Serious thunder, lightning and buckets of rain have arrived. The storm drain in front of my house overflowed in moments.
LOL, the only thing I brought in from outside were my recylce bins and my mailbox.

We now have lots of lightning, intermittant rain and thunder. Guess it's headed in my general direction

Take a little kit with you to your tub. A flashlight, whistle, water bottle or two and several snacks. Some toilet tissue. Pillow, blanket. Cover yourself with a mattress, already suggested.
The building will start shuddering and I hope you are hunkered down at that point. The civil defense sirens should be sounding but people cannot always count on them.
Let us know.

I hope Malarky and Cael are ok. We were on the edge of the storms most of the day. Either they went north or south of us. I know where Malarky lives and she got a direct hit from the last of the storms that went through. Hope both the ladies are ok.

My high school (from 40 odd years ago) got its windows blown out (and other damage so I hear) in Springfield today.

Downtown Springfield is a war zone. There's video of 4 and 5 story brick buildings smashed. Some amazing video came out of the storms.

What they call the South End in downtown Springfield used to be the Italian section of the city when I was growing up. Most of the good Italian restaurants and bakeries were in the South End.

I'm fine this morning, no visible damage that I can see from my house. We already lost most of the big trees in our neighborhood from a storm a couple of years ago. The lightning was stunning and it seemed as though the thunder was directly overhead. Doesn't even begin to compare with what others went through. I talked to Chiver on the phone last night, she was fine but that was before the storms got this far east. Not sure about Cael, though.

No thanks, Blue. What about all my friends? I want to go to the same place they'll all be. ;D

Malarky, that was facetious. Does it really matter how we get to the afterlife?

<yawn> I stayed up way too late watching the coverage and listening to the rain pounding on my house. thankfully, around midnight, my friends in Sturbridge checked in to let us know that people and property are all OK on their end. they got their power back on some time overnight. yay for all that. I can't believe what a beautiful day it is today, after all that destruction. *I know this is nothing compared to what MO suffered recently, but this is big for here.

We barely ended up with anything actually, guys! Lots of lightning later on in the evening, but not even much thunder & barely any rain. I'm kind of disappointed we got the shaft on this storm, but since it was a scary one, it's ok.
Glad everyone else is safe!! Feel awful for Springfield/Sturbridge and those areas.... jesus.
Ten - didn't realize you grew up a masshole! You aren't still in this area are you?

Ten - didn't realize you grew up a masshole! You aren't still in this area are you? Have not lived in Mass. for years. But I did attend grammar and high school in Springfield. and lived just down the street from my high school which was heavily damaged. Is it safe to assume the term 'masshole' is a term of endearment for all Mass. residents, past, present and future?

Karma for you, poohbiscit.
I was just seeing what happened to the airport on the news.
We are used to seeing these kinds of pictures in other parts of the country, not so much here.

I did not have the time to get on line until now and wondered all day if everyone was ok. I'm happy to see everyone is posting. The storms skirted around us and it only rained a bit late last night. Weird.
Pooh, that video was something else. I saw one that showed one of the tornado's coming up the back end of a hill then cresting the hill then continuing down into a valley. You get use to seeing them on relatively flat ground so you assume they would peter out but they don't.
