

I enjoyed algebra. I looked at it like a puzzle. There were known quantities and you solved for unknown quantities. I use it all the time. like comparing prices when shopping as example. I loved linear simultaneous and quadratic equations. I don't remember how I did it, but made my way through algebra 1 & 2 and geometry. My favorite scene from the movie Peggy Sue Got Married. If you are not familiar with the movie and plot then read the link. Then watch the video. The video may not make sense if you have never seen the movie. Peggy Sue Got MarriedI never took algebra.

Me tooo! I hate numbers. I came to like numbers once I began my 30 career with my employer. When I first started my job among other things was write up weight and balance sheet to launch the aircraft in the evening. And prior to employee timecard information being entered into computers, I was responsible for the weekly employee timecard data being put down manually on a spreadsheet. All 60 minute data had to be converted to 100s using a conversion chart. The previous week's timecards had to be done and completed on the spreadsheet in time to make it out on Monday night's flight to headquarters so the employees would receive a paycheck that friday. Later on in HR, I was taught how to write code to generate employee data information from the company's data stored in their computers. This data I could then download directly into my computer and into an Excel spreadsheet. It was not unusual to download employee records (depending on the company division) for more than 60,000 employees at a time. I could then create pivot tables to compress the data and work with numbers depending on what information about the employees as a whole was needed. The data could be broken down all the way to individual managers and their direct reports. The HR VPs paid me well for my skill. They could request the same information and reports from the HR department which held the data. But it would take a week or two to receive it. I could get the same information to the VPs in an hour or two. I made a living as a bookkeeper. Go figure. I took job as secretary for CPA back in 76. Long story short her bookkeeper’s husband got transferred and they decided to teach me to do write up, etc. I almost quite because IHATE NUMBERS. I cheated my way from 1st grade on in math. Took only enough to graduate from high school. But bossy lady and bookkeeper were two unbelievable teachers and a lightbulb went off like magic. We started putting data on computer around 1979 or 80. I left for another job in 82 since she couldn’t pay me what I needed as divorced with snot nosed teen in tow But her training prepared me for bookkeeping jobs down the road. Fast forward to 1990 and I called bossy lady to ask if she knew anyone looking for bookkeeper as I was looking. I kept up with her thru the years. Yep, she was looking. Current lady who replaced me was leaving town. I went back and stayed until 2003. Funny how things happen in this weird life.
